Our point of contact was Gary Courtright who did an excellent job in communicating, estimating, and coordinating the repairs and roofing shingle replacement for our rather large and expansive home in Fruit Heights, Utah, where in some years, the canyon winds through our town can exceed 100 MPH. After 25 satisfactory years on our old roof, we contracted Kimball to complete some extensive roofing plywood repairs, re-flashing, re-membraning, and re-edging of the entire 6,000 SF roof. Per Gary's expert advice, plus Louie and Rohojolo outstanding installation, we ended up with a very attractive and fully sealed roof that will probably last twice as long as our previous roof. We now have a Tamko 50 year architectural shingled and ridged roof that can now withstand winds up to 150 MPH. SUPER. JOB WELL DONE !
Description of Work: 1. Removed: 6,000 SF of old shingles; tar paper; flashing; drip edge 2. Replaced rotted plywood panels 3. Added: New tar paper; new membrane; new flashing; new gutter around atrium; ice shielding 4. 6 nailed Tamko 50 year architectural shingles and ridges

The start date ended up getting delayed by about 10 days due to rainy weather. This was not Kimball's fault. There was a little aggravation caused by the office calling us and saying they were ready to start when they were not (poor communication with the crews in the field). This was not a big deal. Once the crew came they were very efficient and got the job done in 4 days. We are very happy with the way our new roof looks. The crew did a great job with site clean up. So far, I have not found any dropped screws or nails, which is very important if you don't want a series of flat tires (been there, done that). I hope our new roof performs as expected for many years.
Description of Work: We hired Kimball Roofing to replace the metal roof on our house in Timber Lakes Utah. The home is at 8,400 feet elevation so we get a lot of snow and a good roof is a necessity. When our roof leaked this summer during a rain storm Kimball showed up to inspect it the same day we called. We knew the roof was old and had been repaired. He gave us what we felt was a fair priced estimate to either repair or replace the roof. We decided to replace the roof because it was going to be inevitable in a few years even if we had it repaired.

With two areas leaking last winter, I was desperate to hire someone to fix my cabin. Kimball agreed to come up and take a look, after which he recommended we install ridge vents and repair the leaking valleys. I was in a hurry to get the repair done, and I didn't bother looking into the details of the work he recommended or background of his company, as he reassured me that his work was 'guaranteed' for one year after he was finished and if I had any further leaks this winter he would repair them with no charge. Once I sent in my initial downpayment of half, I received a call asking if it would be ok if they started a day late. He reassured me they would still be able to finish on time. I agreed. I don't live at the cabin, but I do have security cameras which allow me to see when they arrived and how long they stayed. I waited the following day and observed they came mid-morning, stayed for less than two hours, then left. I emailed and asked what they had found and for a progress report and got this answer: >>We got rained out,we are back today and will finish today. Thanks Kimball. They next day they didn't show up until past 11am, they stayed less than four hours total and then said they were 'finished'. The bigger surprise came when I received the following email: >>HERE IS THE INVOICE FOR WORK DONE ON YOUR HOME. PLEASE GIVE OUR OFFICE A CALL SO WE CAN TAKE CARE OF THIS. ALL THE WORK IS FINISHED. I looked at the invoice and found an extra $500 charge, on top of the already thousands of dollars I had paid them for only a few hours work! I called their office and they referred me to look at the contract I had signed, which allows them to - without notifying the customer - use additional materials up to $500 on site and bill afterwards. I was upset, but blamed myself for not reading the fine print. I inspected the roof during the summer to find very poor quality workmanship. They had removed the ridge cap from my roof, cut a hole across the ridge of the roof, then re-screwed the old ridge cap back down, leaving the old empty screw holes, instead drilling new screws into the cap and several sections were bent where they didn't lay it down evenly. I inspected the 'areas' they said they had re-flashed and couldn't see any appreciable work done, as far as I could tell they didn't even pull back the metal roofing . Perhaps it shouldn't have been a surprise then when we arrived at the cabin for Christmas this year to find the very same leak! I immediately called Kimball and reminded him of the work he performed and his guarantee to fix any leaks this season. He said given it was Saturday and his crew was off for the weekend it would have to wait until Monday. We had many plans before the holiday so I asked for a time span and he refused to provide a specific time, said "sometime Monday morning". I agreed and spent the weekend emptying buckets every three hours, all through the night. :( Monday came and no one showed up, and even worse, Kimball never called back. I have since looked up more information on Kimball roofing and found that they have faced many complaints, and lawsuits, for their work. I won't repeat it here, but encourage you to do your homework before hiring them.

This company did a pretty good job on the roof, but I am finding that my window seals leek. The company did a great job on the new gutters and drain pipes. The company was pretty fast getting the job done. The two complaints that I have with them is the leeks, and lack of professionalism. The reason that I say this is because, when the workers were tearing off my old roof, one of them also took off with my satelight dish off the roof. When I called about it, the girl in the office was quite rude, and told me that I had told them that they could have it. I didn't say anything of the kind, why would I? They did refuse to return the dish.

Our company policy is to follow-up with customers up to four times. If we receive no feedback from the customer after the four follow-up calls, then we remove the customer from our callback list. This is what 99% of consumer’s expect from a company customer service. Our records state that we called Kristina back 4 different times after completing her bid and left messages all four times and never received any calls back. We will continue with our company policy above. Following up with our customers and providing customer service as best as we can.

