Small family firm. Honest and competent. When we ran into construction difficulties from the original builder's construction, they were creative and were able to overcome them. Detail work needed slight revisiting, but, overall, they did a fine job. We are planning to use them again.

In truth, Angie's list sold a service that Pendleton Construction did not provide. The owner was kind on the phone and offered to try to help me but was very busy with projects at the time I purchased the deal. I essentially lost the $50 because, as he explained, the money went to Angie's list and not him for the referral.

They told me what they thought would work in the kitchen and I gave them some ideas as to what I wanted. They sent me an email of the design they came up with. They even called me to find out what I thought. I have some things going on right now that I haven't given the design much thought as there are more important things I need to take care of. The two men were very friendly, professional and caring people.

They were fast to respond to my inquiry, and were pretty professional during the appointment. However it took some and some chasing on my end to get the layouts for the kitchen. I did not go with Pendleton for my kitchen remodel in the end due to budget constrains.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal on Angie's List for the "Custom Kitchen Design With Measurements" with Pendleton Construction.
The kitchen looks great, but there were a few bumps along the way. The floor was torn up when the appliances were moved into place. The floor was repaired, but you can see where the repairs were made--making it look less new. During the tear out they found the cement floor was in need of fixing. This work was done without consulting me ahead of time as to the cost of it. It probably would have needed to be done anyway, but I would have appreciated being told. There was some disorganization in the timing of everything. For instance, I picked out backsplash tiles almost a month before they needed to install them. I told them I'd decided what I wanted, but they didn't ask for the information until almost a month later when they were ready to do the backsplash. By that time, my original choice was out of stock. I had to go back to the tile store and choose a second choice and have them order the tiles, then we had to wait for them. Then it turned out that not enough of the tiles were ordered (I'm still not sure if this was the fault of the tile company or Pendleton). This caused a big delay. This project was supposed to take a little more than a month and went for at least two months. The guys kept getting called off to do other jobs (one was at the airport). Bob did try to get the kitchen back into working order with at least appliances and a sink as soon as he could, but everything else took longer than planned. As far as pricing goes, I was given a bid and paid them in 3 parts. I knew as we went along extra things were added in by me: a fancier faucet, a couple of specialized cabinets, and a pretty intricate backsplash pattern. I was told this would be added in at the end with the last payment. I was ready for that. What I was not ready for was a surcharge of 10 or 15 percent so he could make a profit when other contractors had to be called in. Had I been aware of that from the beginning, I might have been a little more judicious in the extras I chose to add in. Overall, I'm very happy with the look of my kitchen and functionality. I love the cabinets, sink and the backsplash. I wish the floor hadn't been torn up, but I can live with the repair. The work done seems to be top quality and I haven't had any problems with anything since they finished. I wish they had been more organized, which would have helped with some of the delays, and I wish I had known about that surcharge ahead of time. If I hired them again, I would make sure they weren't so busy they couldn't get my stuff done in the time planned and I'd be aware of that surcharge, so would be more careful with the add ons.
Description of Work: My kitchen was demolished and remodeled. They removed the old cabinets, appliances and flooring. They installed a vinyl floor, cabinets, counters, backsplash, sink, and appliances which I purchased separately.

I found this to be very amateurish. I thought I would get kitchen design plans for a service normally valued between $250-$500. The photograph associated with this deal also looked very professional so I purchased it. What I got back was a sheet of paper with a hand sketched design.

Pendleton Construction and their subcontractor were very professional and easy to work with on this kitchen remodel estimate. I didn't realize that the $50 paid for this estimate was not passed on to Pendleton and that they give this type of estimate to potential clients for free. I still had a lot of fun putting together my dream kitchen for only $50. The kitchen remodel estimate was reasonable and if I could get the money together, I'd go with Pendleton Construction.
Description of Work: Pendleton Construction and cabinet subcontractor came to my home and took detailed measurements. I later met with the cabinet sub to select finishes, etc. and he provided me with five computer-generated illustrations of the new kitchen. Pendleton Construction provided a total cost estimate for the kitchen model. There were no plans or measurements provided.

After receiving other written estimates from others we ended up going with another contractor. I'm surprised that as an Angie's List recommended service provider that he is not providing written estimates. Everything you read on Angie's List says to get three written estimates for this type of work.
Description of Work: We purchased the $50.00 kitchen design. Bob Pendleton came out and provided plans to redo our kitchen. We picked out cabinets and fixtures and Bob came back out to provide an estimate. No part of the estimate was ever given to us in writing, so we were unable to know what part of the estimate covered materials and what covered the labor.

