+ -1 moreTwo of the crew obviously knew what they were doing as far as trimming the trees safely and without endangering our block fence. I was disappointed that the lead man knew nothing about our crab apple tree being diseased and the importance the owner placed on disinfecting cutting surfaces after use on the sick tree. The owner had spent time explaining it to me and my husband. I tried to explain it to the lead man and asked him to cut that tree last. He didn't. The crew did a good job on the very large trees in back yard and removal of one tree in front yard. Was not happy with the youngest of the crew as he was not as careful as he could have been removing the cut branches. He had little regard for our existing plants. He practically pulled half of a large clematis vine from our arbor which took me an hour to re-weave back onto the arbor when they left. Lead man did ask if they had trimmed enough from the oak and had no problem trimming more from that tree. By the time they got to the park strip maple trees, the crew appeared tired and not really interested in doing a top job on those trees. They almost forgot 3 of the trees on the north side of the house. I rate the work on the maple trees as adequate. They were all very polite and I thanked them for their hard work as it was 100 degrees that day. For what they trimmed on maple trees versus what we were charged, I thought that part of the bid was too much. The other prices were completely reasonable and I was pleased with their job overall. Their clean-up was excellent. The reason I would not use them in the future is because the owner did not come with the crew prior to the work or for a final walk through before the crew left. That would have made a big difference in my confidence with the crew in my yard.
Description of Work: Owner is certified arborist. He returned call quickly and made appt. to see our trees. Was very impressed by his knowledge as we walked throughout the yard. He took notes, discussed our mutual love of wild birds and then left us with a written estimate. I called 2 days later to schedule him for the work. His 4 man crew arrived on time, but I was dismayed that the owner did not accompany them to at least review the work we wanted done before work began. My husband spent time explaining things to the owner, but was not here to talk to the crew because he was so confident with the owner's knowledge of what we wanted done. The crew had a copy of our estimate and I walked through the yard with them, but it wasn't the same as having the owner there. We had 5 park strip maples, 1 crab apple, one honey locust, and 1 Bur oak to trim in addition to removal of a choke cherry tree. Services included clean up and removal of debris.

+ -1 moreA renter moved out. I found the tree in the front yard was dead, there were trees in the back yard that needed trimming and one tree looked sick. There were broken branches all over the ground from snow load. Affordable came and gave me a bid. They cut down the tree that was dead and ground up the stump. They trimmed all of the trees that needed it, cut up the downed branches and hauled everything away. They recommended a tree specialist to come and look at the diseased cherry tree. I was happy with the results.
Description of Work: I have used this company before. They are knowledgeable, do good work and show up when they say they will. I was in charge of the trees in the condo complex I used live in, and I used their services numerous times. I now use them for my own house and also for my rental properties.

+ -1 moreThe crew arrived on time and did all of the above tasks efficiently and neatly. They shredded and removed all of the branches and carried away all of the trunk material. They cleaned and raked after they finished and left everything in great order.
Description of Work: The company trimmed four trees, including a very large mulberry that was threatening the electric wires. They removed all but a portion of the trunk of a diseased tree, as I requested. They also removed a large flowering plum tree and removed a very large lodgepole pine and its stump.

+ 0 moreOne day I saw Tom's truck in the neighborhood. Knowing we had tree problems I approached him and asked if he could come and take a look. He came right over and knew immediatley what the problem was, viral blight, and that the only option was removal. There was a delay of several weeks between the bid and completion of work, due to a humming bird nest being in 1 of the trees. Tom was willing to wait and not change the price quoted, as he too loves humming birds. Tom called to let me know the day the work would be done. The work had been completed a promised! I was very happy with his service, and would not hesitate to use him again should the need arise. I had lanscapers who while they were here talking abouty planting bushes, ect. give me bids on removal and they could not beat Tom's price! The crew that showed up to do the work was professional, courteous, on time, and did a marvelous job.
Description of Work: Removed 2 diseased trees from front yard, ground stumps and removed all associated debris.

Description of Work: I called around to get a tree pruning done, and this was referenced on AngiesList. I gave him a call, and he called me back with an estimate. I hired him for the work. The following day, he came while I was at work, and left an invoice on the door for the amount he'd specified. The job was done to my satisfaction, and the tree has grown out nicely.

