He was here every day for a week. I found his business card at a company where they have contractors business cards backed up. They did a nice job. I ended up seeking 3beards before I made the decision to choose Alec and it was the best decision. All of the prices were pretty close but in working with the bidding process it really showed Alec's personality over and above everybody else. Just working with his personality and what he had ideas on as well as the price I thought he was the best to choose and I was right. He did an excellent job. His workers worked hard, diligently and he knew what he was doing even if he wasn't here to direct them. It was a very good decision. It took them about six days to do the job. They do rock walls, waterfalls, sprinklers and all kinds of things. He was wonderful. I have a very large backyard and in that backyard there were two giant sized flower beds. I'm an older person and the last thing I can deal with is huge big flower beds that get weeds in them and grass loves to take over. Big parts of those flower beds had turned into weeds and grass so they came in and dug out all of that on both of the big flower beds, put in the fabric, bark and smaller gravels. It's beautiful. In one area they took out the old sprinkler system and put in the drip irrigation system for all of my flowers that were out there. I have lots of big gaint rocks in my yard that were used for landscaping and he dug out one whole area because my yard is on a slope, used some of those big rocks to shore up the area where it was dug out. I have a very wonderful fire pit area that is surrounded by flowers and rock and it’s a beautiful fire pit area. They had like a bobcat to pick up those big rocks and move them around. He did both of the big flower beds and all of the landscaping back there. It was immense and I'm still happy. I called to ask him in the very beginning to look at my yard and a bid and he was here the day after I called. Alec was easy to work with and he was punctual. When he said he'd do something at a certain time, he did it. Personally I don't think I could have chosen a better landscaper. He's a young man and has got good employees. I really think a lot of him. This was the first time I've used him but it won't be the last.
Description of Work: I used Naylorscapes to do major landscaping of my backyard.

Met to discuss job and get a bid. Vague bid saying he would give a discount on labor of $4.00 per hour if we paid cash (that should have been a warning). Said the job was time and material and needed upfront money for materials. We asked right away for an accounting of the upfront material costs. That never happened with plenty of excuses. The first day, before work started, we increased the scope of work asking if he could complete the work. He agreed. We had already given him a check for materials. Right away he asked for quite a bit more. He bragged that time and material would save us $$. He bragged he was only one of 35 licensed contractors in town. We checked later and could not find a license number. He said he had 3 guys but only one of the days did he have 2 other guys. Apparently they were quitting right and left. In a 5 day period the crew changed 4 times, which was quite unnerving since we don't know these people and it was uncomfortable. Never knew when they would show up or leave. Bragged he worked 4 day, 10 hour days. That never happened at our location. If he left to another location we didn't know, but there was plenty to do for us. Promised to work and then would call with excuses. Flat tire on his trailer, his wife wouldn't let him work - she was the boss. We had no problems with the hours he charged. That portion was correct but were astounded by the cost of materials. It was apparent there were mistakes. When we called around for pricing on materials we discovered he was adding between 30% to 112%. We met to discuss and find a resolution. He whined and actually told us he increases the cost of materials from between 30 and 50%! We felt this was exorbitant and said so. One of the excuses is that he has a family to feed. Really, like the rest of us don't eat! We liked the job he did. It looks very good and we have no complaints about that. Warning. Nail him down on costs if you should venture forth and hire him. We never did get receipts of material costs. We recognize there are overhead costs, just felt he was high. We resolved with a minor discount. Would not use again.
Description of Work: Had an aging railroad tie berm wall moved back 2 - 3 feet, ties removed, new added. Sprinkler line of about 15 feet replaced, drip line provided. Removed the extra dirt and added gravel.