It went very well. I think one thing that I learned is you, the homeowner, need to be very prepared with your choices. Some items may take longer to get in than you realize, so allow plenty of time before the start to make sure you have everything picked out. And you need to allow them the time to do the quality work, this is not going to be done in a week or two.
Description of Work: Quality kitchen remodel including a wall and soffit removal; all new cabinets/counter tops/sink; electrical work; new lighting; drywall work; painting; crown molding; backsplash. Bob and his subs are very professional, quality work all around. The cabinets are from Specialized Cabinets and Phil was great to work with, had suggestions to improve the work flow of the kitchen and was very patient and helpful in choices.

I think the design was good but I had wanted the costs broken down as example: tile vs Prego flooring; run water line under the floor so the refrigerator could have an automatic ice maker (home built 1973); etc. These different costs were not broken down so I could decide what I could afford to add or have to delete in a remodeling project.. I did not have the work done because I could not afford to do it at this time.

The owner and cabinet builder came to the house. Very professional, very good at calling to set up appointments, etc. They gave me lots of great ideas for the kitchen and we arrived at a scheme that we thought would work. They left to come up with the plans and the bid. They came back in a timely manner, but had a rough sketch, not a set of plans. They gave me a total cost for the work, but not in writing and not broken down by item. I asked for allowances made for various components (like the cabinets, electrical, countertops), and made notes, but could not get a written quote. When I enquired about the plans that I was supposed to receive, I got an answer about angie's list keeping the money and he didn't get anything and couldn't do that for nothing. I subsequently got a quote from another contractor and they did the work for about $10,000 less.
Description of Work: I bought an angie's list "coupon" for a complete set of plans for a kitchen remodel. I think that the couponwas $50 for what was estimated to me $500 worth of plans. I asked for and received a quote for the work

I'm not really sure we got that much for $50 and I know they're busy people but a lot of folks would do what they did for nothing. It was kind of vague what they wanted to do and what their quote was because I never had it in writing. I had kind of expected at least a sketch or something, but it was all just very rushed and it felt like they were really being kind of put out to squeeze us in and I just don't think we got much for $50. I don't think I would go forward with them and that's more because of us rather than them and the fact that we had other home improvement projects that were higher priority. They were professional but really just too busy for us. I probably won't use them again because I didn't like the fact that they didn't have time to give me anything in writing.
Description of Work: Pendleton Construction came out and looked at what we had. They did not write up a quote but just gave us a phone call later.

The tear off took a while but it was a mess. Then the deck was rebuilt. It is a huge double deck. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away. It would have been nice if it would have been finished sooner but I would rather have quality workmanship which we got. I was very pleased.
Description of Work: We have a huge L shaped double deck of redwood. The upper deck was in terrible shape with dry rot. We needed it torn off and some of the lower deck replaced also. This took a long time due to the extensive work needed in the tear off. Wood was replaced. and it was painted and stained. I thought the cost a bit high but it was not an easy job. The work was superb. Adam did most of the work. Shane came some of the time. Mike did the painting and staining. All of the men were very professional and worked continually and hard. Bob himself seemed very knowledgeable about construction and I would hire him again. And have recommended him to others.

I was not pleased. I would not ever pay for Bob Pendelton's service.
Description of Work: I paid for a 300.00 kitchen design. Bob Pendelton came to my home with another contractor. He assumed that I did not want to remodel my entire kitchen and at that point became very cold. It was clear to me that unless I was going to be doing a lot of work he was not interested. This was not a free estimate. I paid for his service!! He acted like I was wasting his time. However the cabinet contractor that Bob brought with him (Phil Tate with Fashion Cabinet Manufacturing) was excellent. He talked me through many different options and actually listened to what I was looking for. I would not have Pendelton Construction do any work in my home.

Response from Pendleton Construction
Member purchased a$50 coupon for a custom kitchen design offered through angies list big deal promotion. When Member contacted us about the coupon I indicated to her that angies list had put her area in the promotion my mistake, and it was outside our area to make it cost effective and to be competitive with our costs.I told Member that we would still honor her coupon.Phill Tate from Fashion Cabinet is our exclusive kitchen and bath cabinet designer, not a contractor.Phill and myself went out to the appointment, when we arrived to measure,Charlotte indicated that she would probably be just replacing the countertops and maybe some cabinets where a built in desk was, instead of a full kitchen remodel, because her husband had just spent $75,000 on a new porche.I admit it probably took a little wind out of my sail, and I was wrong for being so obvious. We still honerd the coupon by giving her a complete custom kitchen design with 3D views.I am sorry that Member feels the way that she does, however we did meet our obligation to provide the service that the angies list big deal coupon represented.

Went great he was punctual and very professional
Description of Work: Bob was punctual in when he said that he would be for his services. We did not do the remodel project due to the fact that we already have two kitchens, but his price was very fair and he included in the proposal quality products. They were very professional - on time, considerate of my needs and answered all my questions. In discussing plans for the kitchen they obviously had a lot of experience and knew what they were doing. They took plenty of time to go over everything with me. The cost of remodeling was too much for us right now, but friends have told me the estimate from Pendleton's was very reasonable for a good quality remodel.
Description of Work: They provided plans for remodeling my kitchen. They took measurements, went over everything that would need to be done, found out what my preferences were, then drew up plans that could be used for remodeling along with an estimation of cost. At a second visit they explained all the details of the plan.

