We had a leaking pipe on an exterior wall of the kitchen. Rather then rip out the cabinets, the plumber came at it from outside and cut a hole in the stucco of the house. He replaced the PEX pipe (looks like it got nicked by a wayward screw) but of course left me a big hole in the wall. I covered it with some thick plastic drop cloth and a lot of duct tape. I started looking for a stucco guy to fix it. I called several and Michael said he could stop by the next day. He called early and asked if he could come before our appointment time as he had finished his morning work early. He looked at it for about 2 minutes and said he could fix it right away and it would be 300. Not knowing anything about the cost of stucco repair and thinking 300 bucks to repair the huge hole in my house was a good deal, I agreed. I don't think I would have been so quick to agree, but he had all A ratings on Angie's List and is originally from Canada, so he's a big time hockey guy. I'm a hockey guy too and he noticed I have a framed hockey sweater in the office of my house, so we talked a good deal of hockey. He arrived the next morning and set about fixing the hole. He replaced the insulation that the plumber had to pull out to fix the pipe. He also replaced the plywood, vapor barrier (his was black - I think it might have been roofing paper, but I wasn't watching) mesh lath and the scratch coat. He told me the scratch coat had to dry overnight and he would be back the next afternoon. Next day - right on time, Michael is working away. After he did the top coat, he went into my garage attic to get the exterior paint so he could paint the wall. Finished up, cleaned up and everything looks great. As with any patch job, if you look close enough, you can see where it was patched, but if you are more than a few feet away - no chance you can tell any work was done. It looks great and I even referred Michael to a builder friend of mine that has used him a few times for repair work as well!

Michael is independent and does his own work. He does not hire unskilled labor to do the scut work. He does it to see all sides of the project he is to do. He takes great pride in his work and works diligently to do an excellent job and to keep his work area efficient and tidy. Michael arrived at each appointment exactly on time. He returned all calls within minutes. He submitted his estimate quickly. It was understandable and was the lowest quote. Some of the larger companies took a long time to send the quote, said workers would do the job and it came in 3 times more costly. Because I had to submit a claim to the insurance company, it took months to learn the damage would not be covered. As time went on and I gave Michael Bilodeau updates, he continuously said his quote would be honored even though some supplies had increased in price. He showed up each day when he said that he would. He cleaned the work area completely each night. He worked continuously, was extremely polite and was always willing to explain the step he was on whenever I checked progress. I am VERY PLEASED with his work! He's returning (from Arlington to North Garland/Richardson area) to put commercial stucco caulk around an electrical box that is mounted on a stucco wall on the opposite side of the house from where he worked on his project. It should have been caulked when the house was built. He said he wants to do a final check of his work and also caulk where the stucco meets wood on his project. I paid him in full because I know with 100% certainty that he will be back next week after the stucco is dry and painted. Don't be put off by his voicemail message. His child put it on his phone and he doesn't know how to change it. (I am techno-challenged so I am sympathetic.) It not understandable but you can still leave a message at the end and he'll return your call in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Michael Bilodeau and his work. I would use him again!
Description of Work: I have a 2,800sf, 2-story, brick and stucco home. My neighbor's sprinkling system had severely damaged the stucco, exterior wall of my home on our mutual, zero lot line side. The damage was the entire length of the wall on the other side of my master bedroom and bathroom. When my neighbors sold their home, the new owner was cooperative to put in a soaker system rather than a spray system, so it was time to seek a fix for the wall. The stucco, exterior wall had by now buckled and cracked, had a sour smell and was badly discolored. The damaged section was 4' x 30'. Michael repaired up to 6 feet to be sure to get all the damage. The stucco was cut off in neat 2' squares, as well as, the weatherproof board (not the right word but close enough). Michael checked for termites, carpenter ants, mold, mice and rotting of any boards. Luckily, the house was well built and there was no interior damage. He cut new waterproof boards and reattached to the framing, covered that with a waterproof black covering that had never been there before. Then, he put on a heavy wire. He, then, applied a very even and visually perfect mud on top of the wire. After the mud set up, he applied the stucco top coat. Michael Bilodeau is gifted. You cannot tell the repaired section below that is 6' x 30' with the upper section that goes a good 25 feet higher. He taped and blended the two sections horizontally for a horizontal 30' so there is no line or evidence of repair. I am so, so pleased with the quality of the work and the match!

This was my first experience with Angie's List and I was influenced by the positive reviews on this tradesman. I wasn't disappointed. His work and professionalism were exemplary. I would definitely use him again and I would recommend him.
Description of Work: A portion of the stucco fascia on the front of my house had been broken loose by birds building nests and perhaps other critters. Michael did a seamless repair that is entirely unnoticeable. He made other minor repairs to the exterior of my home, checking and re-caulking around windows as needed. After he left I noticed that he'd even caulked around the mailbox at the street. He also advised reducing the level of mulch in the beds abutting the stucco keeping it a couple of inches below.

Michael did a great job for us. We had a tricky repair due to water leaks. A previous repair by another contractor had not worked. Michael had to add waterproofing materials and carefully work around flashings to guard against future leaks. He also saved us money by restuccoing part of a wall instead of the entire wall which is not easy to do, but he made it look good. We were very pleased with everything he did. Nice guy and a great craftsman.

Description of Work: My condo complex has a stucco exterior. After I put in new windows I needed something to cover the rough edge of the new window and the stucco. Michael came out and applied a styrofoam frame around the door and then went over it in stucco and painted it to match the exterior. Looks awesome. He is a nice, reliable person and is very good at what he does.

Mr Bilodeau first install vapor barrior, then stainless steel wire, one thick coat of a stucco primer, then the final stucco. He did all the work in 2 days and it looks great. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others in the neighborhood. He was always on time, and did exactly what he said he would complete. He also did a great job of making sure that all areas of the eaves was sealed well. I did not have any idea what to expect or what to expect regarding labor and supplies but Mr. Bilodeau did a great job.
Description of Work: I called Mr Bilodeau and he came out to my home the same day to give me an estimate. I recently added to the back of my historical house and I wanted to keep the same appearance of the roof line, eaves, and beams. I needed someone to add stucco to the eaves of the back of my house prior to painting.

Called many stucco repair companies and was most inclined to trust Mr. Bilodeau assessment of the problem. He did not try to sell me more that what I call him for. He was honest about what I could expect from the repair (the slight change in texture would still show through the new paint). His price was reasonable. He showed up on time. He worked hard to make a nice result. Very highly recommended!
Description of Work: Removed broken stucco and repaired small craze lines in stucco and painted side of house so that repairs were not visible.
