Creative Concrete

We spoke to two other contractors and Kenneth gave us the best price. We contacted him mid July and he called right back to schedule a consult. He wrote up an estimate on the spot, and we called him later that evening to book him for the following month. He called every morning before heading over and set expectations for us through the entire process. We were concerned since our home is older (built in 1963) that the concrete would not come out as clean with just an acid stain, but he did a fantastic job. We have received so many compliments from friends and family, and I look forward to finding another project so we can work with him again!

Kenneth did an amazing job with our patio. This was something my husband has wanted for a long time and when we moved into our new home he saw an opportunity to have it done. Quite honestly I was ambivalent to the whole thing but once I saw the process and finished product I was blown away. Kenneth did a beautiful job! The main color he picked complimented the brick on our home beautifully. Then he topped it off with a very cool darker border and a "grout" line to make this nice clean delineation between the two colors. We are very happy and Kenneth is fantastic. Professional, kind, hardworking, and a perfectionist. I could not have asked for better.

We are very happy with the results and plan to spend a lot of time there relaxing and enjoying the view.

I called Kenneth to ask if he could help me repair a very poor cement job (new slab patio poured which had some irregularities in color and was then painted over - which I hated even more). He returned my call promptly. We set up a time to meet - he was always on time and where/when he said he'd be. He estimated a low end of $750 to acid/power wash the paint off and a high bid of $1500 if he needed to restain/color the cement once he removed the grey color. Once he started working on the patio and two sets of slab steps (leading into the backyard patio area), he said he should be able to remove the paint and restore to the native cement. He worked almost 4 full days in removing all of the color. He did an amazing job - I didn't realize how much I hated the painted color (which was put on by the previous contractor and then he promptly stopped answering calls when he realized how poor the job was). I feel that Kenneth helped restore my faith in great workmanship and honest work/labor with great results. I'm so happy with how it looks and the final tab was less than what he had estimated at the high end. How often does that happen?!

They were meticulous, professionally competent and very responsible. Of all the contractors that I had used, they were the best and most trustworthy. I never worried about what they were doing, unlike many others who get away with sub-standard work. They were perfectionists and seemed to enjoy their work, and they were the best people who ever worked in my house. If I ever have another house made, I am surely going to use them.

We had horrendous, pet-destroyed carpets in two rooms in our home that we wanted to be rid of quickly. We love the look of stained concrete and wanted to explore that possibility. After doing a little research, we were excited to find Kenneth on Angie's List. We contacted him and left a message requesting a call back, which we received within an hour. Kenneth came to out our home (on time!) and gave us a detailed description of the work that would need to be performed, the basics of stained concrete, and gave us an estimate and time frame for the job. We discussed our options and chose to go with Kenneth for the job. Kenneth was initially scheduled to start the job earlier, but a previous job had run long (after removing the carpet in someone's home, he found old laminate glued to the floor, which took an extended period of time to scrape off before he could begin staining their concrete). Kenneth proactively called us to let us know what was going on and give us an estimate of when he would be able to begin work in our home. We never felt as though we had to chase him down to see what his timeline was, which we appreciated. Once he started work on our home, things progressed exactly as Kenneth had described. He always kept us up to date on how things were progressing and what the next step would be. I especially appreciated that Kenneth did a great job of keeping things as clean as possible. Kenneth completed both rooms in our home within a week and the results are fabulous! Our previously smelly, dirty carpet was hauled away, the concrete was cleaned and repaired, an acid stain, two coats of sealer, and a wax shine were applied - all for $1000 (Which was the initial estimate and well worth it given the state of our cat urine filled carpet - yuck!). We are so pleased with the results! We would definitely recommend Kenneth for any similar job and we will likely hire him again when we are ready to tackle our patio. Overall, Kenneth does an excellent job of communicating and keeping his customers well informed, his work is beautiful, and we felt comfortable having him in our home. A+!

The finished product came out absolutely amazing! I love the darker border and the scored line which gives the appearance of a grout line and frames the entire room. Kenneth was great to work with and finished the job on schedule, he provided instructions on how to clean the floors while maintaining the glossy finish. I would recommend Kenneth to my friends and family, and if I had additional concrete in my home would be happy to use him again. Please feel free to browse the attached pictures, don't let the lack of baseboards detract from the amazing concrete staining. Baseboards will be my next project if you anyone has a good recommendation :).

Kenneth returned my initial call within a day, set up an appointment to make an estimate and was willing to work with our schedule to designate week to complete flooring. He arrived as scheduled, was very careful with our home and kept dust and odor to a minimum! He checked with us every day to see if progress, color and finish met our desires - which it did! He was extremely professional and provided a quality product. We have already talked with him about future applications in other rooms!

Wish I coukld give him an A+++++, he is that good! We tried to stain and seal the concrete floors of my house but botched the job. Kenneth came on time, gave me a description of the work he would do and a price. It worked out that he could start the next day. He and his helper spent 3 days removiong the old stain and sealer. They even worked on the weekend as I could not move into the house until he was finished. He used two colors to blend the stain and then sealed it. The last day was spent putting a buffed coat on it. It is simply beautiful. Kenneth is a real artist when it comes to mixing color. He was always polite and professional and a pleasure to have working in my house.

He was very nice, personable and easy to get along with. He was also very accommodating.

We called Ken to come to our home and give us a quote. He began working on our floors the day after. Immediately I felt comfortable with Ken. He was in our home for several days. He is hard worker and very detail oriented. He genuinely cares about the concerns of his customers and fully discloses any problems that he might foresee. The others companies we called, without even looking at our floors said that a concrete overlay would be required. Ken discussed with us why he didn't recommend an overlay. Knowing what I know about overlays now I wouldn't recommend it either. We will definitely be hiring Ken (creative concerete) again. I would recommend him to anyone. As a matter of fact we have already recommended him to family members.

