Service tech was efficient and seemed honest; the door sounds MUCH better; it was creaking and groaning quite a bit. The only reason I didn't give a score of A for quality is because after he worked on the unit, the light stopped working, and every time we put in a new bulb, as soon as we try to open/close the door, the light blows, so there may be a short or something in the unit now. I have not contacted the company to discuss this. I would be comfortable with using them again
Description of Work: Took advantage of Angie's List special offer for $9 garage door inspection and tune-up. Tech examined door and working parts, tightened the chain, greased the rollers and explained the operation and the need for us to keep the rollers oiled so they don't deteriorate as quickly. Also took a quick look at our second door, which doesn't get used nearly as much as the main door.

They were knowledgeable. I was comfortable with them since they seemed to know what they were doing and talking about.
Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal from them for a complete garage door tune-up. They also came back out later for a minor adjustment.

GOOD START: The service began with a $49.00 [special-price coupon] tune-up. He arrived on time, and did the inspection, and made a few adjustments. He then sat me down and reviewed the condition of my 13-year old door. He noted that the original sale and installation had NOT included a middle cross-bar, and because of that, this door was bowing in the middle when it was raised up. He also noted the rollers were pretty-well worn out, and needed replacement. He also recommended that I have him install a high quality lubricant on the draw-bar so the receiver can move with less friction, even in cold weather. After examining the parts, and adjustment he was recommending, I agreed to pay him an additional $170.00 to have him do those things while he was present, which he did. I paid him and he left. I used the door for two weeks, and found it working much more smoothly and quietly. I liked the results of his work; though I did notice that when I used it in the "manual-mode," it was slightly heavier to lift, --but I thought that the new cross-bar weight was the obvious reason, and thought no more of it. PROBLEM: Two weeks later, late in a Friday evening about 7:00 pm, the single spring broke. We had two cars in the garage and no way to open the door. I called the tune-up person at Advanced LC, but he did not answer. I left a message on his answering machine tellling him of the broken spring. But he never returned my call, --nor has he called back since. I then called another company to come. That service tech. advised me that to be fair, these kinds of springs break all the time when they get to be this age. But, he also agreed that the installation of the heavier cross-bar "likely could" have increased the weight enough to cause more tension on the spring, and thus a break. He also felt the "tune-up" person from Advanced LC would have been better off to advise me about the additional weight and its possible impact on the spring, and should have also offered to add a second spring to address that possibility. Anyway, I have two new springs, installed, where there was only one before, and the door is working beautifully. DON;T: This was a mixed bag. It is the second time I have bought an Angie's List special tune up coupon, and both have ended up being a bit sour. I am thinking that Angie's 'special' coupon venders aren't given enough scruitiny by Angie's List folks, leading me to think I am less likely to buy others in the future.. =====KWB

Initially we hired the company to do a maintenance service on the garage door. This was quite simple and quick and performed well. A couple weeks later there was an issue with the garage door and we called the company to come look at it. The same rep came and inspected the door to determine the issue and spent a couple hours doing a repair where he replaced the cable wires on each side of the door as one had broken. The follow up service is where the company truly showed their excellent service. Not only did they do all the repairs very well, but they prioritized our issue and came quickly. They also did not charge a service fee as they had just been there two weeks earlier. Instead they only charged for parts of the repair. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needed maintenance or repairs done on the garage door. The true test of a company is when there is an issue/problem and how they handle it and this company showed that they will take care of their customers in those situations.
Description of Work: First, the company came to do a simple check up of our garage door. They lubed the wires and adjusted the door operation as it was catching and often would start coming back up when it was being lowered. A few weeks later the garage door came off it's hinges as one of the cables broke and we called the company to come out and repair the garage door.

Very well. Purchased special for garage door tune-up. Additionally requested replacement to door seals, and repair of door eyes and replacement of door eye wires. I scheduled the appointment over email. This works a lot better that having to call. They were able to accommodate me on the date that I requested. The repairman called me on his way over to my place. I could not make it, so I let him know what my issues with the garage doors were and there were lots of them. He called me a hour of so later, gave me a detailed walk through of his inspection and gave me a quote for all the work that needed to be done to the doors. He was very knowledgeable. He had all the parts he needed to fix my very broken doors with him and said that he could take care of it immediately. I came home to doors that worked well. I paid over the phone by credit card two days after the service was complete.
Description of Work: Complete garage door tune up. Replace rollers and some hinges. Replace garage door seals. Rewire garage door eyes, replace door eyes and install new door eye shield.

I called to make my appointment for the service check and they came out within a hour or two. He performed the tune up and gave me a list of what should be fixed or added with a 30 day price guarantee so I could check with my husband. My husband agreed they needed to be replaced and added and I called and they came back out within the hour and was very fast at fixing it. My garage door now goes up and down and I can hardly hear it now.
Description of Work: After tuning up the door, the service provider pointed out the garage door was missing one of its braces and the cracked hinges. He also showed us the rollers were worn out. He sprayed everything with the lubricant and then gave us the estimate good for 30 days. After wereturned from our out of town trip I called and they came out the same day and replaced the broken parts and missing parts and was here less than half an hour.

Excellent! I'm a new home owner and so I've never had to take care of a garage door before. The representative showed me everything about garage door maintenance and care. He also gave me a quote on a second garage that we may need to add an automatic opener to, just as part of the visit with no extra charge.

