Rock Solid Roofing

Description of Work: I hired a General Contractor to do the remodel of my house. When the project got to the roof. my contractor had hired Rock Solid Roofing to do the work since he worked with this company all the time, I never met anyone from Rock Solid Roofing but they started working on the roof up to having the tar paper placed on it. That night a neighbor from down the street that I had never met came by & said whomever is doing your roof is doing a very poor job from what I can see from just looking up from the street. She said that the tar paper was not nailed down in certain locations , the drip edge was upside down , the wrong kind of nails were being used & part of your roof is not covered. Alarmed I contacted my contractor & told him what my neighber had said . The neighbor happened to work for a reputable roofing company who inspected roofing jobs for the state of Utah & ran into problems like this all the time. . Roofers getting hired & paid for their crappy work & not caring about the homeowners just collecting a pay check.... Anyway she said she would go up on my roof as a favor to me & check everything out so that I could tell the roofer what was wrong (what ?? tell a roofer what they are doing wrong??? that does not make sense??) Shouldn't they be the professional & know what needs to be done??? I agreed & said yes please go up on the roof & let me know & that is when she noticed that the new addition of the roof was a 1/2 higher then the existing roof plus numerous other problems. When I questioned my contractor about this huge cosmetic issue to the roof he said yes it was higher (which was not brought to my attention until it was discovered by the neighbor ) but he said we have a solution. I asked what his solution was & how it was going to be corrected & he said they were going to add more shingles to the existing roof so in other words pile the shingles on top of eachother in the location where the roofs met . I was told by my neighbor that this is not the correct way to do this & if it was going to be done the that way done that way then I was going to have problems with my roof later on when it rained or snowed due to water damage not to mention how hideous this would look . I told my contractor that I did not want to use this roofing company since I was worried that it would not be done correctly & for the poor job done already & that is should have been done right the first time. My contractor wanted me to meet with the owner of the roofing company Rock Solid Roofing which I agreed to do so the next day . I met the owner of this roofing company & I told him everything that was pointed out to me t& hat was done incorrectly. I also explained to him the issue with the roof being an inch higher & that the solution that he & my contractor had was not the correct solution according to my neighbor. He proceeded to tell me that he had told my contractor that in order to fix this problem correctly they would need to take the existing shingles off of my existing roof & put board down so that it was flush with the new addition & then shingle the entire roof . Well that is exactly what my neighbor had said needed to be done (imagine that! ) Doing it the correct way would be quite a bit more money but I wouldn't have problems with my roof in the future. The owner of the roofing company said that my contractor told him not to it the correct way & to roof it the incorrect way......WHAT!!!! . So this roofing company was going to do a job wrong knowing that I was going to have huge problems down the road! . My problem with this roofing company is that if you know that the job your doing is wrong & that someone who has hired you as a professional & is also trusting you with your work & is also paying you a huge sum of money to do a job well done , WHY would you not do your job correctly ? Needless to say the roofer & my contractor were fired . & in my opinion this company is dishonest & I would never ever hire them . ... so Please Beware...............
