I looked up the price of a hose bib, mmmm....yeah it’s only $10.00. I canceled the job and the plumber cane to my house the next day and harassed me,..he wanted to know why I canceled the job. I’m home alone with three kids getting bullied by a plumber at Roto-Rooter. Several hours their sister restoration company called me and said the state was concerned with my flooding and mold from my recent need of a hose bib. Our basement didn’t flood and this company tried to represent themselves as the state! I did get the job done by a certified plumber from ACE, total cost $275.00. So...Roto-Rooter upbid by $500.00 and harassed me. Don’t be this companies next mark, they are crooks!"

"Got a quote for water softener and whole house filter replacement work. I had already bought the equipment. Online reviews of the equipment said they had theirs installed for around $300-500. Black Diamond quoted a half-day (4 hours but didn't break down the hourly rate charged in the quote) and cost of $1550 for some PEX pipe and labor...so paying a plumber for a simple job over $350/hour? No, thank you. I don't know if they charge different depending on how nice your house looks or something, but I found that rate offensive. The techs they sent were professional though and seemed to know their stuff."

Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.
Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
