FINAL UPDATE 03/05/2021: My chief complaint throughout this review has been with the customer service experience after the installation, and my original rating was reflective of that experience. Since getting my issue resolved, I was contacted by the management of Utah Flooring and design and we have spoken at length and they have readily acknowledged that the **ball was dropped** and have offered assurance that they will work to identify what happened so that it does not happen again. This is also customer service and while it does not undo the original bad experience, it does offer levity which I have considered in changing my rating. I have used this company to install flooring twice, and both times the installation has been done very well, so the company does employ good installers. Just make sure you work out any discrepancies or problems before charges are made. ---------- UPDATE 03/03/2021 I am following up on my previous review. The company did finally issue a refund. But not from me calling and emailing for more than 3 weeks, rather they issued the refund because I posted negative reviews. Then they called me and asked what *arrangements* could be made that I might retract my negative review. I did not post the review out of maliciousness, I posted it because it was a factual account of my experience with Utah Flooring and Design. I believe that potential customers should be able to read reviews and have the confidence that they are getting a true representation of a company and not a watered-down version because negative reviews are retracted. If Utah Flooring and Design does not want to get negative reviews, then they need to correct the business practices that lead to them getting negative reviews. ------------- The guy who did my flooring install was great - but his work is not a reflection of **Utah Flooring and Design**. This company has been such a disappointment. For starters, they are ripping off someone, either the installer or the customer (probably both). There was a dispute over what was to be included in my install so the installer showed me his work order. Items I was being charged for were not on his work order, and the square footage was also different, my invoice had 1050 sq ft, but the work order of the installers only had 915 sq ft. The next thing they did was to charge my credit card for the remaining balance before they were even done with the work. This really ticked me off because if they had waited, then we could have made the necessary adjustments to the final invoice before it was charged. But now I am three weeks into trying to get a refund and all I get is a runaround. I was charged for **floor prep** - when I asked what this was, they said it was for floor leveling and for filling in cracks. I do not have concrete floors, it has a wooden subfloor, so no leveling was needed and there are no cracks to fill - they said I would not be charged if they did not do it. Well, that was BS because as I said, they charged my card without verifying that the job was done and/or going over the items to make any necessary adjustments. I would not use this company again if they were the ONLY company.

The work was a very small project to remove and replace two exterior porch tiles. The work started on time and was eventually completed well. Multiple times for the work to be done were scheduled, canceled and rescheduled over a period of several days. The company was good to notify of the schedule changes but they were frustrating.

I had flooring installed in my basement and to say it is a terrible job and product would be an understatement. There are more issues than I have time to state but I have included a summary below: (1) In several areas of my home basement they did not extend the carpet to the wall (i.e. the basement concrete is showing near my baseboard, they did not bother extending the carpet in several areas to cover the floor). (2) in places where they had made a mistake with the carpet cuts near my walls/baseboards, they simply cut out a small piece of carpet and laid it down, hoping that I would not notice. (3) seems are significant in some places (up to an inch), honestly looks like they had people install that have never installed carpet (not an exaggeration). (4) I had them install some basic trim where my laminate was laid, because I already had my baseboards installed and the cuts look like they were made by someone who was never worked use a saw before). Again, this is not an exaggeration, I have pictures that would make it look like they were trying to do this as a joke/prank. Please ask for my pictures and give me the ability to upload, you will BE SHOCKED. (5) the tack strips were laid 4+ inches from my wall in some places, I've never seen anything like this. (6) they have stood me up/no showed for several things over the last couple of weeks (sending out someone to check the work, someone came out and disagreed with me until they finally realized they could not defend the work and they said they would be back in 2 days and they never returned, they no showed for an install, etc.). (7) they have made random charges on my card with no explanation. I emailed for a resolution and got responses that they would let me know in a future email what the charges were for... still have not heard back. (8) the flooring is defective in multiple areas (9) there were several cracks in the Laminate (10) there are bubbles in the carpet, in one spot I can fill something underneath the bubble (feels like they left a towel). (11) in one area they did not even use a tack strip, they just laid down carpet There are a few more as well, but you get the idea. If you were to see my flooring you would be shocked. This is not only a poor job for a flooring company, I would consider this a poor job if I had installed it myself (and I have no idea what I am doing). This company is beyond a joke to work with, they clearly don't stand behind their work or product and they will no show you (even after texting you telling you they would be there in 30 minutes). This type of business should not be allowed. I have disputed the entire charge with my credit card company.

