I paint very realistic murals of the night sky, like you would see from a very remote location here on earth. I say, "here on earth" because there are some artists who paint large planets and space ships, while I focus on creating a realistic looking mural that makes you say, "Wow!"... and is fun to relax under. I am the founder of Night Sky Murals and I am the only painter in my company. If someone wants to learn to do this business, I will train them, but they don't work under the Night Sky Murals name (I have worked too hard to create a business with a good reputation to let others use the name).
Customers always tell me that the real murals that I paint are much better than the pictures that I have on my site... because, in the pictures, you can't see many of the stars that are in the mural, and you can't get the 3D effect from a picture. I am also told often that the stars even twinkle like the real night sky.
The murals that I paint are not visible in the light, when the mural is painted on a lighter colored ceiling. And, even when I paint on black ceilings... about 99% of the stars are still invisible. usually only the constellation stars are the only visible stars are a black ceiling and most of my customers have liked that.
I paint from coast to coast and have painted in Canada too. I am usually traveling somewhere to paint. I will travel anywhere a customer would like me to paint. The way that I work travel is to try and set up a few jobs in an area first, then I pay for the travel charges. If the customer can't wait for me to set up other jobs, and they don't mind paying the travel expenses... then I will fly out whenever is convenient for them.
I started out years ago, before starting as an "official business" by painting kids rooms mainly. Then, as the murals got better and better, people started having me paint in the master bedroom as well. Today, the three most popular rooms for my murals are in the Master Bedroom, Home Theater room and then Kids rooms. A room that is starting to become more popular is a "Relaxation Room".
I am proud to have been featured in some great national media outlets. Some of them include the Robb Report's "Luxury Homes" magazine, Affluent magazine, Unique Homes magazine, on HGTV and the Fine Living networks... and even in the Angie's List magazine. More recently I found that I was included in a Family Circle article.
I do not use sub-contractors to paint my night sky murals. I will however, find a local artist to paint a mural on a ceiling first, before I come in and paint. My murals are great on top of another mural that is visible in the light... such as a mural of a blue sky with clouds. I don't hire them myself, but I try to find a few good, local artists (local to the customer) who I think will do a good job and then I give that information to the customer. I let them work that out with that artist. I do it more as a way to help the customer out and I don't receive any compensation from anyone else.