Ken and his partner were very professional and took extra care in cleaning up after themselves. Work was outstanding due to their extra effort in making sure it was thoroughly cleaned bdfore applying the new stain and sealer. He put extra coats of sealer to make the old half and the new half match. I would recommend them to anyone.

We have a 14+ year old home that is beginning to show some age. A water leak in a bathroom saturated the carpet in a bedroom which was the reason that we looked for alternative flooring. We took up the carpet/pad (nasty) and decided to just have the slab refinished...much easier to maintain. Looked on Angie's list and found Kenneth at Creative Concrete. He came out and gave us an estimate which was in line with what we were prepared to pay (according to other Angie's List reviews for similar work done). We accepted the bid and he started the work the next day. Kenneth called when on the way (every time) to make sure we were ready for him...good communication is a must for me...and he is excellent at it. We had the luxury of my teenage boys being out of school while we were at work so that Kenneth had access to the house. He cleaned the slab with a machine (middle of room) and by hand (around the edges) the first day. The next day he pathed the carpet strip holes then put a coat of stain on the floor later that day. Normally he told me that he can clean and patch in the same day but my slab took a LOT of cleaning because of paint/sheetrock mud. He made sure we understood that the floor would look really ugly after the stain application until he was able to mop it...when we got home and looked at it, we understood what he meant! He arrived shortly after that to mop it and gave us a look at what the floor was actually going to look like. Our slab didn't take the stain very well in a few spots and this prompted Kenneth to ask us how it looked to us. We told him it looked great except for a couple of spots that didn't take the stain well. He agreed and told us that he could re-stain with a water based stain that didn't have to "react" with the concrete...which would fix that problem...and then he could seal it. Remember what I said about the importance of good communication...he also told us that this step would add more time, and we were good with that. His fix worked perfectly and we couldn't be happier with the look of our floors! Before Kenneth left, I made sure he got a visual of the NEXT room that we want HIM to do!!!!

I did contact them but the project would not work out. He was very honest and he told me it would not look very well. He sent me a picture of what the concrete would look like if we pulled up the tile and I decided not to go through with the project. He took care of all of this over email. He was very responsive and told me the truth. I made a decision and it all went very quickly.

They had great communication skill and were good. I had to reschedule the appointments a few times, in spite of which, things went on well. I liked their services and will use them in future.

The carpet was 10 years old and since we have many pets it was always hard to keep it clean, so we made the decision to remove all the carpet and have the concrete stained. I called two companies that were recommended by friends and also called Creative Concrete which I found on Angie's list. Of the friend recommended companies, one never called me back and the other setup an appointment, never showed up for the appointment and never returned my call. So I set up an appointment with Kenneth from Creative Concrete and he showed up on time, which is something of a rarity since I live in the country. He fully explained his process, answered all my questions and gave me an estimate. He was very up front about letting us know that certain imperfections in the concrete would stand out, but showed us pictures of other work he had done and how the imperfections looked in those cases. After seeing the pictures and talking with him we were confident that it would look good, and we were right. He performed the work over the week after Christmas and New Years. It took a little longer than normal because he could come out a couple days due to the snowstorm we had. However he did work on New Years and the Sunday after in order to minimize our inconvenience. He spent the majority of his time cleaning the concrete. He told us that was the key to making the final product look good. He was very professional and always wiling to answer any questions we had. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and would definitely use him again and recommend him to friends and family.

A truly excellent experience. Kenneth is really an artist and a craftsman and his integrity shines through. He and Mario, who helped with the cleaning, patching and sanding, did incredibly meticulous work with absolute attention to detail. The floors are perfectly beautiful, with rich and glowing color. We've had stained concrete floors before in another house but Kenneth's work is way, way better than the usual quickie stained concrete projects you usually see. Plus, he thoroughly masked off the existing woodwork before starting and not a speck of stain went anywhere that it shouldn't - and at the end of the project, left the work area so clean you could eat off it. Seriously. He also knew that we had a hardwood floor project planned in an adjacent area so they took the initiative to make sure that their work was coordinated with those plans. He was also super-efficient and did everything he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it. Communication was great throughout the entire project (took parts of four days since stain and sealer needed time to dry).

I liked their service and responsiveness. I rate them high overall.

Flawless transaction. My living room floor looks like a million bucks; should be in the lobby of a high end hotel! I had it scored and stained with a darker border around the room - just beautiful. The job went more quickly than I expected, too. Kenneth was a pleasure to work with; returned phone calls promptly, showed up everyday, made lots of progress everyday, cleaned up everyday. He did exactly what he promised and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. In the early part of next year I'll be having him back to do my bedrooms and hallway!

He's a great guy and he does good work. He was really professional, he is very dependable, and he really knows what he is doing. I recommend him.

I did proceed with the work, as I'm dealing with foundational issues at the moment. But, should I move in this direction, I'd choose him.

Kenneth is great. He is easygoing and casual on the outside and nothing but a perfectionist inside. We choose Creative Concrete because of the experience that Kenneth had in the acid staining process. He was one of the only companies we talked with that did not push doing an overlay on the floor (we talked to about 8 companies.) Kenneth explained the materials and process to us extensively. He stripped the old flooring, filled the nail holes, acid stained the floors, etched the floors, did some corrective coloring/camouflaging of problem areas and sealed the floors. He communicated with me daily about the process and how it was progressing. He showed up every day. He was nice to my pets;) The floors look fabulous. We are thrilled with them. A truly easy and positive experience.
