Worst 3 months of my life trying to get a basic interior painting done in my house. The owner Cameron is a grifter. Don't walk, run away from this poor excuse of a business

I hired Emerald Pro Painting of Northern Utah to stain cabinets from light oak to cherry wood. The owner, Cameron Beckham, said his crew would be able to accomplish this without a problem. Starting Monday August 6th, we chose the exact color with painter and he said it was a standard, easy to do color (cherry wood). The staining started 2nd day, into 3rd day; the painter said he was given the wrong stains, mixtures, etc. He blamed the owner, Cameron, for delivering the wrong supplies. He showed me a completed cabinet door and laughed because it was bright orange. We waited another day for "correct" supplies to arrive. He then started again on Thursday and we had to spend the day and night in a hotel, as planned, Cameron came to check on the job and ended up running out of the house due to the fumes. He also fell into the rack holding newly stained doors and they all fell onto the garage floor, cracking at least one in half. Friday, we came home and saw our cabinets for the final walk through after the crew had left. In total shock/crying I called Cameron (owner of Emerald Pro) and said it was the most horrible, un-matched, different colors, large dark strips both horizontal and vertical. He showed up the next day with the painter and agreed that it was totally unacceptable and work gone wrong. That’s when Cameron spoke privately with the painter, came back in and told both my husband and I that the wrong stain and airbrush were used. He gave us 2 options, Opt 1: Re-strip and start over, but said this was a 50/50 risk as wood may be totally ruined and new cabinets would be needed. Opt 2: Stain again and try to match up all miss matched doors, sides, corners, drawers but it would be much darker than cherry wood and still not sure it would look good. We chose option 2 and agreed on a mahogany color. Cameron told us he would write off cost including labor and supplies and there would be no cost to us due to not doing the job right, using the wrong equipment and our stress. Saturday Aug 11th we never heard from them and they didn't show up as promised. We waited until Sunday afternoon, called Cameron (owner) 5-6 times no answer, no voicemail. Finally contacted the painter and stated they had miscommunication and promised to be to my house at 9 Monday August 13th with full crew. Monday they were a no show again. Called Cameron again and was very upset, he stated his painter got his customers names confused, thought he was talking to someone else. I got angry and Cameron's painter in the background kept yelling at him to hang up on me. I told him to ignore his ignorant painter but Cameron hung up anyway, no resolve. I have all correspondence with painter in texts. Cameron texted later that day and asked if we could meet and work problem out. I agreed and he came to house. We discussed situation at length and he said the painter who ruined our cabinets refused to work with us anymore. I told him that I wouldn't want him in my house anyway; he was rude, condescending and not taking any responsibility. Cameron stated he would have a new painter out that was better with cabinets and would give us total attention and start on the 23rd of August. He asked how much I was willing to pay him and I said maybe $500 towards supplies if I felt it was a great job. I reminded him that I was still leaning towards not paying as he had promised me that it would be free. He tried saying that he never said that and then finally remembered he did. I have proof he said this. The new painter showed up 4 hours late, remarked that the previous painter did not use right technique or equipment. He the sprayed some gloss on a couple of the doors and took 5 home with him and left within an hour. Showed up the next day with 4 of my doors painted dark brown, cracked, chipped, smeared and put them on our brand new granite counter tops without protection. I stated they looked worse and he asked if I planned on paying. I said no after seeing these doors. He walked out without letting me know, plus doors still on counter top and one still missing. I texted him and asked if he was coming back, he apologized and said he had an apt and we would be good. Then said his phone wasn't working right. 30 minutes later he texted back that he wouldn't be back unless I agreed to make a payment to Cameron. I have all texts. I sent two registered/certified letters to Cameron on September 5th, one to his home and one to his business stating that I wanted a letter or a receipt that we are paid in full as his company just walked out on me, kept my door and made no attempts to fix the situation as promised. He signed for one letter that I sent to his home but not the other and no response as of today 10/04/18. This has been a nightmare, my kitchen especially and my 2 bathrooms are in shambles, I have talked to other companies and after seeing the colors they say my only real options are to paint cabinets, possibly black ugh, or replace all the cabinets destroyed at a cost of approx $18,000-$22,000. All of this from a job that was going to be $3200 because we could not afford to replace cabinets in the first place. Please protect yourself from this company, false promises and horrible, incomplete results.
