I called and asked for information about having some ornamental iron work put across my front porch. Spoke to a very nice gentleman who told me they could do any design I wanted, but that they were quite busy at the moment. I said that was fine; I could wait. He took down all my information and asked me to e-mail photos of an example that I liked to the owner, which I went to some trouble to do. My e-mail was never acknowledged and I never got a follow-up phone call. That was months ago; I have not heard a word from them since.
Description of Work: Requested information and a quote. (Don't remember the exact date, but it was in the Spring of 2011)

I requested bids from several companies and from JC the salesman/estimator/project coordinator that I delt with was Mark Jenneman. Mark was a pleasure to work with and followed my requests/instructions for the fence & gates very well. He provided a timely bid that was the right amount for what I considered the project would cost. His bid wasn't the cheapest. But it wasn't the highest either. Along with the price being good, I liked the materials Mark offered and that they would custom work the panels and fence to my application's needs. When I gave them the go ahead I also requested if possible that they complete the work by a specific date not too much ahead of the minimum lead time Mark said they needed to fabricate the panels and powder coat them. Mark talked with the owner JC and indicated that they should be able to get it installed before my date request (guests coming to the house). The panels were made on time and Mark had their installation crew out on the day promised. The first day they came and tore-down/removed the old split-rail fence. It it was a much tougher job than they intially thought since the old fence posts were installed with about 2-3 times the concrete needed for each post. The bases they had to dig out of the ground were massive! Their crew worked their tails off in the summer heat getting those out. The next day they installed all the wrought iron panels except for one gate that had to be re-made/adjusted (something wasn't exactly right with it). The next day they came and put it in. When I inspected everything after the installation, I wan't totally happy with the gate on one side (opened the opposite way I wanted it to) and that there was a little too much gap between the edge of the fence and the side of the house brick that it butted up against. I thought the gap might have been big enough for a mid-size dog to squeeze through (we currently don't have one, but are wanting to in the future). So I called Mark up and requested that they fix those two issues. He said no problem and had the installers come back out to fix both issues to my satisfaction. All in all they did a fantastic job and were a great company to work with. I would hire them again without reservation. They did quality work at a good price and took care of the details important to their customer!
Description of Work: Hired JC Ornamental Iron to tear down an old 4' tall split-rail fence that seperated my front yard from my back yard on both sides of my house and put up a new black 4' tall wrought iron fence it its place . Once side was about 15' from the side of the house to the neighbor's fence and the other about 50' from the other side of the house to the neighborhood/HOA brick wall. I also had them install 3 gates. Two double wide (two 4' gates that lock/secure in the middle) gates (to get a vehicle/equipment through if needed) and one single 4' wide walkway gate. Since I have a pool in the backyard I also required Magna Latches on all three gates.

Mark came out and measured and, a day or two later, gave me an estimate for the work. The price was fair. The work was beautiful! Julio paid great attention to the curves around the pool and to the varying heights. We are truly pleased with the final product. The contract we signed stated that the work would take 10 - 14 days. It ended up taking a month, because of a backup at one of their suppliers. These things happen. The problem for me, however, (and I discussed this with Mark) was that the schedule slippage was not being communicated to me unless I initiated the call. Also, it was difficult to reach anyone by phone, because the only phone number given out was the company's main number, which very rarely was answered, probably because the folks who interact with the customers are out in the field. Again, I understand this. My friendly suggestion to JC and Mark is that they give their customers their work cell phone numbers, so customers can call them during normal business hours, regardless of whether they happen to be in the office or out in the field, and that schedule slippages be communicated to the customer more readily.

Looked at the old gate, give us a price and installed the next day. Works beautifully. Wish all repairs would go this smooth.

This was a small job, but I was treated the same as a customer with a large job. They kept in contact with me while the rails were being fabricated. The rails were put in on schedule. And they followed up to make sure I was satisfied with the work.

The bid process was easy. Mark came out and measured the job and provided a quote a couple days later. The installation process went well also. My only reason for not giving the company all A's was that it took longer for them to get out to install the fence that I would have liked (though part of that was weather related), and they did not install a gate latch on an existing gate on the first trip and had to come out again to install that.
Description of Work: I had approximately 15-20' of iron fence installed in my backyard. The fence was installed such that it crossed a concrete path. A gate was installed where the fence crossed the path. I also had an existing iron fence in the yard that had a gate that would no longer close due to it shifting in the ground. They were able to repair this as well. They installed pool safety latches on the new gate and the existing gate.

Job went smoothly from start to finish. We were able to set up an appointment w/in a few days of our call. JC described his product and services. After selecting his bid, we set a date for the job. On the set date, the weather was not good. JC's staff called early in the morning to let us know they could not install the fence that day, and set a reschedule date. The night before, they called to confirm the install. Installation was done quickly and precisely. The installer checked w/me to confirm the layout and checked on exactly where I wanted the fence. After installation, they cleaned up well.

I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: JC Ornamental iron works did an excellent job with both the design and installation of puppy bars on my existing fence. Due to the slope of my lot they had to customize some bars in the fencing. They did a great job combining style and function to meet my needs. They were really great to work with and responsive to my questions. Their work is very high quality and their prices are excellent!

Men arrived on time and got right to work. Gates and needed framework were installed and look great (more importantly they perform great), however there were a couple of issues that prevent me from giving "A" grades across the board. The workmen broke one of the inground irrigation lines (when digging the post hole) despite my repeated warnings that there was a pipe down there. While they did repair the line, they did not clean the dirt out of it completely and I had to call my lawn irrigation company to come and clean it out (removed the sprinkler head and let the water flow) the following week. When the workmen were finished with the gate and had packed up to go they presented me with a final invoice. At that time I mentioned that the locking mechanism had not been welded to the frame of the wood gate. The workman said "How about if I screw it into the gate?" The obvious reply was "Well if you could screw it in don't you think a burglar could just unscrew it?" So they got out the welding equipment and did what was contracted they do. Finally, and after they left, I had to pick up a couple of empty water bottles (I supplied them with the water) they had left around. I must say that I am very happy with the gate's look and performance (after all that was the most important part of the job now isn't it?) and did recommend them to my neighbor, who used them and was very happy with them. I feel this company is just so close to being truly exceptional.

Mr Worley responded to my voicemail within a couple of hours and was prompt in coming out to give me an estimate. Compared to the other contractors from whom I requested estimates, JC Worley's estimate was very reasonable. In addition to giving me an estimate on the spot, he followed up with an email providing me with a hard copy of his estimate and detailing the work to be done. Within 7 days after our first meeting, the work was completed. I was VERY pleased with the end result - there were no surprises, and JC Worley's company gave me exactly what I wanted. I would most definitely use his services again, and I would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: I needed wrought-iron railing installed on my front terraced steps for my 88-year-old mother who lives with us. I wanted a terraced rail on either side of the steps as well as a short rail on either side of my front porch step-up.
