My dishwasher wasn’t heating and cleaning properly, so I called Famous Appliance Service. They sent a young repairman out (Garrison) he said he repaired it, he left, I did some dishes-still didn’t clean—he came out again “repaired” it! But I washed dishes again, still didn’t clean— I called again, he came out to “fix” the heating element by installing a new heating element and charged over 4 hundred dollars! We trusted that he knew what he was doing being a “professional “!! Well, being very patient, and thinking I’m just too critical!! Well, I’m tired of being “patient “ and so I think I’ll call another repair company this time!! This is not acceptable!!! It still doesn’t heat, clean and wet top dishes!! Very frustrating!!!
Description of Work: To have my dishwasher act like a real dishwasher and clean, heat(sanitizer) , and dry like it’s suppose to!!!! I even use Cascade like I’m supposed to!!🤔🤨 I can’t keep going like this, I’m tired of after the dishwasher is “done”, I have to hand wash the dishes it didn’t clean- which is more a couple-And I do load them right!!

My Sub Zero freezer was not freezing properly and I called Famous Appliance Service to come look at it. I initially did not find them through Angie's List and the only reason I called them was because I had used them seven years ago to fix my fridge (which took three different repairman to finally fix the problem). I though that maybe since they were familiar with my appliance, they would have an easier time diagnosing my problem. The technician came out and I had requested the same one from last time. He got out his equipment and proceeded to diagnose my problem. After about 20 minutes he told me that I needed a new compressor and the total would be around $1030. I was shocked that it was so much and he told me that they only use the best compressors. I told him that I wanted to think about it , and said I'd call them the next day. I then got on Angie's List and started making calls. One highly rated company quoted me around $600 for a new compressor (the same compressor that was quoted at $1000). Another one of my calls was to Beehive Appliance and the owner suggested that maybe he could save me some money and we try and trouble shoot over the phone first before sending someone out. He suggested that I turn off the freezer for 24 hours and then turn it back on for 24 hours. He also had me open the top grill panal and dust off the coils. All very easy to do myself and I was shocked when the next day my freezer was up and running again, good as new! I am so glad that I did not spend $1000 on a new compressor and was very disappointed that Famous Appliance Service would not suggest or even try these simple fixes.
Description of Work: Came out to diagnose why my Sub Zero freezer wasn't freezing properly. He quoted me over $1000 to fix it.

I am living in NM and I called Famous Appliance (Midvale, SLC) to have them check out a microwave and a fireplace in my home in Roy, UT. I told them that there were two fireplaces in the home and the one that was broken was in the formal livingroom, it would not turn off at the switch. I told her the story of what happened to it and that we had to turn off the gas to shut it off. The repair man came out and quoted $450. to replace the transformer in the microwave, I opted to replace the microwave for $220 at Home Depot. My issue is the fireplace, he turned on the gas, and lit the pilot light, and turned the knob on the broken fireplace, never touched the switch and said, "There's nothing wrong with this one." he proceeded to the Familyroom, even though the Realtor told him that I told her it was the one in The Formal Living room that was broken, he spent 45 minutes taking apart the fireplace that worked. He didn't even know to flip the switches on the wall, next to the fireplace. He then quoted $550 to replace the gas valve. I called Comfort Solutions in Layton (they installed the fireplace under Uintah), they quoted me $350 to replace the gas valve. Before I had the repair done, I questioned my Realtor (the person that was at the house with the repairman) and realize that Neil looked at the WRONG fireplace. My Realtor called Famous Appliance and told them he quoted $550 to repair a fireplace that wasn't broken. They told her that the guy that usually works on fireplaces wasn't available the day that Neil came out, but they could send him out the next day. I opted to not have them back in my home. I sent the following message Famous Appliance. "Anne is aware of this issue: I am out of state, living in NM so I was not in the home when the repairman came out. You sent out a repair to look at my microwave and a fireplace that wouldn't turn off at the switch. Neil came out and quoted $450 to fix a microwave (transformer needed to be replaced) and I opted to replace it for much less. My concern is that you sent out a repairman that didn't know anything about fireplaces and he quoted $550 to repair the fireplace that wasn't broken. He didn't know to flip the switch on the wall. I called the company that put it in and they quoted me $350 to fix the same problem, $149 for the part and $200 for the labor. On a fluke, I questioned the person that was at the houseand realize that Neil looked at the WRONG fireplace. I had to have somebody else (Comfort Solutions) come out and look at the fireplace, because now I don't want you doing it (per Anne the FP repairman was not available when Neil came out). It cost me $89 plus tax for the service call and it was fixed on the spot. The problem was a short in the wiring, no additional charges. At this time I am requesting that you refund the money for my service call, I realize that he did look at the microwave, but I feel that in light of the trouble and time I had to spend on this to get the right fireplace looked at and the extra that I spent, the least you can do is refund my money." Their Response: "Hello, Lydia. We do regret the problems that this may have caused. We charge $40 for the initial call and $10 for the additional appliance. I can refund you $10.69 which includes the tax, for the fireplace diagnosis. I’m glad you were able to find someone to repair it to your satisfaction. You can call and let us know the information on the credit card you want the refund going to. Sincerely, Anne @ Famous Appliance" My reply was "No, thank you. I will leave a review on City Search and Angie's List." 6/25/2012 - This morning I got a call from the manager. She had read my email and talked to the owner, they are now refunding my $53.43. Thank You.

Over charged at least 100%. It was a rip off. I am really ticked off.
Description of Work: Replaced oven igniter and pointed to the problem area. He tested the (not the little mechanical, not the electronic) part from his truck, installed it and was gone in 45 minutes.