He came out when he said he would initially when I called. Once he came he followed through quickly. He did a tune up on my garage door. It was operating a bit roughly. He took care of that and he cleaned up the brackets. That was an extra $10.00. I don't know if I'll call them back because they are a bit out of the way in Ogden. The distance is the only reason. I liked the pricing and the service. He knew very well what he was doing and what needed to be done.

We had purchased a tune up deal from this company via Angie's List with plans to use it the following week. However our spring broke one evening with our vehicles stuck in the garage. They arranged it to get someone out first thing the next morning to get it fixed. They did the tune up along with the other repairs. Update: We're having issues with the door opening again due to the trolley breaking that they just replaced 3 months prior. The repair guy that came out said it was because the springs they installed were not the correct ones for weight of the door. They said it was our fault due to the insulation we added to the door 3 YEARS ago (that insulation was there when they did the springs!) He changed the tension on the springs to help it open and close better and replaced the trolley kit again. However we were not happy to have to pay to replace the trolley kit 3 months later nor to learn that they did the incorrect install and they were not willing to make it right. The tech that came out was very professional and responsive just not happy with the company's decision to not back up the poor job they did previously. Time to find a new garage door company. Cost $99

We signed up for a "coupon" from Angie's list that involved an inspection and adjustment. They accepted the coupon and fixed the door for the same price, no questions asked. I'd use this company again.
Description of Work: We had an inoperable garage door. The house is in the avenues and is probably 60-70 years old so it was unclear what needed to be fixed.

Called the company and explained my concerns with my garage doors. Set up an appointment for two days later. The technician was right on time. I went out to the garage doors and explained the issue with the remotes and the track on the other door didn't engage and wouldn't lift the door. In about an hour the young man had diagnosed the problem, let me know the part wasn't in stock and had it ordered and would be out in two days to finish the repair. When the part came in he called me to set up a time to come out. He was there on time and it took about an hour or so to put in the part and make sure the door was working properly. He left with two cans of lubricating oil and showed me where to apply, about how much to apply and how often. The price was what he said it was going to be. It has been over 6 months and the doors are working perfectly.
Description of Work: Needed new remotes for the garage door opener (both were eithe lost or damaged) and one garage door chain had come off the track. The door with the broken track needed a new part. The serviceman didn't have one on his truck or in stock at the office since it was a 20 yr + old door, but had a new part in two days. Came out on a Saturday and replaced the part. Also, he checked and serviced the other garage door to make sure the track chain was a proper tension and all moving parts moved and inspected the springs and such.

I called this company based on the great reviews in AngiesList. The appointment was made for the very next day. Service was done promptly and efficiently. Serviceman was knowledgeable and helpful and not only fixed the problem, but did an overall check and basic maintenance of the door, motor, tracks. etc.
Description of Work: My garage door motor had a malfunctioning part that kept the door from closing all the way. That part was replaced and the motor checked over. On recommendation of the serviceman, I had him also replace the hinges and rollers on the door, as the existing ones were of low quality and starting to crack. He also greased the tracks and did an overall inspection of the door and motor.

When I purchased the "deal" for Advance Door from Angie's list I was certain the company would suggest I purchase a new garage door opening motor and perhaps a new garage door. The door is origninal and the home was built in 1962. The garage door opener is also very old, but still works. When the service man came out he serviced the opener motor and the garage door and indicated that they were both in surprisingly good shape and did not need to be replaced. He did suggest that the garage door gasket on the bottom of the door needed replacing, which it did. Over all I was very pleased with the company and their service and price.

Our garage door spring broke and the door would not open at all. We had Advanced Door do a maintenance about six months ago so we called them back. They came within a half-hour of their estimated time and completed the work in about an hour. The door opens very smoothly now, even quieter and more stable than before.

The Advanced Door employee called before he came over, was on time, and professional. The door catches and sometimes sticks a little when it is opened. He adjusted it,but pointed out that a roller was missing, and " needs to be replaced, but I doubt you could find that part now, so you need a new door." I asked him to move a roller from the less-used other door, which he did, and it worked better. However, the keypad outside the door no longer works, although it did before their visit. When I called to ask them to send someone back to restore it, they said they didn't know when someone would be in SLC again, but they would be in touch--I've never heard from them again, and the keypad still doesn't work. I got the feeling that they were more interested in selling me a whole new door than meeting my needs. Although the employee was cordial at first, he made me feel like he thought it was a waste of time, since I didn't want to purchase a new door. Is this their real agenda?

From the arrival of the Technician until he left he walked me through everything he was doing to repair the door and fix the problem I was having with my door. After he repaired my door, he then looked at my second door and oil the wheels and rollers. He answered all the questions I had about changing out my doors for something more energy efficient and measured everything so i can get a quote done. Definitely would use them again just because of the customer service and quality of work.

The technician arrived on time and did the work he was supposed to do. About 2 weeks later I had trouble with the garage door not closing and called the technician back to fix it. He did it without extra cost. The problem I had with this service is probably the price charged for the garage door tune up. $98 to tune up two garage doors is too much when you think about the amount of work done. The total time taken was 20 minutes tops. That equates to $300 per hour. Somewhat pricey! The technician made a second visit to the house to fix a problem and did not charge me, so I guess I broke even...But Angies List should consider the price of these types of services before advertising them.
