The cabinet shop and granite fabricator/installer selected and used by Dan of D & D were excellent, with absolutely no issues in regard to workmanship, schedule and quality. D & D provided excellent service, and excellent craftsmanship installing all of the cabinets. If there was one issue, which was minor, clean up could have been a bit better, but overall; pricing was excellent, quality was excellent, and the cabinets and granite counter tops in the kitchen and the three bathrooms look magnificent. I would in the future, and have already recommended Dan Shumway - D & D Custom to others who are equally pleased. D & D Custom are first rate!

Dan Shumway of D&D Custom Inc replaced our worn cabinets and dark brown counter tops with elegant cherry wood cabinets and grey granite counter tops. The cherry cabinets are medium tone cherry, like a beautiful chocolate color. The results are breathtaking. I would highly recommend him.

Dan worked with me on the design. He has a very calm , no pressure approach to working with you. He went at our pace as we made decisions on the various elements we wanted. Once we had all the pieces and styles selected he did the parts that I could not do such as the counter tops, cabinets, tile work and electrical.

Dan is very professional, maintained open communication and arrived on time every time. He helped us design new cabinets and counter top for our kitchen remodel. The cabinets are high quality and beautifully built. Dan installed them himself with attention to detail and pride of craftsmanship. We also had a granite counter top fabricated and installed. The counter top installers had to come back to fix a minor scratch and Dan followed up to make sure we were 100% satisfied with the job done. I called Dan about a month ahead of time to schedule an appointment for an estimate on new kitchen cabinets in our vacation home. I explained to him that we were coming from out of state and would only be there for a short time. We agreed on a time and date and he said he would be in touch to confirm. I didn't hear from him so I called him a few hours before his scheduled arrival time. I left a voice message and he didn't call me back. I then sent him a text and after playing phone tag a few times, we finally spoke. Dan said that he was really busy and didn't have time for our project. He also expressed concerns with the distance to our home. I appreciated his honesty, but he put me in a really bad spot by not telling me he wasn't interested in working with us prior to a couple of hours before his scheduled appointment time. He knew the distance to our home when he scheduled the appointment. I then had to scramble to find another cabinet maker to come out on short notice to give me an estimate. Advance notice of his intent to cancel would had been greatly appreciated and would have given him an A+ for professionalism

The measuring for the new countertop and the demolishing of old countertop went very well. There was a delay in the materials so we had to wait but the countertop was installed by the middle of September. The only stall was the backsplash which took a long time to get all the install and the grouting and the sealing done. Dan S. coordinated all but the last bit with the tile backsplash finish work.

I had a limited period of time to do some kitchen improvements and was very impressed with D & D. Dan was great at communicating with me and even though we had a tight time frame, he made it work. The install went quickly and the countertop looks great. I would definitely use D & D in the future. Thanks for the great service!

I wish their were more service providers like Dan Shumway. I had a big list of things I wanted remodeled and after several bids Dan was my first choice. He was fair with his price and the kind of person you trust in your home when you cannot be there. Dan was so easy to work with. He was so good at communicating about when things were going to happen. Even the sub contractors he used were the best! I am an extremely picky person and I changed some things on Dan more than once. He was easy going and just went with the flow. The most important thing about this review is that the project turned out better than expected. Everything looks amazing and you would never know that we added on to our island. I would not hesitate to recommend D & D Custom to anyone. If I ever need work done again I know who I am going to call.