+ -1 moreI have used this company on several occasions over many years and have always been pleased with their service. Most recently, I left a message for Tom and asked for a bid. I arrived home a day later to find the bid under the front door mat. I called give approval to go ahead with the work. There was a delay of a few weeks between the bid and completion of work, but it may have been due to very rainy spring weather. Tom called to let me know the day the work would be done. I left a check for him, and arrived home after work to find that the work had been completed as promised!

+ -1 moreI have used this company three times. it is always a good idea to clarify exactly what the service will include and how the job is going to be carried out. Once we had an understanding of the process, the job went very smoothly.
Description of Work: A crew of four men arrived on time and removed a 35ft. apricot tree from my back garden. They used a bucket loader and were very careful about the other trees in the area as well as the garden underneath. They worked quickly. The job was completed and they departed in under 2 hrs. They ground up the stump and were very conscientious about cleaning up debris in the garden, the sidewalk and the street.

It was a little more than I planned to pay, but he had certified qualifications as an arborist. (Its a busy time of year for pruning) I was glad he fit me into his schedule. I was very happy with his service, and will use him again next spring.

The crew accessed the yard by a ladder, which meant I did not have to be at home during the work. The crew took the time to call the supervisor to clarify the scope of work before proceeding. The crew cleaned up before leaving. The supervisor followed my general instructions not to prune too much, so as to retain our shade.
Description of Work: The scope of work included pruning trees around power lines and pruning deadwood within a dense oak stand in a sloping backyard. The scope included removal of pruned wood and a pile of previously pruned wood.

Description of Work: I had a cotton wood in my front yard which I wanted to remove and I have an American Elm in my back yard which needs to be trimmed as it is hanging over some electrical lines. I called up three Tree Care Services to get quotes on what it would cost to have these removed. (Affordable Tree Care, Reliable Tree Care and Advantage Tree Care). Affordable had the cheapest bid, and I called them up and left a message to give me a call to schedule a day to come and have the different things in my yard taken care off. I never got a call back and in the mean while I have moved to Boise for next 6 months to work on a project with Micron Technology, Inc. I decided to postpone the tree cutting till I get back. I was waiting for affordable to call me when I can discuss that I will probably get the yard work done later in the year when I am back in Salt Lake. One of the weeks after I moved to Boise, it seems affordable came in and cut the cotton wood tree. I was furious because no one authorized them to go into my property and take down a tree without me being in the house. What if my roof, sprinkler system or anything else got damaged. More importantly what happened to the Elm, cause that is more important as it is all over the electrical pole. Had they spoken to me and gone over what needs to be done and when it can be done right things would have happened at the right time. Also, on the quote that affordable provided they had very specifically said that I need to sign a contract before any work is done. What happened to that? I was baffled for a few days because I was wondering who exactly came in and took the tree down, because I got a call from Reliable a few days before this incident asking if I had gone over all bids and since affordable was not returning my calls, I told them I am still looking at my options. As expected I finally got an invoice in my mail for $1200 to take care of that tree. I never asked to take care of that tree, it s the other tree which is my higher priority. Over and above the bill has been made to some Virginia R, which is not even my name. If they had the contract they would have known my name. This is highly unprofessional. God knows how many people came to my house that day. I have all kinds of gardening tools in my open shed in the back yard, if anything is missing, they can always be blamed. I have tried to contact affordable twice and left voice message that they need to call me because I did not authorize the work they have done in my yard, and they do not have the courtesy to call back and at least accept their mistake. I am almost ready to claim damages done to my yard.

I did get a discount for paying in cash and the guys were clean cut, courteous and very honest. When they found a watch while working, they immediately brought it to us to see if we were missing it. The other bids that we received were 5000 to 6000 dollars.
Description of Work: After a storm, Affordable cleared 2 trees that fell on top of our house and also took care of another 3 trees that were threatening to fall.

+ -1 moreThe company came out and cut down shrubs and trees. It only took 1 day. The only problem I had was that they did not remove all the brush. Otherwise, they were on time. I would recommend them, but make sure they finish the job by cleaning up properly.
