Mr Mathews was hired to replace some electrical outlets. The only upgrade was that they were new and more in style. He said he could replace them in about 10 minutes each. He came, spent a lot of time chatting and took over an hour to replace 2. With 30+ outlets, that is expensive! I had him pick up and plant a tree. He charged 2 hours work to pick it up, although it took under an hour. Planting was slipshod. The tree was in crocked and he left all the dirt on the grass. His main concern was when I would pay him. He is personable, but not a great worker. After 3 short days with little accomplished, I let him go.

Jerry was really great and professional. He came, looked at the sink (which a plumber had installed incorrectly and had been out twice to fix unsuccessfully) evaluated the problem quickly and went to the store to get the required materials. He came back fast and got right to work. He fixed all of the issues with the sink (crooked, not anchored properly in wall, pipes not connected correctly, leaking, not attached to pedestal) and was very meticulous and detail oriented. He even came with his own little handy-vac that he used to tidy up his mess from where he drilled the holes to mount the sink. He cleaned/removed the caulking from the earlier attempt that was really ugly and re-caulked it perfectly! He also noticed that my toilet was running on forever and wasn't flushing properly and he fixed it in the blink of an eye while he was doing the other work in the bathroom. He took his time to do everything right, but I didn't feel like he was "taking his time" and he definitely had some hustle which is nice when you are paying someone by the hour. He told me that he has over 13 years experience as a "facilities specialist" which definitely shows because I asked him about a few other projects (electrical and some light construction/carpentry) and he gave me very specific and knowledgeable answers about what was required, the scope of the job and about how long it would take. He said that he will also negotiate a "flat rate" for a project if you don't like paying hourly. Jerry is a perfectionist who really takes pride in his work and his rates are very reasonable. I will definitely hire him again!