Dan, owner of D&D, was amazing! I have never undertaken a project like this and believe me, I was very nervous! The interior designer I used prepared me for the worst in terms of how "unreliable" contractors can be. Dan was always on time and there when he said he would be; there were only a couple of exceptions and in those rare cases, he ALWAYS let me know he was running just a bit late. Seriously, who does that anymore?! He was extremely knowledgeable and professional. There were several times when I would defer to his opinion and was always happy with the result. My cabinets turned about absolutely beautifully! I had a bar in my kitchen removed and in place of the bar, installed an island. Dan suggested I save a section of the bar to be used in the new island. This saved me money! I would've never thought to save that section and he could've just as easily not suggested it. I would trust him implicitly. I never felt like Dan was nickel-and-diming me either. Even though installing the hardware on my cabinets was not in the initial bid, he put those on my cabinets and didn't charge me extra. This may be a bit goofy to say, but I have a 12-year old daughter who was either home (summer time) during the remodel or I had to find somewhere for her to stay during the day while contractors were there. Dan was the ONLY contractor that I felt 100% comfortable with my daughter being there home alone. You can immediately tell that Dan takes pride in his work; he has amazing attention to detail. He had to cut the cabinet top (or molding) a certain way to fit with our vaulted ceiling. I was nervous this would look modge-podgey. Not at all! It looks great! I would recommend Dan for literally any job! In fact, I will go out of my way to recommend D&D and have already done so.

Dan was great to work with. He gave me lots of options without being aggressive about selling a certain style. He was always on time and if he happened to be running late he was great about calling to let me know. He also gave me great advice on matching my cabinet colors with other colors in my basement. He worked quickly and cleaned up after he had the cabinets installed. Getting the initial bid from Dan took longer than I expected, but that might have been a miscommunication on my part. As soon as I let him know that we were ready to move forward and that I'd like to get the cabinets done as quickly as possible, he was very responsive about getting me all the information and placing my order. I checked with a few other cabinet makers and Dan's estimate was competitive if not better than all the other estimates I received. He was also great about returning to make repairs from damage caused by other contractors and making adjustments. He was at my house either the day I called him or the day after to make the repair. We have been really happy with our cabinets and it was a great experience working with Dan. I will definitely use him again and I highly recommend him.

After a careful research of countertop firms in our city, including those evaluated in Angie's list, my wife and I solicited bids from two granite countertop specialists. Dan Shumway, owner of D&D Custom, won out because of his courtesy and professionalism, competitive pricing, and commitment to do the work immediately. The other bidder would have required 6 weeks for carrying out the contract and lacked Dan's engagement. One major detail complicated the job and we were very impressed by the expertise with which Dan and his fabricator, Cory, eventually resolved this complication. Since we had opted for retaining (and restoring) our old non-standard solid wood cabinetry Dan had to make major modifications to his template. We also wanted to have a stainless steel under-mounted double sink, a wish which further complicated the template process. As it turned out, a regular double sink could not be accommodated. We then decided to have two separate sinks, close to the size we wanted, installed side by side. Dan was able to find the perfect sinks that Cory then was able to under-mount in the limited countertop space he had available. Numerous phone calls and several Web searches were necessary to resolve the issue. We greatly appreciated the effort and concern with which Dan kept us abreast of developments and suggested ways of moving forward. Cory and his crew were cheerful, professional, and installed the granite in record time. Thanks to Dan's energetic pursuit of the project and Cory's quick and expert fabrication we were able to have the countertop and sinks installed within 15 working days. Our countertop looks gorgeous and immeasurably enhances our kitchen, even in its still unfinished state. We are grateful for the quality of workmanship and attention D&D provided us and recommend them unreservedly to the attention of Angie's readers.

Dan was awesome! It's hard now days to find a contractor committed to customer service. Dan always followed through with his estimates (I'm afraid I had a lot of "options" I wanted pricing and he was sooo patient which I really appreciated.. He took the time to go through each option with ideas and pricing. His pricing was fair and his work was high quality. We still have to do our bathrooms and I plan on calling Dan when we are ready. I would highly recommend him.

I had received a prior quote from another Angie's List provider for new quartz countertops, undermount sink, and cabinet modification that I considered excessive. I went back to Angie's List and contacted Mr. Shumway. He was able to find the same quartz for approx. $3,000 less and suggested I might be able to get granite at a lesser price. Great suggestion. I found the granite that is perfect for my kitchen. In addition, he also gave me a quote for crown molding and installation of the tile backsplash. Even with providing my own plumber I saved approx. $3,500 from the first quote while getting the additional crown molding and backsplash installation. Mr Shumway is very professional and easy to work with. With his scheduling my kitchen downtime was minimal. He and his subs were prompt, did their work quickly and well, and cleaned up before they left. I now have a kitchen I love.

