Affordable Heating & Cooling

It turned out to be a very small problem, indeed. But they fixed it very effectively. The price was very reasonable. I was very pleased with the overall service. They were very prompt. They were very efficient. They did not over charge. They did not do anything that was not required. They were very friendly and very helpful. It was a very simple process, they were there maybe 30 minutes, grand total.

Harold bid the project and gave us several options for heating and A/C units. Installation went perfectly. Harold and his team are true professionals, and we are thrilled with the new equipment. Follow up is excellent, and they even helped with the application for rebates from the utility companies!

Our heater went out during a cold spell during the winter. This was the second company I called. I went with them because they were able to send someone the next morning. The service person arrived 5 minutes early. He explained what was wrong, and showed me the broken part that needed to be replaced. It was a special order part he didn't have with him, so he said the office would call me back with a price and as long as they could find it he'd be back that day. I received a call back within 20 minutes. The part was less than $100, and the installer came back later this afternoon. I felt the service was great. Based on my experience I'm going to have them back to tune up my AC in the spring.

My heater went out on a Wednesday morning. I called them and someone came out that day to check out the heater...which was "dead". Too old to find replacement parts for, and not working efficiently anyway - which did not surprise me. They provided me with space heaters for that night and the next day, and came early Friday morning to remove the old heater and put in a new one. The work was done efficiently and everything was cleaned up after.

Kurt cleaned and tuned up both furnaces. He was very knowledgable and did an excellent job (was even here early). Explained everything to me and showed me what he was doing. I would highly recommend this company!

Ryan arrived on time to give a bid. He was very courteous and took the time to answer all my questions -- and I had a lot of questions. He helped me understand the pros and cons for the dollars spent on varied levels of equipment. There was no upselling; it was all about the facts so I could decide on what would provide the best value for my specific situation. He did a great job of paying attention to what mattered to me, and he was very respectful with every interaction we had. I did my research and compared bids from varied companies. The equipment they selected for my price point was better equipment than the competition was going to use. They also offered a better warranty. I was surprised when the final estimate came in at or below their direct competition. They arrived on time the day of the install and did a great job. They were courteous and, most importantly, they were experts. They worked hard to get the job right and confirmed with me their plans so I would know what was happening. When they needed to break for lunch, they told me what they were doing and for how long. As the job progressed, they kept me posted. They identified that the thermostat should be moved to get better performance. They took the time needed to get it in the right spot. They gave me options and asked for permission before moving the thermostat. You could tell that everyone I came in contact with cared about getting the job done right (not just done). Ryan even came by the day of the install 2 times to make sure that all was going well. The performance of the equipment has been great and we are super happy with the entire process and outcome. Side Note: I paid one week after the install was done vs. having to pay up front. That showed a lot of trust in me as a customer.

Within 20 minutes of calling Affordable Heating and Cooling, I had a technician (Curt) at my house. Curt was upfront, no-nonsense, polite and wasn't trying to sell me anything. He (like the rest of my family) just wanted to get my house cool. Our A/C was low on refrigerant and our air filter needed to be swapped out. We typically swap them out every 3 months, we were advised that one month was probably a better time frame when the system was running hard. I put in a new filter, he topped up our refrigerant and the house is now cooling down. Prompt, professional and no sales pitch. If that sounds appealing, give these guys a call.

The tech inspected the condenser and determined that it was functioning as designed, suggested changing the filter monthly instead of every three months and using the garden hose to rinse the tree fuzz off the coils. He was helpful and didn't try to sell unnecessary services or repairs.

From the first phone call, to the final walk through, this was an outstanding experience. The sales person and installation staff went above and beyond in their pricing, scheduling, and final install. I would highly recommend this company, and would work with them again. The attention to detail, time answering my questions, making sure I understood everything, package pricing, and follow through on everything promised was more than I could have asked for. They came to the job site on time, ready to work, were very friendly, and left the place cleaner than it was when they got there! Great company with great people that clearly has great leadership. Kirt (or Kirk) came out to do a service on my Air Conditioner that hadn't been used for 2 years. He checked it all out, changed my filter for me, checked the coolant, changed (on my request) the thermostat that wasn't working well, and got the whole system working beautifully! He was exceptionally respectful of my house, putting "booties" on before he came in, and always asking before he moved to a different place in the house. Great guy and so nice and friendly. The cost was $79 for the entire service, plus $80 for a good (and air conditioning compatible) thermostat. I will definitely use this provider again.

