Affordable Heating & Cooling

We just purchased an older home with an ancient 24 yr old Lenox furnace. Our home inspector had checked carbon monoxide levels and they were fine, but had recommended a furnace service. The tech from Affordable Furnace started educating me about the need for more venting for the furnace room, which our home inspector should have done, but did not. He knew a lot about the furnace, changed the filter, did another carbon monoxide test by drilling hole in furnace vent and inserting an instrument. It verified findings of home inspector. He said the furnace worked and no maintenance other than filter was needed. Of course it's horribly inefficient, but it's working as it should. I tried selling myself on a new furnace, because the guy was so nice. But ultimately will wait a winter to check our heat bills. He brought the carbon monoxide detector and would have installed it, but my husband said he would do it himself which is why I hate having my husband there when someone comes to service something. He always tried to lighten the service person's load. I was going to hire him to fix our gas fireplace at $75 per hour because no one including our home inspector could turn it on. But this guy just found the switch and problem solved. Like this company and would recommend.

I couldn't be happier with this company. They were punctual, respectful of my property and time, and I'm pretty sure they left my basement cleaner than they found it. They gave me a clear bid with multiple options and a fair price, and followed up to make sure that everything was working correctly a week or two later. I'm really pleased with the work they did, and I would certainly use them again.

The tech assessed my furnace and I felt that he gave me a fair and honest account of the furnace condition in the home we just purchased. He also showed me the components and explained how they worked and he showed me where the filter replacement was. He kindly replaced the filter on the very old humidifier, which was no easy feat given how outdated it was ( I've never owned a house humidifier, so it was helpful to learn more about them). He also checked out the a/c unit and gave me a general assessment on its condition. This visit was really great...I got lots of information and I will use them again in the future when its time to replace parts, etc. or just for service.

Technician arrived late and made excuses. Then proceeded to bad mouth a previous customer that had complained because he arrived late. He was also very poor at testing our broken air conditioner. He only tested the pressure. My husband came up with suggestions for additional ways to test the unit. In the end, the technician said he did not know what was wrong: He stated it could be freon leaking, low pressure, the controller board, or the compressor. He performed no tests other than the pressure test. He told my husband he would get back to him about the availability and price of a controller board, but he never did. The only positives were that he said he would remove his shoes if he had to come into my house. He did not try to pressure us into buying a new air conditioner. But his testing skills and professionalism were lacking

The technician was quick knowledgeable, and informative. He checked the entire system. Found the problem quickly. corrected it, explained it to me, and provided maintenance tips for the future.

I needed an a/c unit repaired on one of my rental homes. I called on a Saturday and they stated they were very busy but they would try to get out and look at the unit. Sunday morning Harold came out and was able to diagnosis the problem and get it fixed!

They did what they were supposed to do.

They technician was honest and very helpful. He did not try to upsell me on additional services. They price for the service was cheap compared to the level of service. If I ever need service on an A/C or furnace I will call them again. This is A Top Quality service company.

He called at the time he was supposed to arrive and let me know he was running late. He was courteous and clean. He was a LITTLE abrupt, but nothing over the top. He solved the problem quickly and efficiently and didn't try to sell me anything. He was honest. I would definitely call these folks back.

I'm pretty sure they didn't do the long list of things they were supposed to do. I wasn't down there with them, but he just wasn't there long enough to do much.

My son's AC was having some problems, so we hopped on Angie's list to find someone who could help. It's an older unit, and weknew that, which is why we was looking for some honest advice. Curt came out and did a great job. Didn't try to sell us a new AC, didn't try to sell us on extra freon which we didn't even need. Showed my son some things, let him ask some questions, told him what his options were. My son said he's going to call them back when he needs to replace the AC, or anything else HVAC related. "Straight shooters," was the phrase he used. Thanks guys!