Everyone complains about the ?Typical? contractor that never shows up on time, doesn?t return phone calls, is over budget and doesn?t finish the work. Well my friends, you will not find that in Bob Pendleton. We hired Bob to build a 1500+ square feet addition and garage onto our 1948 house. This was not an easy task and with any project there are hiccups that arise. Bob was always on top of his subs. By the time the first sub was about the finish the next one was unloading their equipment to get started. I have never seen something go up so fast! If there were issues, Bob was right on it and taking care of the problem where it was solved quickly and efficiently. The quality of his teams work is great and to code/standard. It is always stressful to go through a large project on your home and hiring Bob will eliminate 90% of that stress. Even after the project is finished and everyone is paid, if something comes up- Bob is right there to help get it solved. You cannot go wrong with Pendleton Construction! Feriz and Cynthia Shala

I had an opportunity to meet and work with Bob Pendleton in completing in entire exterior makeover of my home. At the beginning of the project as I began the basic legwork in gathering up various contractors to replace all windows, replaced roofing, and what I thought was going to be painting the exterior of my home a neighbor recommended I give Bob Pendleton a call. Bob quickly set up an appointment to meet with and review the project I had in mind. Bob then spent time inspecting in gathering all of the detailed information needed to recommend the next steps in completing my project. Fortunately, with Bob's expertise and professionalism he identified several aspects within my project I had not taken into consideration that would have caused many problems in years to come with the stucco and foundation of the home. Many contractors claim to be business minded, but few are truly professional. Bob took the extra time ensuring I was comfortable with the structural improvements while spending time with my wife ensuring the colors scheme met her approval. I truly appreciate Bob's professionalism and admire Bob's skill and compassion in working with people. I highly recommend Pendleton construction for any and every construction project around the home. Thanks Bob for a job well done!

We are very pleased with the work Pendleton Construction did for us. Bob was easy to work with, doing quality work that has been greatly appreciated over the years since the garage was completed. A construction project rarely is completed without some type of problem popping up, but Bob took care of the few problems that did occur so quickly and to our satisfaction that it did not seem to us that there were any problems. We may have been a problem to Bob as we made a few changes after work was began. He was happy to work with us on those changes making sure we understood the price difference and still getting the work done in a timely manner. We feel the work was the best quality, the price was fair and we are very happy with the results. With our car and truck in a garage now we smile every time it snows.

We used them two years ago to remodel our kitchen, dining room, and living room. They reconfigured the space by removing some interior walls and remodeling some exterior walls. They installed new windows, new cabinets, a new fireplace, new wood flooring, new electrical wiring. They were very easy to work with. They made sure we were happy with what they were doing. A year later, they built a new deck and pergola. I love my new indoor and outdoor spaces and would recommend them to anyone.

We didn't know Bob before this major project, and we were able to enjoy a painless reconstruction experience with him. Microwave meals came in pretty handy for a few months. Bob was involved every step of the way, meeting with us to go over everything whenever it was needed. When we met with the kitchen cabinet maker, Bob was there. Bob was always there seeing everything through regardless of who was doing the job. If ever there was a problem, Bob was on the phone getting the matter handled. We call Bob a friend now because of his active involvement in this project. The crew was always on time, cleaned up after themselves, and were very respectful of our home. Bob even installed a Porta Potty so that we wouldn't have everyone in and out of our house using the bathroom. I can't say enough good things about Bob and Pendleton Construction.
Description of Work: Pendleton Construction / Bob Removed the old kitchen, framed up the new 400 sq. ft. addition for a great room with fireplace, built a new back entrance from the garage with archway, built a new washer/dryer room and added a new patio. We have beautiful tile floors which his crew did an awesome job with each stone they placed. We also did a bathroom remodel with slate around the new bathtub and slate tiles on the floor with a beautiful design done by Pendleton Construction.

We saw a garage addition that Bob Pendleton had completed. We talked to the owners. They were very pleased with the work, so we didn't get a lot of bids. Based on the quality of the workmanship, we decided Pendleton Construction was the company we wanted to do our work. We were very pleased with the work Pendleton Construction performed for us. The materials provided were the very best quality. We were very pleased with the sub-contractors Pendleton Construction used. Bob and his sons were so pleasant to deal with. We felt Bob was very honest in his dealings with us. Any small details that we noted needed attention were addressed immediately. They left the area free of rubbish and scrap building materials. It has been almost two years since the work was completed. It has given us time to really appreciate the quality of the work that was accomplished. We can highly recommend Pendleton Construiction Company.
