Utah Flooring & Design

The tile looked great. They asked me to purchase the grout myself. So when I bought the grout the store suggested unsanded grout but sanded grout would have been better so the wrong grout affected the overall appearance of the job. I wish the install team would have let me know that it would look better with sanded grout before they finished the job rather than after they were done and I questioned the final look.

This company has a lot of flashy marketing and they were very fast to respond to the bid request and sales inquiries but when it came to doing the work they were terrible. Bad communication, different workers in each day, unjustified changes to the schedule and scope of work, and ultimately they backed out of the job but charged our credit card (which they had from the required deposit payment) even though they did not show up to do the work. We had to fight to get the money back and then find another contractor after they wasted a month of our time.

4/24/21 so far my tile project has been a disaster. Huge lack of management! They were supposed to start a week ago. It was supposed to be a two day job. They subbed out to tile installers. They did not get the installers the materials & there is no management of this process. I expect better. I have had no one from Utah Flooring fix this mess. I will continue to update this review. 4/26 delivered tile bad news it did not match still waiting for tile.

They process was painless and timely

I didnâ t have a large project but it had a lot of different angles and they did a great job keeping the waste down to a minimum. I would definitely recommend using these guys for your tile job.

I believe their standard should be three coats instead of two.

Free estimate, amazingly friendly and respectful staff, and the installation was perfect! I love my new floor!!!

Editing my review after speaking with the owner, Jason. Jason offered to make it right. The project had lots of problems due to an ex employee, but once Pedro and his team were sent in he saved the day and the floors turned out beautiful.

Easy to work with. Good value for the price. Friendly and professional service.

FINAL UPDATE 03/05/2021: My chief complaint throughout this review has been with the customer service experience after the installation, and my original rating was reflective of that experience. Since getting my issue resolved, I was contacted by the management of Utah Flooring and design and we have spoken at length and they have readily acknowledged that the **ball was dropped** and have offered assurance that they will work to identify what happened so that it does not happen again. This is also customer service and while it does not undo the original bad experience, it does offer levity which I have considered in changing my rating. I have used this company to install flooring twice, and both times the installation has been done very well, so the company does employ good installers. Just make sure you work out any discrepancies or problems before charges are made. ---------- UPDATE 03/03/2021 I am following up on my previous review. The company did finally issue a refund. But not from me calling and emailing for more than 3 weeks, rather they issued the refund because I posted negative reviews. Then they called me and asked what *arrangements* could be made that I might retract my negative review. I did not post the review out of maliciousness, I posted it because it was a factual account of my experience with Utah Flooring and Design. I believe that potential customers should be able to read reviews and have the confidence that they are getting a true representation of a company and not a watered-down version because negative reviews are retracted. If Utah Flooring and Design does not want to get negative reviews, then they need to correct the business practices that lead to them getting negative reviews. ------------- The guy who did my flooring install was great - but his work is not a reflection of **Utah Flooring and Design**. This company has been such a disappointment. For starters, they are ripping off someone, either the installer or the customer (probably both). There was a dispute over what was to be included in my install so the installer showed me his work order. Items I was being charged for were not on his work order, and the square footage was also different, my invoice had 1050 sq ft, but the work order of the installers only had 915 sq ft. The next thing they did was to charge my credit card for the remaining balance before they were even done with the work. This really ticked me off because if they had waited, then we could have made the necessary adjustments to the final invoice before it was charged. But now I am three weeks into trying to get a refund and all I get is a runaround. I was charged for **floor prep** - when I asked what this was, they said it was for floor leveling and for filling in cracks. I do not have concrete floors, it has a wooden subfloor, so no leveling was needed and there are no cracks to fill - they said I would not be charged if they did not do it. Well, that was BS because as I said, they charged my card without verifying that the job was done and/or going over the items to make any necessary adjustments. I would not use this company again if they were the ONLY company.

Very well done reinstalling a hallway carpet after a flooding incident.

The floor contractor they sent out was amazing. Very focused on task and outcome was everything I expected.

Sub-contractor and demo guys were good at their jobs.

Did good quality work, but the project too way longer and there was no coordination or property management of the project.

Job not done yet... only tear-out. But so far they have been great to work with.

They kept the dust to a minimum. Very courteous. Did have to wait for them to show up. Was late to get started. But. Made up the lost time.

Great product and service

The work was a very small project to remove and replace two exterior porch tiles. The work started on time and was eventually completed well. Multiple times for the work to be done were scheduled, canceled and rescheduled over a period of several days. The company was good to notify of the schedule changes but they were frustrating.

I had flooring installed in my basement and to say it is a terrible job and product would be an understatement. There are more issues than I have time to state but I have included a summary below: (1) In several areas of my home basement they did not extend the carpet to the wall (i.e. the basement concrete is showing near my baseboard, they did not bother extending the carpet in several areas to cover the floor). (2) in places where they had made a mistake with the carpet cuts near my walls/baseboards, they simply cut out a small piece of carpet and laid it down, hoping that I would not notice. (3) seems are significant in some places (up to an inch), honestly looks like they had people install that have never installed carpet (not an exaggeration). (4) I had them install some basic trim where my laminate was laid, because I already had my baseboards installed and the cuts look like they were made by someone who was never worked use a saw before). Again, this is not an exaggeration, I have pictures that would make it look like they were trying to do this as a joke/prank. Please ask for my pictures and give me the ability to upload, you will BE SHOCKED. (5) the tack strips were laid 4+ inches from my wall in some places, I've never seen anything like this. (6) they have stood me up/no showed for several things over the last couple of weeks (sending out someone to check the work, someone came out and disagreed with me until they finally realized they could not defend the work and they said they would be back in 2 days and they never returned, they no showed for an install, etc.). (7) they have made random charges on my card with no explanation. I emailed for a resolution and got responses that they would let me know in a future email what the charges were for... still have not heard back. (8) the flooring is defective in multiple areas (9) there were several cracks in the Laminate (10) there are bubbles in the carpet, in one spot I can fill something underneath the bubble (feels like they left a towel). (11) in one area they did not even use a tack strip, they just laid down carpet There are a few more as well, but you get the idea. If you were to see my flooring you would be shocked. This is not only a poor job for a flooring company, I would consider this a poor job if I had installed it myself (and I have no idea what I am doing). This company is beyond a joke to work with, they clearly don't stand behind their work or product and they will no show you (even after texting you telling you they would be there in 30 minutes). This type of business should not be allowed. I have disputed the entire charge with my credit card company.

They returned calls and showed up for the job at the time that was scheduled. Friendly and great price.
