Handyman Connection of Austin-Westlake

Handyman connection is a network of individual contractors who assigned my request to one of their clients, Jaime. Work was done in a timely manner but the quote was for $550 "plus expenses." For less than a full sheet of drywall, a couple of six foot 2x4's, and miscellaneous "mud" and nails, the expenses came to $170.00. What amounted to restocking his truck. My wife paid the invoice without my knowledge and without an understanding of costs involved. Work was also not cleaned up afterward with spackling and dust everywhere. In general, while liking Jaime personally and him talking a good game, I was disappointed in the final product.

We called about 10 A.M. and Lee was sent out at 1 P.M. and we described what we needed done and he called his office and they gave the $90 estimate for the work provided we supplied the materials, which we did (see description above).

I gave this company a call to get this job started. He was able to get to the job pretty quickly. He made sure that the rail was solid and my threshold is close fitting.

I had a problem with the door after they installed it and they had no problem coming back out to fix it for me. They are good workers and they are very knowledgeable about many different things. They stand behind their work as well.

He tried to replace the capacitor with a capacitor the Hunter-Douglas sent me. No matter what way he tried, the fan would not work. The thing that stands out in my mind is that he did not charge me, even though he spent all that time trying to fix the fan for me. They are on the top of my list of service providers.

Ron arrived on time to review the work; we walked through what needed to be done and a detailed list was provided to him to take back so that the estimate could be broken out accordingly. At the time of the visit we indicated the urgency of having the work completed and he said he would have an estimate to be later the same day but no later than the following day. Two days later we still had no estimate and when I contacted Ron he said there was no estimate coming, as they decided they could not get the job done as quickly as we needed. Understandable... but what is not understandable or professional is that no attempt was made to contact us to inform us of this decision. Thus we lost another 2 days toward getting the job completed while we waited.... for nothing!

He was very cordial he was on time he was very nice. Did a very good job and professional. The company called me back right way. He was out the very next day to fix the problems. He actual looking into an other issue for me on his own time.

I was told the company did not have ladders tall enough to reach the 2nd story. I was told their longest ladder is 20 feet, which sounded tall enough to me, but the receptionist said the handymen said it wasn't. I was pretty surprised to hear that a handyman company would have difficulty figuring out how to remove 2nd story shutters and wouldn't work with me on that. They did not make any recommendations on who to call to have them removed.

Gary has worked for us before and this was again excellent work. He and his helpers were extremely professional.

They took care of everything, identifying the problem, picking up the parts and installation. The handyman, Logan, was very good at explaining what I was doing and how I could prevent future problems. I am already creating a list of additional things I'd like him to come back and do.

They did everything they were supposed to do. Their prices were reasonable and they did really good work. They always came out when they said would and every time we called with a problem, they always came out to take care of it even though, occasionally, it did take them some time to fix some of the things that they had already repaired.

My experience was excellent. Jim arrived on time. He was friendly, professional, and efficient. He did each job and kept me informed about what he was doing. He quoted a price up front and once I accepted the price, he completed the work immediately.

Great job.......John Ferguson arrived on time, and was finished with the whole job in about 4.5 hours. He cleaned up and removed all packing materials. Also, because one of the blinds turned out to be defective when I received the replacement, he came back to do the re-installation at no charge. Again on time and within 2 days of when I called.

Excellent experience all around. Gary was courteous and professional when rescheduling the first date (because he and his wife had to be out of town for a family matter): he phoned well in advance and already had possible rescheduling dates in mind. It was only a few days delay. He performed the work well, even helping move some of the larger items off & back on the patio.

The company was great at calling right away and showed up on time and did the work promptly. The electrical part was done very well, however the patching and spackling did not meet my expectations and I had to re-paint it myself. This is partly my fault because I was sick the day this was done and apparently did not express my wishes over the phone and then did not get to speak w/the contractor myself when he came (my husband did).

The electrician came by and gave me an estimate to install a ceiling fan and two whole house surge protectors. He came in under estimate and he even fixed our faulty doorbell. He also saved us money by telling us that we really only needed one circuit box protected. He explained what he did and answered all of my questions. He also did not charge a trip fee for the work or for the estimate.

I must say they do an excellent job. I have used them frequently for about seven or eight years. The workers are very nice and I never worry letting them in my home. They always give me a complete estimate and they never over charge me. I wish they could do everything in my house instead of just handymen work.

I am very happy with the reliable service I get from this company. It's kind of a do-it-all service that is nice to rely on. I can always get a hold of them when I need to and they get right out to my house to take care of the job.

I thought they did a good job. Jim Ferguson did a good job painting on another occasion.

They were very nice and helpful. I felt they treated me well. The price included the materials and the work. I thought it was a fair price. I will call them again if I need any more small jobs done around my house.

The estimate was right on target. He always showed up on time and was very responsible. We left him at our house during the day to complete the work, which was very important as we both work. He was very trustworthy.

My major complaint is that some trim was removed but not replaced in the process of fixing the door jam. Thus the job is not complete. I called Justin & their office to explain. But it has been two days and no one has come over to fix it. I'm moving soon. If this is not taken care of, I plan to to dispute the credit card charge until they complete the job. To explain the work in more detail... The estimate was a high, but not beyond reason. Justin and another guy did the work. Their carpentry was good. They were generally nice people. However, the two guys were not good about scheduling or making their working hours clear. On Friday, they started work, but then took a long (2-3 hour) break. This was unexpected. On Saturday, he said would arrive between 9 and 10, but did not arrive until 11:30 am. As a result, it was difficult to know when I could leave the house for errands.

Went well. I was originally told that the work would be done after the quote if I accepted the quote. The workman didn't seem to think the same. Had to talk him into staying to complete the work, but he did it fine and without complaint. Needed to be more careful with the files as putting them back after he took them out took some time.

The office representative was very responsive and helpful; however, the representative that was supposed to come out to provide an estimate called that he would be a little late. I then called him twice about where he was, as he was 2 hours later than originally planned, and finally just told him to not come out.

Their bid was quite high, possibly since our project seemed too small for them. We do, however, appreciate the fact that they did honor their appointment to look at our fence.
