We are sorry about the lack or response. We will do better in the future. Sometimes (Especially when we are really busy) we focus on our existing customers too much and don't leave enough time for new customers.

Job went as well as anybody could hope. Tim Barnes visited 2 or 3 times to bring samples of the material and discuss specs. Quality of the work is outstanding; we could not be more pleased with this deck. There were a couple of very minor issues following the work and they came right back twice and took care of them. Premises were left clean each day.
Description of Work: Redid old 43 X 10 ft deck with Trex Transcend composite with hidden fasteners; redid 4-step set of stairs to match; added framing for border and to support existing framing; added 2" x 6" boards to each joist and added blocking for "picture frame" boards along perimeter. Job required removal and later reattachment of steel handrails and, of course, removal of all old material.

We were going to get windows and installation from Peachtree Windows and Doors. Then I talked to Red Deer and they convinced me that they could do a better job with a better window. When it was time to install, Red Deer brought some of the wrong style windows. We made some changes in our plan to accommodate. It was frustrating, but they gave us a discount on them so we rolled with it. They said we could apply for incentives from the gas and power companies. Then, I was looking over the Millgard Window information today to apply for these incentives from the power and gas companies, and noticed that these windows are not Energy Star rated in Utah, and they do not meet the specifications to qualify for any incentives. This is just blatant abuse of a client and unforgivable in my opinion. You don't install windows for energy efficiency that aren't considered energy efficient for the geographic location they are being installed. The window receipts say "Energy Star" on them, and then in the fine print, it says "US Climate Zones, South Central and Southern". We're in Utah which is considered the Northern region.
Description of Work: Replaced 10 old windows in our house with new ones. Our primary issues were weatherization for comfort and energy efficiency.

All services were performed in a timely manner. We did have an email and estimate mix-up but this was resolved quickly and affably. They were very nice to work with, personable and seemed to anticipate our needs. Will work with again.pri
Description of Work: Tim and his crew built a deck off the back of our house. This entailed moving a sprinkler feed and doing some other things like installing a doggie door. They also did some small electrical work in the garage, adding outlets, etc.

We liked that Tim's crew was very quiet and respectful, and they kept the worksite tidy. Tim also responded to our concerns promptly - When we noticed that an exterior door had been damaged, he acknowledged that it was damaged by his crew, and he replaced it; When we noticed a split support beam on the new deck, he replaced it; When we felt that the decking wasn't properly sealed to the house (and were worried about potential water damage), he sealed it. He was also very pleasant when we wanted to make changes after the project was underway (for instance, we asked that he pour a new concrete pad under the deck stairs, and that wasn't part of the original plan). We were a little disappointed that the project took longer than planned and was started later than we had expected. Sometimes we weren't sure of their schedule and when they would be coming to work on it, so it would have been helpful to have better communication. Overall, we are pleased with the final product and found that Red Deer was pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: Tim and his crew tore down and rebuilt a large second-story deck with staircase.

Thanks for the review. This project was a little different, we only met with the Home Owner once because he lives in a different state.

They got back with me the next day after I emailed them initially. They at first told me that it would be two weeks out for the work due to weather delays. After not hearing anything from them, I called back and they said it would be another two weeks. The third and final time I called them they said it would be another 4 weeks. I decided not to go with them because I needed to get the work done.

Thanks for the feed back. I apologize for the delays and that we weren't able to help you. It was our busy season and we had jobs booked out for about 2 months. Our plan was to work your job in between other jobs because it was only a 1 day job. Because of weather and other things we were having a hard time doing that.

They are very good. I spent $12,000 on that work. They did a very good job. There was a problem and they came back and corrected the problem. My daughter and I were happy with them.

I would definitely call Tim again if I had another contracting project. I would also refer him to others.
Description of Work: Tim was very professional and I knew he had a lot of experience. He worked with me on the estimate and was willing to renegotiate his proce when presented with other bids and questions about work. I didn't choose Red Deer (Decko) because I found a contractor, also on Angie's list, that I felt more comfortable with. I paid a little more but felt that the contractor had more ideas that worked with my plans.

We've dealt with a lot of contractors and it's usually a painful experience. However, we were very pleased with this experience. The deck looks very nice. The work was done on the committed date and for the original estimated price. Tim was very responsive and was sure to make everything right. They didn't ask for any payment upfront and this meant a lot after the first contractor walked off the job with our deposit. Red Deer (DeckCo) has integrity, did exactly what they said, and made sure we were happy with everything. This is rare in our contractor experience.

This was a great family to work for. We enjoyed building their deck and we were also hired back to finish their basement. The basement was started by another contractor that didnt do what they promised.

They were very good and they just finished the work. Their price was good. I liked their job but the two weeks job went on for five weeks. I wouldn't use them because of that reason.

This was an upstairs bathroom remodel which can be a pain for the home owner as the project drags on because of the access through their house that they are living in to get to the project. We are sorry it took longer than expected. Our biggest problem was scheduling with the guys we hired to do the cabinet and counter top.