Unfortunately we chose a different company for the work, the deciding factor being because of a lower bid. However, this didn't actually save us money, because the company doing the work charged us extra for tear off of a layer they did not detect in the bidding process. Because Kimball's bid was fixed, we would have saved actually saved money by using them. If I had it to do over again, I definitely would choose Kimball instead.
Description of Work: Kimball was one of several companies who provided estimates for a complete tear-off and replacement of the roof on my Salt Lake City home and garage. They were very responsive to requests for additional detail and modified estimates. I was impressed by their professionalism, level of expertise and the suggestions they offered.

The metal had blown off our old roof and under that was an old roof that was a mess. We did not think that we could afford to have the whole roof redone. Kimball came in and helped us figure a way that we could get it done on a budget that we could afford and have it done the right way. We have a roof that we know will last for a long time and that the ice and snow will not be a problem.
Description of Work: Kimball roofing removed the old roof and put on the new roof. They were very knowledgeable and the work was excellent. Kimball explained everything and worked as he explained it. They were always there when they said they would be. His crew was great. We paid them in advance and they still showed up to finish the job :-) Great work Kimball and crew!

I spoke to Gary and received an estimate for replacing my roof in July, however, I did not follow through and schedule the work because I decided to wait a few months and save more money. When I lost my job in October, I called Gary to see if he would come back and give me an estimate on just fixing major leak areas to get me through the season. He met me at the house on a Tuesday and gave me a verbal estimate of the cost to fix the most major damaged area and said he could get it done either that very week on Friday or at the latest the next week. He said he would call me when he know the crew's schedule. I did not hear from him by the next week so I called him Tuesday and Wednesday several times. I left messages asking him to call me but never got a call back. I finally got him on the phone and he said he had to get the estimate in writing emailed to me. I gave him my email address but I never received an email from him. I called him again and left a message asking him to please let me know the situation and to please let me know why he had not gotten back to me at all to schedule the repair. Two weeks later and I still haven't heard from him. My guess is that he quoted me too low on the estimate for repair to the trouble areas or decided it wasn't a project he wanted to take on any longer. I thought it so odd that he would make the effort to meet me at the house, verbally quote me an estimate and then disappear. So, I called Shaw Roofing and they responded to my call right away. Thank goodness.
Description of Work: No services were performed. I received estimates from Gary at Kimball Roofing but he never returned my call to schedule the service.

The roof on our building was leaking in several spots. Kimball roofing was contracted to repair the leaks. They responded, withing a couple of days of when they said they would, and sent two workers to perform the task - approx two days. About a month after the work was completed, we had a fairly heavy snow, which caused the roof to leak in the same spots it leaked before. We called Mr. Strickland, who sent the same two workers out to check out the leaks. They tracked tar over our new carpet, and dented the walls with their ladder, then left saying they don't guarantee roof repairs. Following several calls to the owner we still haven't received a response.

Customer roof is in extremely bad condition and our contract was for a temporary repair for $2843.00. We do not guarantee Roof Repairs because, despite repairing there could be structural or integral damage that warrants a re-roof but the customer chooses to not complete the re-roof at that time. We did offer to pay for the carpet cleaning and we went back and repaired the dent and repainted.

Job started on date agreed upon, three days to complete; work, clean up, and follow through was great. Inspection of new roof was acceptable and balance was paid on 2/19/2008. Shortly after collection of payment balance, company called again requesting payment, they were told their agent had already picked it up. Agent promised warranty would be sent out within the next few days. Two weeks later, 3/13/08 I called as warranty was never sent out. Company did not return call yesterday and have not responded to my call as of 24 hours later. As warranty was a significant factor in choice of company to use, this is a significant concern at this time.

Contract signed and down payment made on 7/17/07. Contacted 7/25/07 at 3 p.m. work would begin 7/26 and be completed 7/27. Swamp Cooler removed during a time average temp was 95 to 100 degrees. Work crew came sporadically for 2 days. Supervisor said they don't work on weekends. I explained I had my mother (82 yrs old) living with me. Heat difficult for her as well as for myself. I have MS. He was sorry but they don't work weekends. Same type of indifference was given to completing this job until it was finally completed on 8/2/07. Finally had to contact job supervisor's boss to get job completed.

The crew was fast, thorough and professional. They did the whole job in two and a half days. The roof removal, decking, FLEX and felt installation was done in one day, so there was never danger of weather-related damage. I got three bids from reputable companies with good marks on Angie's List. All three bids were expensive, but in the end I got a great roof that I will depend on for many years.
Description of Work: The crew removed two existing roofs, disposed of the waste material, installed a FLEX water shield and insulation on flat areas of the roof, laid new decking, felt, water shield and thirty-year asphalt shingles on the remainder. They also cut a 3x3 foot section of the roof and installed a skylight that was purchased from another vendor.

I was contacted promptly by the sales person who gave me a reasonable estimate and we then arranged a time for the work to be done. This was going to be three weeks out, since they were so busy. However, they contacted me two weeks early and the job was started. They were very clean and got the dumpster out of my driveway as soon as the stripping phase was complete. A supervisor came around to inspect the work in progress. The workers were respectful and kept themselves busy. They completed all the work in 3 days and kept to the amount we agreed to on the contract/estimate. Basically, it couldn't have gone more smoothly.
Description of Work: I contracted Kimball to redo a worn out part of my roof with asphalt shingles. They also were to place snow guards on another part of my roof which has aluminum roofing. Lastly, they were to replace my front gutters.
