Our experience with AMK builders was difficult to say the least. They had negotiated a price slightly down from the original bid on the basis that we paid cash instead of a bank draw, with the mutual understanding that we would pay in 1/3 increments; 1/3 at 33% of the work completion, 1/3 at the 66% completion, and final payment at 4-way inspection pass. First issue: Incompetent: Did not build to permit plans. Used outdated plans, caused significant cost and delays due to having to re-engineer. 2nd issue: Significant delays due to failure to order long lead items, leaving us without a roof in the worst winter on record. 3rd issue: Unreliable: AMK builders repeatedly did no-shows without contacting us or the GC to let us know they had made other work plans. Final issue: Dishonest: After working with the General Contractor to coerce us into advancing them payment, AMK builders took the money and walked off the job. The owner of this business is utterly dishonest. Stay away.