I am a real estate agent and have worked with many different contractors on lots of projects for my clients.I highly recommend Dan and his fellow contractors, to do your job.We absolutely love our new granite that was installed by All Tops.They did everything humanly possible to make sure that we were satisfied with the complete job.My wife is a perfectionist (which I warned Dan before he took the job)and she also is very happy with his work.Everyone showed up on time and performed their jobs in a timely manner.I felt like their prices were very fair.Do not hesitate to use their services. Dan always looked out for our best interest and made sure things were right.It was great to have someone else responsible for the completion of all the work.

It went well. Dan showed up to give us a bid when he said. When we decided to go with him over several other companies he showed up to do the measurements when he said he would. The install date that he gave us was sooner than any other companies that gave us a bid and the install happened on schedule. The counter tops were installed by another company All Tops who Dan uses to do the fabricating and install and they were also great to work with. Dan came back to inspect the counters after the install and to make sure we were happy. We were. I would use Dan and D&D again. One thing that would have made it better was if Dan could take credit cards, but not that big of a deal.

Cory did a great job. He used 3 cm slabs instead of 2cm. I have a countertop that is 104 inches and he created a whole piece for that length and did not cut it in half! (As did the prior fabricator whom I replaced with Cory through D & D Customs) I had a couple issues and they were both resolved. However, it did take Cory a while to get back to me, so I gave them a C on responsiveness. So on the one hand, Dan honors his satisfaction guarantee though it took a while and repeated attempts to get the issues finally resolved. Overall, they did a good job and I plan to use them again for my basement.

I purchased a deal coupon for this contractor. The value of the coupon was for $300 of cabinetry work for $200. The contractor, Dan, came to my home on Monday Feb 16, 2015, to look at what I wanted to have done. I wanted a 36" cabinet removed so I could install a new 30" range. Dan was asked to install two pieces of unfinished oak, one on each side of the range to give the cabinets/range install a finished look. I also asked this contractor to give me a bid for a cabinet to be installed in my laundry room. Dan was told the work, pertaining to the kitchen range, needed to be finished by Friday, Feb 20, 2015, because the appliance installer was coming on Saturday, Feb 21, 2015. After coming to my home the one time, Dan called to get my email so he could send pictures of decorative wood pieces that could be used next to the sides of the range. He said he would be in touch shortly to give his bid. He needed to contact a supplier for some prices. Dan never called again. On Thurs, Feb 20, 2015, he sent an email that simply stated he still needed to talk to his supplier for a price! I haven't heard from Dan since. Please note, the contractor that I called at the last minute to do the job that Dan was to do responded immediately. He had no issue cutting out my 36" cabinet and obtaining two pieces of unfinished oak approx. 31" to place on each side of the range. This contractor charged me a total of $245 and had the kitchen ready when the appliance installer arrived Saturday, Feb 20, 2015!

Dan was great. Very helpful and willing to do what was an out-of-the ordinary request. He was there when he said he would be and he finished his work promptly (though he did have to wait for the custom cabinet maker, who was backed up). We would definitely recommend Dan and work with him again!

Dan was very professional. I had a quote from Home Depot that was quite a bit more than what Dan charged. He recommended doing a taller back splash so we would not have to repair the sheet rock from where the old counter top was removed. The minimal cost to do that was well worth it. We were left with a finished product and did not have to make any repairs to the existing walls. I have already scheduled him to do another apartment.

The remodel went perfectly. I mostly knew what I wanted, but Dan had some excellent ideas which I used. He also took the time to hunt for the counter tops I wanted (they were quite hard to find), and told me where to find them. I probably would have settled for something else if he had not done this. But because Dan found them I got exactly what I wanted. The complete kitchen remodel only took six weeks. Except for a couple of days, someone was there working everyday. Dan always returned my calls and kept me informed. I felt like it was total teamwork. Bottom line - I love my kitchen and so does everyone who sees it. It would be impossible to more pleased and satisfied.
