Description of Work: First I tried Home Depot's contractors but they couldn't do all the work that was needed so I got Dan who did it all and saved me at least twenty five percent on labor and used superior materials.

Dan walked us comfortably through buying our granite, which was a new and unfamiliar experience for us, and was quick to answer any and all of our questions. He worked with us to get it installed when we were ready for it. The installation was quick and professional. I was delighted with the large selection that was available to us in the lowest price bracket that he quoted. We were easily able to find colors we liked without having to go more expensive. I was also glad that the initial estimate was accurate.
Description of Work: Dan assisted us in the process of selecting our granite, and he got it installed when we wanted it. He guided us through each step that we needed to do, and he followed through with his end of the preparation and installation.

+ -1 moreDan was pleasant and generally easy to deal with. We had some confusion at the outset about pricing. He had bid only installation of the countertop, not demolition of the existing countertops and installation of the backsplash. We got that straightened out before the project started and he stuck with his pricing. He even provided a little countertop support member that was not part of his bid without additional charge. We also misunderstood that Dan was acting as a general contractor rather than as the installer. He did the demolition himself, but had other companies do the installation. All that said, he got everything coordinated so that we didn't have to do anything and we were pleased with the finished product. He showed up on the days he said he would be there, though he didn't always stay as long as we thought he would. We weren't up against any deadlines and we felt the job got finished within a reasonable time.

He is honest, detail oriented, and considers what will be most cost effective during the planning stages. We also appreciated that he listened to what we wanted and designed a beautiful kitchen and bath to fit our space. He was flexible and met us on our hectic schedules and finished the project on time. We highly recommend D&D Custom.
Description of Work: Wow! We are so impressed with our cabinets and granite countertops. Dan designed, delivered, and installed our kitchen cabinets, island with a raised bar, and bathroom cabinetry. He also had granite installed on our fireplace hearth to match. It looks fantastic!

+ -1 moreto have the floor refinished after that. He messed up on his measurements for the granite countertop in the bathroom, so the granite installer had to make some extra cuts on-site. He also forgot to draw in an angle in the countertop that we specifically told him we wanted. The installer had to fix that on-site also. The plumber he sent out to install the sink and faucet hooked up the water backward and my husband had to fix that mistake. He also put the garbage disposal back on crooked (didn't catch all the edges) so it leaked. We had a flood under the sink the first time we ran the dishwasher. Again, my husband had to fix that mistake. We loved the granite installer--All-Tops. They took care of all Dan's mistakes. We also loved the tile backsplash installer--Dave Dowland Tile and the installer was Alex. He did an excellent job. Dan had said he would pick up the tile at Arizona Tile and then forgot that he had said that. He wanted us to. If it had been spelled out in the contract, we would have. We felt there was a lot of sloppiness on Dan's part that other people had to fix.
Description of Work: Dan Shumway came to our house and gave us an estimate of what it would cost to tear out our existing tile countertop, backsplash, and matching countertop in the 1/4 bath across the hall. The countertops were to be replaced with granite and the backsplash was to be replaced with different tile. We were also going to have him replace the kitchen sink and faucet, along with the bathroom faucet. He gave us a quote, which was much better than the other one we received, so we went with him. Later, he had to amend his quote as he admitted he had messed up on some prices. His was still the better quote, so we stayed with him. His contract was pretty simple, but he insisted there were no surprises. When he came to do the template for the granite, I wasn't too happy after he left and I found blobs of hardened hot glue on my hardwood floors that I had to scrape off. He was very nice but scatter-brained. At times I wondered how much he really knew about his work. When he came to do the demo of the tile countertops, he pulled out my stove, again on the hardwood floor, without protecting it, and scratched it badly. We decided we were going to have

+ 2 moreDan gave us a very competitive bid. His price with installation was better than most people for just the cabinets. He gave us many options to chose from. We ended up going with a knotty Alder cabinet which is very affordable and looks great in a Utah home. We went with entry level granite which also looks great. He did a great job installing them in a very old house that is not exactly level or plumb. We opted to put a microwave between two pantries for space reasons and the fit was tricky. Dan came back out and modified the cabinets and the fit is good now. Very polite and approachable. I highly recommending him for any size job.

I have to say I'm a pretty picky customer, but for Dan and the job quality, service, professionalism that he provided, I have nothing but thumbs up. Dan is very knowledgeable about what he is doing, worked hard to help us find the right cabinet and granite that we wanted, and always willing to work with us when we had to modify our plans. Our contractor gave us some lower ball allowance on granite, Dan helped us out by keeping his margin minimal, but not sacrificing the quality of the job, which we really appreciate! He even offers to make an additional trip to fill in a gap in the cabinet that I didn't even notice. If you ever have any cabinets or countertops needs, go find Dan, you'll not be disappointed.

+ 1 moreWhen I decided to build and apartment in my basement I called on Dan at D & D Custom to do the cabinets and countertops in the kitchen and baths. He had provided them for my house and did such a great job that there was no question of going to anyone else. He provides quality service and attention to detail. When one of the cabinets was ready to install it was discovered that it was slightly too big to fit in the space, so he took it apart and rebuilit it to make sure that it fit properly. I appreciated that he always asked my opinion on the way things were being done before he did them so that there was no problems. The work was excellent and I will definitely be calling on him againto do more work for me. I have recommended Dan to family and friends and will continue to do so. His work is top notch and I couldn't be happier with the results.
