+ -1 moreI finally had to purchase all of the equipment and perform the installation myself. These guys have a good local reputation and I understand that they have done good work for others. My experience was that you cannot get them to call you back if they are already busy on another job.
Description of Work: I called for an estimate on a sprinkler system upgrade. The system was leaking water past a control valve. They arrived promptly and located all of the control valves for my system. They advised that before any work be done on the sprinkler systems, that a pressure-drop test be perforformed on my house to ensure that there was no leak internal to the house. I had this done by a local plumber, James Lane Air Conditioning & Plumbing. I sent a report to Spires via FAX with the plumbing service report stating that there was no leaks internal to the house. The only possible leak could be the sprinkler system. With the sprinkler system isolated, the plumber applied a 10 PSIG over-pressure to my house, using a bottle of compressed Nitrogen. He allowed a 30 minute dwell time and noted the pressure before and after. He found no measureable pressure drop. From this test, he concluded that there were no leaks in the house. I asked Spires to quote on upgrading my irrigation controller, adding a ground water sensor, and possibly a rain sensor and remote control. I asked for a quote on the following scope of work: supply and instal the following equipment: · One (1) Hunter Pro-C Outdoor control station, 120 VAC, with six (6) zone configuration; One (1) Irrometer WaterSwitch Soil Moisture Sensor and Switch, 24 VAC, single sensor configuration; One (1) Hunter BPSW Bypass Switch Box, for bypassing the Irrometer device for manual control. Optionally, please quote: One (1) Hunter Mini-Clik to be wired in series with the Irrometer device; One (1) Hunter Pro-C compatible remote control system. Even after repeated telephone messages and faxes, there was no response. I even called Jeff Spires mother and asked her to get ahold of him to respond to my RFQ. Still no response.
