Utah lawn aeration and or power raking is a necessary BI-ANNUAL lawn care. Aerating a lawn means supplying the soil with air, by poking holes in the ground throughout the lawn using an aerator. It reduces soil compaction and helps control thatch in lawns while helping water and fertilizer move into the root zone. utahlawnaeration.com We now offer power raking 385-549-5628

Lawn aeration acrossed Utah, fertilization and power raking
I called MULTIPLE companies and Utah Lawn aeration was the ONLY company that responded. I saw a few of the other reviews that are over 5 years old and learned he was being attacked by a few local competitors. Its sad the reviews could not be removed by policy. I would agree with the last review in 2017 they have maintained machines, deep plugs and we also had them power rake. they did an incredible job. I have used them for two seasons now and they are my go to company. they do not mow or do other services this is all they do! very clean and respectful team. Definitely would hire these guys!
I am very disappointed in this company and especially in the owner, Dan. It’s one thing to be disappointed in the service done by someone, but even worse when they flat out lie about the services and machinery they offer and refuse to make it right when given the chance. When I talked to Dan about power raking he assured me it would be a great way to prep our lawn for re-seeding in a few areas. But unfortunately there is so much dead grass left that we will have to do the removal ourselves so grass seed can even reach the dirt. The teenagers he had working for him didn’t do a thorough removal and were at our house and our neighbors next door doing both large lawns front and back for less than two hours even though we both live on 1 acre properties and our grassed areas are both very large. (We have video proof of time stamps when they came/left) The most frustrating part for us is that we texted and called Dan the day of the service to see if he would simply come back to take a look at our lawn with us to see if the dead grass removal was adequate and he wouldn’t even respond at all. Yet he made time to talk to my husband a few days later on the same day he called when he thought he was a new client. We finally got a response 5 days after the job was done and he said he was “POSITIVE the job was done completely” yet he wouldn’t even take the time to look at the yard with us, like we asked. I would love to take his word that he stopped by and looked at it like he said he did, but it’s hard to believe when he also told me in the same conversation that he quote: “used a NEW 2020 13.5hp Honda power rake 1 full pass through the yard. That service was completed as best as any new and better than any older machine could have done.” But had no words but lies after we sent him video proof of an OLD orange machine with HOME DEPOT written clearly on the side of it. (not the blue machine with the tag still on it like the picture he sent me claiming is the ONLY machine he owns) Then he even had the nerve to question if it was even his company that came out even though he took my money on Venmo and was the only person I ever gave my address to. I had hoped he would have a change of heart after he had picture proof of the machinery we were quoted clearly not matching up with what we were actually given, and offered to give him time for him to make it right since I realized it might be a busy time of year for him. But less than a week later his guys were literally at the house across the street from ours. When we asked them to come look at it, they agreed it should “usually pick up” what we showed them and “sometimes doesn’t if it is done too quickly” but Dan refused to send them across the street to make it right that day, or ever. If he gives you the spill about “having high quality equipment and doing this full time with professional work and to avoid people who do it on the side because they buy his old equipment that doesn’t work well after 5-6 years” just know that his “High quality equipment” was run by two young teens and says HOME DEPOT on the side of it and they had to call him at work and couldn’t get a hold of him. We could have easily rented a machine ourselves too for much less and removed the dead grass like we are doing now anyway. I would recommend anyone choosing one of the many less expensive companies that are out there (even if you have to remove it yourself) because you will need to anyway. This was a completely different experience than when we hired a much less expensive guy years ago who did it “on the side” and took out a truckload of dead grass, just like we paid him for. Be leery of this company and inspect your yard before you pay them.

The lawn was aerated as expected, but I do not see any evidence of power raking being done as there is a lot of thick thatch still there.

Response from Utah Lawn Aeration and Power Rake
If you are expecting a power rake to leave your lawn thatch less that is unrealistic. On average I can get 3-5, 50 gallon bags of dead grass out of a yard. we do bag and haul the grass. Again if the customer cannot be home we are now sending picture updates via text so they can see the results prior to cleanup. This yard in particular had a layer after detaching of 3-4 inches of dead crass sitting on top. after it is cleaned up yes you can still see some blades of dead grass. the intention is to remove the masses so that the other grass can breath and water can get to the roots. removing 100%of the thatch only exposes the roots and removes the protection from the dry sun. Its not intended to be perfect.

Needed aeration done. Filled out an online information form on their website on Wednesday and by next day I had no response, so I contacted them. Spoke with Dan and set up an appointment for Friday, with Dan 9:30- 10:00 am. No show. Called Dan at 10:20 and left message. Dan contacted me @10:30, said he was running behind and he was on his way up. Asked if it was still good to do job, I said yes, fine. He showed up at 11:15 and spent the next 20 minutes on phone. He didn't even come up to door introduce himself and to find out what areas I wanted done. He just started his machine and went. When he was finished, all he said was, ok that'll be 45 bucks. No apologies or discount for lateness, keeping me waiting or cash payment. Inspected the job he'd done and it was mediocre. Doesn't deserve a paycheck from me.Will not hire again.

please remember i do many of these a season but there are just those few who seem to not be happy and those are typically the one writing the reviews. as indicated i called prior to my original scheduled time and informed her that i was repairing a machine an would be there within the hour. [Member Name Removed] was also up set i didn't offer a cash payment discount. I explained that that my taxes and cost of business are the same regardless if its cash check or card. She seemed perfectly fine and in no way indicated that she expected a discount or I would have been glad to discuss.

I talked to Summer the week before to schedule the service. She told me they would be out the morning of the 13th to aerate our lawns. I even got a text the night before to remind me they were coming and who to make the check out to. I called Summer about 10 am to see what time they might be there and she said it would be around 2 pm. I tried again to call her at 4 pm and after being hung up on twice I sent a text her. She finally called me back and said apologized but said she had talked to the owner and they would be out between 5 and 6 and the price was now $70 instead of the $50 she quoted me because she didn't know there was a minimum. I guess the person that takes the calls and sets the appointments has no idea when they will be there or how much the services really cost. I was very frustrated so I left a voice message for the owner on his phone around 4:30 pm. Long story short he never called me back and they never showed up. I spent an entire day waiting at home for this unprofessional business to meet their commitment. BEWARE!!!
Description of Work: BEWARE!! I have never had a bad experience with any provider with an "A" rating until today. They were hired to come and aerate my lawn and my neighbors lawn.

We are really sorry your experience wasn't great. I admit that our timing for coming wasn't great but we did our best to keep you updated. The owner Dan did come back to look at you lawn and he said that they did a decent job. He has done this for 20 years, so he knows what he is doing. Our guys have experience in doing this as well and we are sorry we couldn't guarantee specific depth for the holes. It depends on what type of soil, how wet it is, etc. Thanks for your patience.
