Response from TiffinDale Home Inspections
First we must comfirm for the record that we have never charge $599 for an inspection. The customer [Member Name Removed] was charger $375 (Not $599) for a complete home inspection in which we found approximately 20 major issues including serious ones of extreme child-safety hazards as well as grading issues. This customer was made aware that the many issues found on this potential purchase would cost thousands to repair. After 2 months of living in the home, the owners then found 2 minor issues not directly noted in the report because they were not actual safety issues as per Inspection standards. Additionally they complained that there was dust or sand in some of the windows due to the 20 year old seals which we noted were a small but notable issue in the report. The other issue noted by the customer was that the secondary water shut-off which was located in the house, froze shut 2 months after the report and inspection were completed. Additionally, they complained that the bottom step to their wooden stairway outside was shorter than required by current code, which was clearly due to grading and grounds issues which we did also note in the report. With many major issues noted for this perspective house, we were not sure why the customer was dis-satisfied, but our reports do not guarantee that old houses(1996 build) wont have other problem occur months after the inspections were done.
