Awesome, Ron was able to take our dream drawings and turn them into a reality. We love the work that he did. Our pool and back yard look amazing and so much of it has to do with the work Ron did.

See above. Was very pleased with the work!!!
Description of Work: I have a decretive concrete driveway that was installed by another contractor. The last two years Rose concrete has repaired and sealed my drive way. To do so it required a lot of prep work and then matching of the color since it is colored a dark Gray. The work was done very professionally and the places that were repair have not come lose. I highly recommend Rose Concrete.

It was an excellent experience from start to finish. I waited to write this review to see how the work held up through a winter. It looks as good today as the day the work was finished! I would use this company again in a heartbeat!

This company is a pleasure to work with. Ron Ash, owner, has a really good combination of expertise, professionalism, and care for the customer. Our project was a concrete patio replacement at the back of the home. It looked easy -- quick demo and quick replace. But along the way, there were many obstacles to overcome -- extra deep inches of concrete to excavate, rock walls and glass doors to protect, limited slope for drainage, and another concrete slab to tie into. Ron's expertise and professionalism allowed him to stay cool at every point. We were able to work together smoothly throughout the process -- even when the team had to change tactics in demolition and again when they had to pour the concrete deeper than expected to ensure a good final product. His entire team is kind, respectful, and a joy to have at the house. I am a hands-on, motivated homeowner who likes to understand and be involved in the process and Ron allowed for that motivation, ensuring a good feeling all-around. I have considerable experience with house projects and remodeling and have never written a review for someone who worked on our house. After working with Ron Ash, I was inspired to do so. He is able to work constructively, determine a successful course of action, and ensure that the final product is great -- a combination of talent that is not easy to find in Utah.

It was good. I asked them to use two color concrete for the driveway. They took up the old driveway and hauled it away. They also adjusted the pitch so the water runs off the driveway better now. Driveway looks fantastic. The two color concrete looks great and matches my house. People tell me my home looks like it should be in Better Houses and Gardens.

The timing and quality of the work, the involvement of the owner and his people was all first class and a very high caliber. He removed the existing driveway, redid the foundation and then reset with along with a sidewalk. The concrete was reinforced with rebar and the finished surface was broomed to give it traction as the driveway is sloped. Then there was a sealer coat applied to it. The back patio changed required the removal of the existing wood decking. The patio is two level and chapped and contoured. The finish is a stamped stone effect. To highlight the stones he colored some with different tints, this he did by hand. Then it was sealed. The entire project was done on an agreed upon time schedule and the overall quality of work is excellent. To say that we are extremely pleased with the final result would be an understatement. Ron handled everything in a very professional and courteous manner and the result is proof that he is a master at his craft.
Description of Work: He replaced the existing driveway and front sidewalk and installed a patio in the backyard. The patio was multilayered and finished stamped concrete.

DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR! In May of 2013 Rose Concrete replaced my driveway; it started falling apart less than six-months later. I made numerous calls and emails in a vain attempt to have the work replaced. However, after initially returning my calls and emails, the owner of Rose Concrete will no longer respond. Despite the owner?s claims that he would do whatever it took to make things right, I am now forced to address this issue through legal channels. When the owner of Rose Concrete initially came to our house to put together his estimate he seemed resistant answering questions posed by my wife. With me his tone was abrupt but civil. Having come from the construction industry, I rationalized he just wasn?t comfortable answering questions posed by women, but he?d be fine working with me. The morning he started work on our driveway my daughter called to ask if she could let them into the garage. Apparently they asked for access to make screeding and finishing the driveway easier. Unbeknownst at the time, Rose had already started the pour and had splashed concrete all over my garage door, which, I suspect, is why they asked to have the door raised in the first place - they didn?t want to make it worse. I didn?t discover the garage door had concrete all over it until several hours later when Rose Concrete was done. By that time the concrete was cured and couldn?t be removed without damage to the door. When my daughter called to ask if she could provide access to our garage I decided to go home to ensure the valuables in my garage weren?t left unsecure. While I was home I monitored the progress of the pour. After several hours working the concrete I began to worry Rose Concrete was taking too long to finish. My background in the industry taught me that overworking concrete frequently leads to a failed application. On at least two occasions I asked the owner if he didn?t think he was overworking the concrete. He flatly said ?no?. I explained my concerns about overworking the concrete and he stated something to the effect that his reputation was everything to him and he would do ?whatever it took to make it right.? My experience has taught me that isn?t the case. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Rose Concrete. If you choose to hire them, I strongly recommend you include a specific warranty in your bid that covers chipping, cracking and spalling. Otherwise, you are on your own.

