The walls were built - BUT within a couple of years they started cracking - the small ones, and quite a few really big ones. We noticed that one of the large ones had a drill hole in it - obviously one which was drilled into which explosives could be placed to blast them out of the ground.
We counted about a dozen or more large ones which cracked within two or three years. There are now probably several dozen which have completely cracked into shards, and 40+ large ones that have completely cracked.
After about 4 years, we contacted the Better Business Bureau with these details. They reportedly passed the complaint onto Bratts. And that we is - we never heard a word from them, or BBB, until the BBB sent our complaint back to us - with the notation that Bratts had failed to respond - and thus, they were closing the issue, as far as BBB was concerned.
Well, that completely squelched any feelings I'd had about the BBB. - if that's all a business has to do when a customer files a complaint - to not respond - so much for any assistance to the consumer!!
Much of the embankment is slowly sinking, along with the cracking stones. We are going to have to replace ALL of that, for many thousands of dollars to keep the driveways from sliding into that irrigation ditch.
By the way, other walls in the neighborhood with similar 'fractured' limestone are still looking good, and with little signs of fractures. We obviously got many truck loads of stone which were very near the point of the dynamite.blasts in the stone 'mine'.
We were a good customer - and mostly fault Bratts for not inspecting the stone being brought to our location, and rejecting any with signs of a 'fractured' source.
It's possible that was overlooked because they could then hold down the cost of the fixed price contract ??

They did great. I thought that they were a little pricey, but they worth it.