I originally used a deal for a furnace tune-up. During the tune-up he walked me through how everything worked. He pointed out two parts that were leaking and could use replacements. He assured me that it wasn't dangerous and that there was no pressure to fix it if we didn't feel we could at that time. I asked him to find out the prices and then I would decide. After a couple weeks I still hadn't heard back, I called them and was given prices very quickly. After I had them order the parts it again was a couple weeks before I decided to call and check up. They were very helpful and the piece arrived shortly after, they came out and replaced everything and were so nice and not pushy at all. I really appreciated that. I was also given advice on how to check what the problem was if the furnace did stop working.

Air conditioning tune ups are usually just a sales tool to get a foot in the door to sell upgrades. Contrary to previous contractors, Affordable said air conditioning works fine after careful checkout. So no work done. If something on the furnace or air does go wrong I would trust them to fix/replace for fair price. I would still get 2 or three quotes but they would be first choice of the many heating and air companies I have worked with.

My experience with them went okay. He said we needed a new unit, but we couldn't afford it.

It went very good, a very professional instillation. This is a follow up review. The furnace & A C have went through two winters & two summers, I am very satisfied with both the instillation and the operation of the equipment. I highly recommend Affordable Heating & A C. My furnace went out on the weekend, so we toughed it out until Monday to avoid the weekend fee ($50 or more I think) and I emailed for repair from a form on their web site ahc-utah.com and called at 7:30 and left a message to see if I could be one of the first ones on the list to have someone come out. Before the office even opened, at 8 am, at about 7:50 am Harold called me back and told me he had seen my email and got my message on their phone - they actually check email!! Harold said they were completely full in the morning but that he would send someone out between 2-4 pm. Harold called back twice to let me know when they would be coming and they actually had someone finish up early and Kurt came right around 2:00 pm!! Kurt was awesome, he put covers on his shoes as he entered the home (about 4 times on and off) and he found the problem in seconds, didn't have an inducer assembly with him so first oiled the old one to see if he could get it to last through the night for us if need be. Then he went in his truck and called, found a part about 20-30 minutes away, told me that he would call his boss and see if he could get approval to get it today. Got approval, told me he would go get and be right back, got it and did come right back in about 45 minutes or so. Installed it very quickly - so quickly he surprised me how fast, took a coupon I found on their web site, and and it was up and running again with the heat bringing the house up from around 50 degrees. Yay!! Kurt answered several questions I had about the system, was friendly and nice and awesome, really showed he cared about us and getting us the fastest, best service, at an affordable fair price, he definitely deserves what he is making and MORE!

Affordable's two installers completed the work in one day, even with a complicated venting issue. They were courteous and professional and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend Harold and his crew.

Our furnace stopped working late in the day - I called Affordable Heating & Cooling at 2:00pm (the fourth company I called trying to get same-day service). I was told that they were fully booked - but they would make their best effort to have someone over the house before 5:00pm (to avoid the $50 after-hours fee). The person I spoke to confirmed that they could come today but was sure to reiterate the $50 fee if they couldn't arrive before 5:00pm. He said he'd call later with an update. I was comfortable with that condition and booked the appt. As promised, the person did call me around 4:30 with an update that they would not be able to get to the house until approx. 5:30. I confirmed that I was good to continue with the appointment and pay the after hours charge. I was told the technician would call me when he was on his way. As promised, the Technician, Kurt, called when he was on his way. We discussed the issue as he was driving. To ensure no surprises, he also mentioned the after hours charge and said he'd see me in a bit. He was pleasant, friendly, and put covers over his shoes before coming into the house. He explained what he was doing as he investigated the situation. It was determined the ECM motor had blown out (consistent with the burning smell my wife noticed the evening prior), not a trivial or inexpensive situation. Kurt explained that he did not have a replacement motor in his truck and indicated that if we needed it fixed tonight that it would require some running around (and re-opening of a store) to get the part. He called Harold, the owner, and we collectively agreed on the following: * Kurt would take my motor/blower with him for the night. * Harold (the owner) would come to my house after 8:00pm to drop off space heaters to keep our family warm overnight. * They would waive the $50 after hours charge. * They would call the manufacturer to determine if the 9yr old motor was under warranty. * They would get the part in the morning and bring back the repaired unit as early as possible. As promised, Harold dropped off three space heaters for us right after 8:00pm. He had a quick look at my furnace (after putting on shoe covers before coming into the house) and discussed best case/worst case repair scenarios and also full furnace replacement options if I wanted to go that route. I told him I'd think about the options and to call me when he had more info for me in the morning. As promised, at 8:02am Harold called to let me know the part was not under warranty, but we were ok with the "best case" repair scenario (which was about $600 cheaper than the "worst case"). I told him to go ahead with the repair and he said they'd have the motor/blower back to us around 11:00am after they picked up the part and made the repair. He said they would call before arriving. As promised, Kurt called as he was on his way and by 10:15am, my wife texted me that the "furnace was on!". He also replaced the water panel on my humidifier. This company earned a new customer going forward. I dealt with three people (dispatcher, technician, owner) - all were polite, knowledgeable, timely, did exactly what they said they'd do. I thought the price was very reasonable (as did my HVAC company owning brother-in-law in Ohio) - especially considering the three trips to the house (2 after hours) and the trip to purchase the necessary part. A+ experience all around!