One deficiency with the construction of the driveway, discovered prior to the start of construction that [member name removed] failed to mention in his Angies List review, was the lack of proper slope of the old, existing asphalt driveway from his garage slab to an existing iron drain grate located near the end of the driveway, which it was discovered had much less than 1/8" per foot of slope. We require a minimum of 1/8" per ft and prefer a slope of 1/4" per ft or more to ensure adequate drainage and to prevent snow and ice from sitting on the driveway for long periods of time. This pre-existing lack of proper slope condition was pointed out to [member name removed] with several methods to correct the condition. One method was simply lowering the grade to a 1/4" per ft slope and channeling the surface water off to either or both sides of the pavement or installing a new drain grate. The potential lowered slab elevation would have resulted in the new driveway to be a few inches below the existing lawn. (which could have need addressed with a small curb wall or regrading the exisitng grass to mee the new driveway elevation) Even though it would void the warranty [member name removed] failed to follow my advice on the importance of proper driveway slope and declined all solutions to correct the improper slope and directed me to remove the old asphalt driveway and install the new concrete driveway to meet his existing elevations, even though the slope was less than industry recommendations! [member name removed] was advised that he would need to be extra diligentin the normal maintenance and care of the new driveway in order to achieve a long-life durable pavement that would include the timely removal of snow from the driveway before it freezes into ice, Saturated concrete surfaces are much more susceptible to surface damage during freeze thaw conditions, especially if salt is applied or drips onto the slab form parked vehicles. Even air-entrained concrete driveways with proper slopes may scale if precautions are not observed. New concrete, especially driveways less than one year old, need to be protected from the harsh winter environment. The Rose Concrete crew was extremely diligent in the installation of the new driveway wiith the knowledge that the slope was minimal. Extra water was not added to the mix prior to placement beyond a normal 5" slump. The entire length of the 16.5' wide concrete surface was screeded with a straight edge 20' aluminum cutoff screed in a single pass to ensure a smooth surfsace with no high spots, puddles or dips. The concrete surface was finished from the outside perimeter with a magnesium bull float. No water was applied to the surface during the finishing operations, at all! Crack-control joints were properly constructed from the outside perimeter with extension poles. Hand finishing and extra hard surface steel troweling on kneeboards, which can lead to weakened surfaces was not employed during the finishing process. A medium bristle paving broom was screeded across the semi plastic concrete surface to produce a consistent medium broom non-slip surface. Multiple coats of a commercial grade concrete curing and sealing compound was applied. Kilgore Altaview, the ready mixed concrete supplier is conducting an investigation on the proper mix proportioning and total hardened air content of the concrete they provided for the driveway. Technicians noted the following observations; The in-place compressive strength of the concrete is over 5000 psi. No settlement of the new concret slab, at all. No cracking outside of the designed crack-control joints. Evidence of salt was present on the surface. Moderate to light scaling of the concrete surface was noted in some areas from damage caused by freezing and thawing in the presence of moisture and/or salts. The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association recommends driveways have a minimum 1/8" per ft slope, and do not use deicers or salts on new concrete driveways the first two winters. Any potential remediation efforts by Rose Concrete will require methods to include corrections to owners existing slab slope conditions. I look forward to a resolution to this matter pending the Kilgore Altaview findings. My goal continues to be involved in the construction and consultation of high-quality, long-lasting, structurally sound concrete projects in partnership with forward-thinking, open-minded individuals, owners, contractors, engineers and ready mixed concrete suppliers. I am available to discuss this matter with any interested parties. Ronald Ash, 801-368-3824, Rose Concrete Additive Company, rcac77@aol.com, [hyperlink removed]

The owner was very responsive and helpful upfront. They seemed quite professional will beautiful brochures and a nice website. They were not problem solvers. They would be great if you have a perfect setup with no glitches. In the end the floors look nice but there was definitely some poor quality work that I would have complained about if I had had the energy after getting everything.

The garage floor is a suspended slab with an office and laundry room below. The contractor had used an epoxy sealer which cracked when then concrete cracked resulting in water penetrating to the rooms underneath the slab. Rose Concrete understood the problem and provided a flexible seal that has resolved the leaking.

After contacting 5 different concrete companies and getting no response, I checked on Angie's List and found Ron from Rose Concrete. I absolutely LOVED Ron and the job he did for me! He promptly returned my phone calls, was on time for every appointment, had great design ideas and the execution of the job was flawless! He took extra time to make sure everything was perfect. Ron is a craftsman. He takes personal pride in making sure you get the best quality product. He does much of the work himself and you can tell he really cares about doing a great job. When we called he came out personally and bid the job. He suggesteda alternatives that we had not even thought were possible within our budget. Everyone who worked on the job was professional and you can tell they knew exactly what they were doing. He did such a nice job we ended up adding on some decorative rock in several places as well. Honest, reliable, dependable and an overall excellent experience all at an extrememly competitive price.

