hardwood floor

This has been a nightmare doing business with The Wood Floor Warehouse! Anyone considering purchasing hardwood floor from The Woodfloor Warehouse should know 5 essential things about this company: 1. They make promises they never intend to keep. 2. They do not care about the safety and well being of their own employees or their customers. 3. They tell lies. 4. They are completely disorganized. 5. They refuse delivery until full payment is made. Paying in full does not mean they will deliver nor does it mean you are "next in line" for delivery. We first fell in love with the solid prefinished hickory flooring at the Home Show at the Sandy Expo Center in January of 2018. It looked beautiful. We put half down the following week with the intent of having our remodel ready for it in May. In March I got four samples of different styles of scraping from Nick and I returned one with my signature on it to show which type of scrape we wanted. We were not ready for the floor in May as we had planned so we rescheduled for June. Also in May we added 140 sf of flooring as we decided to also put wood floor in our entry way after all. We were told 5 times our floor would deliver (6/22/18, 6/29/18, 7/6/18, 7/13/18, 7/14/18). In each case we were never contacted by anyone at the Wood Floor Warehouse to say that they could not meet that delivery date for whatever reason. They just simply never showed up. On July 13th we discovered they did not even know what color we had chosen. They had lost the signed board I had taken in and they had never recorded our color or scrape choice. At that point they had not even stained our wood. All through this time they never returned phone calls when they said they would call us back. NEVER. We found that the only way to communicate with them was to actually go into their shop and talk to them face-to-face. Our contractor went in to talk to them 4 different times. My husband went in 5 different times and I have been in twice. Those numbers are not our totals as we are currently not finished with our project. Even when we'd go in, Deborah would sometimes say "I'm too frazzled right now with you right here. I'll figure it out and call you later." which she never ever did. Their excuses for why they did not deliver were plentiful and pathetic: "Randy (the owner) is out of town." "We lost our best salesman." "We can't get the guys in the back to do what we say." They kept records on a white board and a notebook. On July 14th my husband met a brand new employee named Erik. Erik was not a salesman but he personally promised delivery of our wood by the 17th of July and actually kept in contact with my husband on the 16th and 17th to say that it was indeed going to deliver. On the 17th Erik personally arrived at our house with a flat bed truck stacked high with our wood. There was no delivery crew. It was just him. My husband prepared to help Erik unload the wood himself. He stepped onto the flat bed and cut the strap holding the wood and it all tumbled out pushing him off of the truck and pinning both him and Erik to the ground. The bundles had not been crossed to keep them from shifting in transit. A neighbor of ours heard the wood fall and came running. She did her best to move a few bundles off of my husband and Erik. Erik's left leg was sprained and scraped up. My husband's left arm and chest hurt very badly. Both men had goose eggs on their heads. I rushed home as soon as I heard about the incident. I found them both sitting in our garage in shock and pain. Erik said he called Randy and that Randy said he'd come right away. Randy never came. Another neighbor and my two teenage daughters and I unloaded all of the wood into the house as Erik could not walk and my husband's arm, chest and head hurt so bad. We offered to drive Erik home but he declined and said he'd drive the flat bed truck to his home less than a mile away. We never heard from Randy. By then we'd lost our installer. He no longer hand time in his schedule to install our floor. We found another installer a week later and midway through installation it became apparent that we were short 200 sf of flooring. My husband called Wood Floor Warehouse and they told him he could no longer talk to Erik because Erik was not a salesman there. Again a hollow promise to call him back was given. My husband went in and talked to them face-to-face. He found that they had never actually ordered the additional 140 sf that we had ordered in May. They discussed openly in front of my husband about taking wood from someone else's job to finish our job but in the end told us we'd have to wait the two weeks for our wood to come in. As of now we are still waiting. This has been a nightmare. Our cabinets and finish work have been delayed by this company and we have now lost our second installer and are searching for a third who can come finish our floor if we ever do indeed get it. Yes, the wood is beautiful but DO NOT buy from them.