Do NOT hire this company. I went with them because they were cheaper and had availability. However, it was a miserable experience. They contract random workers that did not have much experience in flooring and were very unreliable. The work was shoddily done, the quality control was nonexistent and the customer service ended up with us getting yelled at and the owner made my wife cry. There were a couple of good people involved but the company is too big for the management skill of those in charge. We will hire someone else to finish up the project to make it look ok because we just do notwant to deal with them anymore.

Wonderful experience. Paul was "on it" and was willing to even come over after hours to give us a bid. The work performed by Cody was AMAZING. The kid is FAST and did an outstanding job. I am not used to someone willing to put their head down and work hard. These guys were exceptional. One caveat. Assume nothing...If the work is NOT spelled out in the agreement then do NOT assume that you will get work done that was NOT agreed to. I was expecting to have our shower curtain rehung and the bathroom fixtures reinstalled when the job was completed. That was not specified in the bid and therefore i was on my own to finish the project. My fault for not paying attention to the original bid. I would definitely recommend them and use them again as they were professional, fast, and VERY reasonable for the work that was done. Great experience!!!

Overall, great quality and service. Pricing was reasonable. The project manager Tara was very difficult to work with and seemed annoyed to be answering my questions. Removal of debris was an issue and debris was not picked up until 2 days after the project was completed. The toilet was supposed to be reset, and the office did not confirm this with the tech. Some bumps along the way, but they were able to get my project list (carpet and tile) completed in my timeframe, barely.

After agreeing upon a service date, we made arrangements to be out of the house for 5 days during the flooring work. 2 weeks before the agreed-upon date, Utah Flooring notified me that they were coming on a different date. I explained the situation and they told me that there was nothing they could do. After a week of unresponsiveness from Utah Flooring, I accepted the new date. After they completed the work, they charged my credit card an extra $600. They did this without speaking with me or notifying me. It was $600 more than the agreed-upon amount, and no changes had been made to the original scope of work. They refused to refund this amount, said it was my fault for choosing a difficult finish, and claimed they could charge me without notifying me (even if no changes were made to the original bid). If I had known they would charge this increased amount, I would have gone with a bid from another flooring company.

BEWARE! I hired Utah Flooring and Design/Utah Floor Coverings for a remodel of our new house. I contacted 3 companies for bids and dates. This company beat the others by only a minor amount but the rep was extremely nice on the phone. I told him the flooring HAD to be completed by August 14th and NO LATER due to movers coming on Aug 18th and they had to be in for the furniture. I called the rep the day before the flooring was to be installed. He said it was a go. Three hours later, the owner, Jason called me and said he had bad news. The flooring had not even been shipped and was not sure of the exact date as to when it would be in. I told him the Moving Company would have to hold the main floor furniture and sent an email 4 days prior to the move with a breakdown of the cost to the moving company. They paid the moving company in full for storing my furniture and turned around and charged me $592.00 out of my Visa that they did not feel they wanted to really pay the Moving company. We are currently having to dispute this charge with our Visa that they will give us back. Jason the owner has a very foul mouth and said I had better pay the GD bill. He was horrible. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! CHECK OUT THE BBB! They have 27 complaints against them. WHY, would you even suggest using this company? CHECK THEM OUT!

Great work. Communication could be better. They had to cancel the appointment to start the work after all of our furniture was moved out of our bedrooms and we had moved to a hotel and booked our dogs into a kennel. So we had to stay away for two extra days. Read the fine print in the contract!
