basement waterproofing, drain pipe

I have been dealing with a flooding basement for nearly 3 years since I purchased my rental property (originally it was bank owned with no disclosures!) We had tried everything! First we checked the gutters and had black corrugated pipes installed on the down spouts to lead any rain water away from the house. Helpful (and recommended) but did not resolve the flooding issue in the basement- where water was coming up through the concrete. I contacted Floodex Property Solutions who I had previously used for dry-outs. They introduced to me what is called an Interior French Drain System. John was very knowledgeable about water damage issues and explained to me where the water was coming from, why and exactly how this system worked. We had a new catch basin installed to a second sump pump and a french drain system installed along two walls in our basement (where the leaking usually comes in). Within a weeks time, everything was back to normal. John worked well with my tenants, kept the work area as clean as possible and communicated well with me each day. My tenants didn't complain. I really appreciate the work and effort that went into resolving this issue and feel confident I won't have future flooding issues. (The total I paid to waterproof this basement was $6777.43).
Description of Work: Installed French Drain System into the basement of one of my rental properties.

I haven't used them. I talked to them about some stuff as I was thinking about doing some work. Although we really never scheduled the work, they are really knowledgeable. The estimate was reasonable. I just didn’t decide to do the work at the time. It was really nice that they gave me an estimate and didn’t oversell it. They told me about more economical interim things I could do. With regard to quality consultative sales, they did a fabulous job. They actually came out and took a look. I don’t even know that they came up with a price. I don’t know that we actually got to the point of talking price. We never talked specifically about it, because they came up with some interim solutions and didn’t charge me for it. I remember noting that if I ever had the work done, I would have them do it. They put what was going on in my house in perspective for me, which was really nice. Of all the people I know and have talked to, they were the most knowledgeable. Their 3:46.5 was good. All of their presentation was really quality, knowledgeable and experienced. They were really good. The advice they gave me was very detailed and very knowledgeable. They provided immediate responsiveness. I would absolutely use them in the future.
Description of Work: Floodex Property Solutions, Inc gave me an estimate. They came out for mold testing and remediation.

John is great. I'd highly recommend him again and use him again. He worked to help us save money without cutting corners. Unlike any of our other bidders, he included all the costs for things like third-party asbestos testing. (We have an old house.) He even did some remodeling on our bathroom in addition to his disaster cleanup work -- without charging extra. The only (mild) drawback was he's so good at his job that he's pretty popular. It took a while for him to get to our job. He's definitely well worth the wait though.
Description of Work: repaired a front bathroom, replacing and spraying walls and floor where mildew was present. Painted walls and installed new vinyl on floor. Also installed new toilet and vanity.

The entire job from start to finish was terrific. John worked as disruptly as possible, and there were times I forgot he was here! At all times, he was a complete gentleman and treated me with great respect. It's a hard combination to find those qualities these days, and if I ever again need the services John provides, I won't hesitate to call him at once.
Description of Work: When I came to the question earlier on this form as to whether or not I would hire John again, I wish I had been able to write more, such as, I wouldn't even consider hiring any other contractor to do the work that John did. When the ceiling fell through, I was sure that it would leave telltale signs after it was repaired. Not only did an area about 4 sq.ft. fall from the ceiling into the bedroom, along with water, drywall and insulation, but also the upper part of the wall next to the ceiling. John came out immediately after my call and checked the damaged area very carefully, and also went through the entire house to check for further water damage, using a specialized infrared water meter to be sure nothing was missed. After he gave me a very reasonable quote for the repair, he started working. Me, being a female, decided when the job was nearly complete, that I wanted the room painted as well. John was very accommodating and even took it upon himself to not only make the trips to buy the paint but that it very closely was a perfect match to the color swatches I made on my computer for him. By the time he had prepped the room for painting, I knew that I was interfering with other work John had, but he never let me feel that my job was interfering with other work he had scheduled, or any less important than his other projects.. He called me every day to let me know what time he expected to be here, as well as keeping me informed at all times which areas he would be working on. I've had my share of unpleasant experiences with contractors I've hired, which made me skeptical about having work done by someone unknown to me. After my amazing experience with John, my faith is restored. I know there must be other contractors out there that have the same work ethic and talent that John clearly possesses, but I've never found one. Two things stand out in my mind today. One is that I'm so happy I joined Angie's List, where I met John and for that reason, my membership is worth its weight in gold. The second thing is that thanks to John, the bedroom looks about a hundred times better than it did before the water came crashing through. I absolutely can't say enough about John except that my disaster turned out to be a blessing in that I now have a better and more solid bedroom than I did before!