Ron shows up on time every time. He makes sure the job is what you want before and during the pour. If conditions are not right, too cold, too rainy, whatever, he has the smarts to tell you and NOT do the job that day or week as he wants to make sure that the job comes out perfectly each time. I consider him to be one of our very best vendors and as an owner of a number of properties and as a realtor, I recommend him without reservation.
Description of Work: Ron has done several jobs for us on our avenues rental properties over the last few years. 2 Big driveways, basement remodels, small sidewalks and other little custom things that are sometimes in locations that are tough to get to. He does a nice detailed budget, has great ideas on how to take your idea and tweak it to make it better and is one of the few articulate, truly professional people you'd want to work with in the business. I will be hiring him for a few more jobs this year as well.

Ron Ash was great to work with. The promptly did a bid and work started within a month. He has some great suggestion to improve the design and drainage. It took about 2 weeks from start to finish because there were 3 different pours and surfaces. During the project I had a couple of additions and he worked them in with no problems and charge me a very fair price for the additional work...within 5% of the original bid. I highly recommend Ron Ash and Rose concrete.

Ron Ash called me on Saturday, apologizing for the time of the call, but asking me if I was satisfied with the work. Ron then asked me two questions: 1. We had discussed the fact that he might want to place a Geotech structural subgrade fabric to stabilize the earth and material under the concrete which would reduce the possibility of cracking due to fluctuations in temperature and moisture in the earth. He said he wouldn't charge for labor but would I cover the cost of the material. I didn't hesitate to agree to this add-on. 2. I had asked him to remove a small triangle of concrete that had a large crack in it and replace it with new concrete. Ron indicated that he had to saw cut the area and would I mind paying for the demolititon and removal of that piece which again I agreed to. In my opinion, if I had refused either request, I believe that he may not have insisted that I pay for it as it was not in the original quotation. The two items cost was less than $100 and after knowing that he had replaced a drainage line from a down spout and had capped off several irrigation lines, I felt it was more than fair that I incur the additional cost. Price is important, but professionalism, timeliness and follow up for me are more important. I feel that if you need work done that requires a professional, that you call Ron Ash and ask for a quotation. I feel that the results you receive will be what you expect and you will be pleased with the results. I also have a grass strip running the length of my driveway in the center that is 3'x62' and I want it to be replaced with decorative colored and stamped concrete. I will be contact Ron to complete this task. If you are looking for a stamped patio or decorative concrete work to be done, call Ron and he can forward you pictures of the work he has already done. I feel confident in recommend him and feeling that you will be as satisfied as we are with the finished work.
Description of Work: I contacted three concrete companies recommended to me to install a concrete pad approximately 17x28 beside an existing garage and a white vinyl fence that needed to remain pristine. The first response was from Mr. Ron Ash, Rose Concrete Additive Company that afternoon. I was contacted by the second company two days later and the third company, three days later. Ron arranged to meet me at our home in West Jordan the following day at a predetermined time. He arrived promptly and proceeded to tell me about his company. He observed the area that needed the pad, took measurements, asked me questions about the project and what I expected. He observed that a drainage pipe would need to be adjusted and several irrigation system heads would have to be capped as well as dealing with the white vinyl fence on the opposite side of the existing garage. He emailed me a quotation that same evening and I told him that I had two other installers that would be providing me quotations. I met with two other installers at a later date and waited two days for the second quote and four days for the third. After reviewing the three quotations and remembering the punctuality of the other two installers, Ron's quotation was the most competitive but the response was even more important to me as it indicated that he would probably be the most prompt; a trait that I equate with professionalism. Ron gave me a start date of about noon on March 14th and when I arrived home that evening, I found that the area had already been excavated, removed and hauled away, they had imported new gravel subgrade material, compacted the area, placed pressure treated lumber between the fence posts against the fencing to r***** grass and weed growth, placed repar dowells drilled into the existing foundation to support the concrete slab to be poured. I was astounded that they had been able to do that much work in that short a period of time. I talked with Ron that evening and he indicated they were planning on pouring the concrete the next day. I stopped by the house at noon on Thursday and the concrete was poured and they were finishing the smoothing of the material. Ron returned on Friday and cut seams in the concrete to help reduce or eliminate cracking and the area was swept and cleaned of all remnants of the construction project.
