Description of Work: I knew I’d made a mistake when one of the guys said, “Well, if you wanted the work done better you shouldn’t have hired a big box company.” This statement pretty much sums up the entire three days of sub-par work done by these people. Cutting the corners is “the best they can do”, which was a phrase I heard over and over again. Simply put, when I’m paying $500/hr., I expect the people who show up to do the work to be master plumbers! Or at the very least, to know more than I do! They weren’t and they didn’t. The vent that they ran to my roof: They did not cut out the shingle for the vent, so basically the flashing is sitting on top of the shingles with goops of tar smeared all around it. They have also blocked the cover to the attic access door, so that now I can’t put it back on. I’m going to have to re-work the attic access cover before winter because right now it’s just a huge hole in the ceiling without a cover. The copper pipe: I paid extra for copper pipe. After the first day of work, there was not only NEW pex that had been installed, they had left the old temporary pex in place. There was also a substantial amount of galvanized pipe that they whined and complain was “too hard”. “Can’t get to it”. Funny thing was, I was pretty sure we were touching it while they said that. The pressure valve: Was not installed until the last day. I had to remind them about it. Just another add on that they were hoping I wouldn’t notice had been left off? Who runs all brand new plumbing with the intent of cutting into it again? It’s like they didn’t even have a plan for the replacement lines at all. They jacked up the entire project from the cutoff valve to the laundry box (which leaked). The condensation pump: The tankless heater needed a condensation pump and a place for it to drain. Being that I own a 120 year old house, nothing is very standard here. So they ran the line around to an old vanity sink drain. They removed the cap, installed this 1/4” line directly into the drain, and called it good. When I complained that fumes would come into the house without a cap, their response was “it won’t be that bad”. At this point I wondered if these jerks were even licensed. After educating him on the purpose of a p-trap, he begrudgingly installed one. The water filtration: I was told that when I purchased the tankless system I would need water filtration for particles per the manufacturer. I had no problem with this until I realize that what they had installed was A) a scale only filter, and B) they had charged me $900 to install a filter that literally costs $70 retail. Needless to say, I flipped my stack. They then recommended a different filter that was only for well water ($100 retail), and I had to do my own online research to get the model number for the filter that I “thought I was getting” ($200). He also promised to give me a replacement filter. Which I do not have. They also had the nerve to take an attitude when I complained about the quality of work that they were providing, and like a three year old child said to me, “you’re not going to be happy with anything we do.”; and then stomped off to his truck in a tantrum. “We’re doing the best we can”, “you shouldn’t have hired a big box company”, “it’s too hard”, “we’re not roofers”, excuse after excuse after excuse for their crappy work. And of all things having the nerve to BLAME ME! for expecting quality for $500/hr. Two days after this fiasco was finally completed, and they were gone, the pipes sprung a leak. I had to call them out on an emergency to redo their crappy work. I still have galvanized pipes on the tub. Theirs a stubby line of pex hanging off of my new copper pipes because they were too lazy to remove it. I still have to replace my roof shingles and the attic cover myself. Buyer beware!!! Way, way, way, way, way overpriced for this sort of crappy cut the corners work. They just want your money, they absolutely no interest in servicing your home with high standards or quality work.
