I contacted Baldassin and spoke with one their reps to schedule a visit to my home to appraise a Baldwin baby grand I inherited, and was promised a return call to schedule an appointment. A week later and I've never received the return call . . .

He is like the piano whisperer, he doesn't have good personality skills but he gets around a piano like he is one with his universe. He knows everything about his pianos, they are like his little babies and he takes care of them. He is kind of gruff and not so good working with people but I don't care if he can fix the piano good. He tries but he is a little uncomfortable around people. He will call me and remind me that I need to have the tuning so he is not like rude or anything he is just a little bit more uncomfortable with people than he is with pianos. I have had some really bad piano tuners but he is amazing and he can fix anything and answer any questions you might have about pianos. He does a lot of work on grand pianos, he can do restoration and repair as well as the basic tuning. He is very experienced; he is very responsive and very professional.
Description of Work: I used Baldassin Pianos for piano tuning. He also fixed a couple of loose hammers and the bottom pedal. He did some repairs the year before too.

Had to wait for Dennis Fife to get back from a vacation to schedule the appointment, but it was well worth the wait. He was prompt, efficient, knowledgable and the piano sounds great.

Our baby grand hadn't been tuned in a few years, so I did a little digging into licensed piano tuners in my area, coming across Baldassin Pianos. A scheduler took my name and number and within hours the tuner, Dennis, called me back. He set up an appointment for about 2 weeks later. The morning of the appointment, he called as a reminder. He came right on time and went straight to work, vacuuming the dust out (using our vacuum with attachments), tightening screws, repairing a key that was stuck, and then doing the tuning. All told, it took two hours. Dennis was very professional and punctual and did nice work on my very cherished 40-year-old piano. He also recommended the and quot;100,000 mile overhauland quot;: filing the worn felt on the hammers (should be rounded, but they're and quot;Vand quot; shaped - he said replacing them altogether would cost thousands), voicing, doing a clean and lube, and and quot;replacing all the mechanical partsand quot;. He said that this has probably never been done and would greatly improve the sound quality. The catch is that it takes 8 hours and costs $650, but I appreciated the recommendation since I wasn't even aware that such a thing existed. Overall, I highly recommend Baldassin Piano for tuning!