They were quick to provide an estimate and I contacted and received estimates from five different companies. Harold came right out to the home and provided an estimate that was far less than any other company for the same material and equipment. They were on time, worked very hard, were clean and explained in great detail what they were doing, why they were doing it, and how to properly operate the new system. Prior to accepting their bid, I spoke with Harold several times, over the phone, and he was excellent to work with and answered all questions. My daughter lives in the home, and the installer actually gave her some suggestions with regard to the operation of the furnace which would help the unit run more efficiently. For example, the installer noted that the air filter had been placed in the furnace improperly and showed her the correct placement of the filter. They installed a new thermostat and instructed her on the use of that device. This is a great company in my opinion. They are honest, dependable, professional, and really want to satisfy the customer. I would recommend Affordable Heating and Cooling to anyone!!! In addition, they honored the coupon on Angie's List and took $300.00 off the price. It just doesn't get any better than this company. One more thing, they removed the old swamp cooler and hauled it away and actually saved some of the parts that were serviceable so that my daughter could give them to the neighbors who operate a swamp cooler in their home. Now, is that service or what? Thanks fellows, you did a great job.

It went so well. My dad had back surgery and in a lot of pain. The weather for the weekend was going to get up in the 90's. We called Angies List and they recommended Affordable. Harold came out the first day we called which was on a Thursday. We had scheduled an appointment for the following Wednesday. After I had informed Harold that my dad was in pain and I hated for him to be uncomfortable due to being hot, he totally understood. That following Monday Harold called and stated he could have someone here Tuesday. He came out and did it all in one day. We are so thankful for them, I really dont know how to say THANK YOU enough. The system has been awesome, we have no complaints, very satisfied. Affordable will definetely be our heating and a/c guys from now on.

They were very prompt, did the agreed upon work quickly, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. We now have what we needed - an adequate heating/cooling vent in the nursery. Our one complaint is that, while the finished work on the upstairs bedroom looks quite nice, the ductwork showing on the ceiling of the finished bedroom below is a bit of a mess. There was existing ductwork which they built off of, but their new work will require extra work on our part to cover (they used round ducts with a strap, while the existing ductwork was rectangular and fit neatly to the ceiling). If we were to hire them again, we'd need to make sure to be very specific about our wishes for the finished product.

They were on time, they were professional, and they were quick. I would recommend them to anybody. They didn't try to upsale me. They were straight forward with their bid. No hidden costs. They were just awesome.

Seemed fine, but it's hard to tell without knowing enough about furnaces to do the inspection myself. I mentioned I found them on Angie's List when I made the appointment. The man who came to the house apparently didn't know that until I mentioned it. Then he definitely perked up and was much more specific and detailed about what he planned to do and what he found. (I can't decide whether that makes me feel better or worse about the service.) He did seem to know what he was talking about.

Harold was very honest, easy to work with, responsive and educated me about the different brands, models, efficiency options, etc. He even took the time to create a binder for me after the installation to give me all the owners manuals, rebate info etc. He even filled out the rebate forms for Questar and Rocky Mountain Power to ensure we received proper rebates from the utility companies! Curt and Curtis installed the new unit and they did a great job. They were nice, clean, put down drop clothes entering the house, showed me how to work the new thermostat, etc. Overall I was quite impressed with the team at Affordable. I will use them again for my A/C and hot water heater which (unfortunately) will need to be replaced in the coming years.

He was very thorough and explained what the readings were on each test he performed.

Our furnace started making a very loud, strange sound. Called Affordable to see if they could could come out, they made it in the scheduled time and gave me a very honest assessment of our furnace and narrowed down the issue to something small, that could wait to be replaced. He cleaned my furnace and its running better. We just bought our home a few months ago so we have no idea how well our furnace has been maintained, but I do know that Kurt at Affordable is the one I want to come back if we do have an issue.

Let me start by saying what a pleasure it is to work Harold and this company. Harold provided several estimates for me at once as I am remodeling a house I just purchased and am going floor by floor. I travel back and forth from the east to west coast so my schedule is a train wreck and he very graciously works around it. Such kindness and excellent manners are not often seen anymore. I ended up have to reschedule my initial date and time due to some plumbing issues that were uncovered in the demo. Harold was so understanding and rescheduled as soon as I was able to. It is not often that you strike the tradesmen trifecta: 1) great company, 2) great people, 3) great prices. I feel like I hit the lottery with them. I will continue to use them and recommend them to my neighbors. The technician did a great job, was very friendly and right on time. He was in and out in a flash and my new vent placement is perfect. Love this company!

We have used these guys a number of times and have always gotten honest estimates and great work. Another company came out and told us we needed $700 in AC repairs, these guys gave it a look and charged $65 for a simple top-off, noting that the other company was just trying to get more money out of us. Totally recommend. I won't use anyone else from now on.