I like FLOODEX because it's a family owned operation. They seemed very personable and were quick to respond. They came after business hours and were happy to be there. I really liked their company. They also seemed very honest and didn't overcharge for the job.
Description of Work: My basement flooded and they saved my carpet by pulling it back and placing air movers inside and dried it out for me.

The work went well, and they managed to keep one bathroom open all the time which was great. With the new paint and tile, it looks like we have two new bathrooms at little extra cost. They gave us a timeline and estimate and came in under on both. It was a stressful time once we discovered the plumbing leak and the mold, but once John showed up and gave us the skinny on the work that was to be done, the mold problem remediation procedures, and how they would attack the problem was comforting. The work was done very well and the crew was very respectful of our home.
Description of Work: We had a plumbing leak that had been running for a week or so before we figured it out. As a result, we had some water damage and some mold. After the plumber fixed the leak and noticed the mold, he immediately suggested Floodex DKI and said they could be here within the hour. I called them and they were there in short order, the CEO John, showed up and surveyed the damage. He put together an estimate and got it in right away to me and the insurance company. After getting the check from the insurance company, I called John back and arranged for the work be started. John and his son showed up to get things going. John put his son in charge, who was very capable and did good work. They had to take care of the mold, replace drywall, paint and redo the floors. We decided to put down tile instead of the old linoleum and they were happy to do that for us.

The bathtub drain was leaking and repaired a plumber. There was raw sewage in the crawl space of a small rambler. It got there via a failed bathtub drain. The odor was intolerable. That was the verdict of John Deitz of Floodex DKI. I think the waste from the toilets flowed out through the damage tub drain. I had several suggestions cleanup. None were correct. I tried spraying a bleach solution but that didn't work. The other bad idea was to apply lime which is caustic and dangerous especially in a crawl space. I searched the internet and made telephone calls and finally a crawl space insulation company recommended Floodex which was the answer but almost a month was wasted. After I scheduled Floodex I called called my insurance carrier to see if the damage was covered. It was! I should have called them at the very outset. The claims agent had several suggestions for contractors including Floodex. I learned a lot in the last month! Here is what I should have done: 1. Call the insurance company first. The claims agent would tell me if the problem is insured, deductible information, and contractor information. 2. If it is covered the claims agent will make the necessary arrangements (calls, appointments, etc.) with the contractor and the tenant right away. All I would have to do is stand aside and wait for the bill. 3. If it is not covered by the rental insurance policy, which isn't likely, the claims agent has enough experience with this problem that he can provide a few contractor names and save a lot of research time. I strongly recommend Floodex. Floodex responded quickly, dealt with the claims agent who gave verbal approval and the job was done in one visit in about four hours. I will call them again if I need similar work in a crawl space.
Description of Work: There was raw sewage in the crawl space as a result of a failed bath tub drain. The drain was replaced by a plumber. Floodex did the clean up work. They removed the vapor barrier and the sewerage sludge and hauled it to the dump. They applied a "plant based anti microbial agent" (enzyne solution). They replaced the vapor barrier. They also fixed a heating pipe and replaced some heating pipe insulation, not their normal job. This was nasty, smelly work in a very tight crawl space and they accepted the work with enthusism. They did the little extra work that they recognized was needed. I would call them first if I have any water damage or crawl space odor problems again.