I sent an email to Harold asking him if he was familiar with the make and model of the furnace, which had been limping along for some unknown reason. Well, Harold answered my email quickly stating he knew exactly what furnace I had and then he recommended the next steps; making an appointment for a tech to troubleshoot and fix the issue. I was surprised how quickly I could get service this time of year! In addition, it's been very cold and I thought, "I'm sure I'm going to have to wait my turn." I didn't wait at all! I received a courtesy call from their dispatch informing me that the tech was in the area and once he was finished with that job, he was able to come to my home. The dispatch then coordinated with my travel time from work so that he could let his tech know what time I was able to let him in the house. Great communication, THANK YOU!!!! Big KUDDOS! The tech was right on time and very pleasant. He offered to place boot covers on to protect the carpet and immediately got to work. It took all but 10 minutes to find the issue and he had the part needed in his van! The job was done in less than an hour and best of all, the furnace works as it should and the house is toasty warm! The price was absolutely in line with their name-sake. All-in-all, I'm very satisfied!

We called several Angie's List providers in Salt Lake & Affordable was the only one who could get a technician here today. Kurt Help responded, was extremely polite, friendly, & knowledgeable. The furnace was circa 1988 but he was able to replace & repair the problem in about an hour. (Thanks, also, Angie's List for the great discounts!) These folks respond 24/7/365 we will definitely use them again & highly recommend their service. Thanks!!!!!

Those guys were great. They came out this past Thursday or Friday. No additional costs. They're really honest guys. Honest, reliable and they educated me on a lot of things and I plan on using them in the future.

When the tech found the problem was the condenser he checked on the warranty for me, that saved me hundreds of dollars.

One couldn't ask for a more smooth home repair project! Both times Kurt came to our house he was on time, courteous, informative and efficient. We were so impressed not only by his efficiency and skills, but how helpful he was. He gave us some great advice particularly about our AC unit- which is old- and some things to look out for. But he never pushed any additional services on us or recommended anything we didn't need. We will definitely use Affordable Heating and Cooling again in the future and are so thankful for Kurt in particular. Being very busy professionals, we don't have a lot of time to deal with multiple companies and estimates, and this company helped make fixing these issues as easy as possible!

Harold and his team are the best in the business. Everything went smoothly from the first appointment for a quote to helping with my many questions about filter choices. I did my pricing comparison with Costco/Superior, Manwill and ESCO. Affordable beat them all by at least $1,850. We received an additional $600 off just for being on Angie's List. They installed a Lennox 3 ton 96% efficient model EL296 furnace and 3 ton A/C model XC14-036. We have seen our utility usage go down 30% in this last year. We had them install a new furnace run into our basement family room. This was a bit of a challenge due to the layout and foundation. Kurt did an awesome job of coming up with the solution. That room has never been as comfortable as it is now. Like another member, I also just referred a neighbor for a repair and she is very happy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Affordable to anyone, and have them back again if I need any assistance in the future.

The technician found that a coil had a leak. The company contacted the manufacturer and arranged for a brand new even higher efficiency unit to be delivered and installed with no cost to us since it is covered under warranty. We were impressed that Affordable stood up for our rights with the manufacturer with no complaints or delay. Affordable Heating and Cooling had a technician at our home for 4 hours to take out and replace the unit and ensure it is running smoothly, again, at no cost to us. We are thoroughly impressed with the high level of competence and care we experience every time we contact Affordable Heating and Cooling. This is a wonderful company.
