Handyman Connection of Austin-Westlake

We bought the new fence sections, and he removed the broken/rotten sections of the fence and put in the new ones. Some of the fence railings/pickets on the gate portion were broken, so he had to remove the hinges, replace the pickets, and reposition the hardware because the gate was sagging. Was done quickly, and he worked around the landscapers who were also working that day.

Gary was a delight to work with and he did an EXCELLENT job!

I didn't even ask them to clean the gutters, but he did it anyways. He was committed to a certain amount of time and got what I needed done quickly, so he found other things to do. I have dealt with them a few times. They are the general contractor, but then they find other contractors. They are affordable. You tell them what you want done, and then they shop around for the best company to provide the service. I have been pretty happy with them. Now that I know the structure of their business, I will be careful to ask more questions or provide them more criteria for my needs. They have done a lot of calling back to see if I have been satisfied. The people that I have talked to on the phone have been very good. They have good people working for them.

I had several people out here. I actually found someone else who did it. I don't remember how much Handyman Connection quoted me. I had actually used them before and they were not from Angie's List. They called right away and they came when they told me they would come, which is a big issue with contractors. Overall they were good.

They did a great job. I have used them before. They sent out somebody for an estimate and he said he would come and then when he did come, he panicked because the roof was steep. He called them and told them that he did not feel comfortable doing the job. They contract out different services and they sent somebody within an hour who felt comfortable getting up on my roof to replace the siding, and he did a great job. I am satisfied with their services. They did everything in a timely fashion. I did not get any other estimate, but the price was pretty reasonable for what they had to do. They were very responsive. When they ran into a difficulty, they found a solution and took care of it immediately. I would use them again in the future.

There were a few places where the caulk was not smooth out on the tub. He did not caulk the base of the tub like I ask. The caulk seam around the back of the toilet was not connected properly when it ended on one of the sides. The caulk edge on the door sill did not look clean. I'm sure if I had ask him to redo the caulk he would. I did not feel comfortable inspecting his work in front of him. He walked in my tub with his shoes. I had to scrub out my tub. It seemed the contractor wanted to charge me $50 for buying the caulk and weatherstrip at home depot when I could have easily done so myself. He didn't push it since the Big Deal was 2 hours for $75. He made me very confused about the pick up fee and the cost of the materials. I had the impression that he knew of a special caulk when it ended up being regular silicon. He went back and forth whether the Big Deal would cover the pick up fee or not. He should have just told me out right, please go get these things during the estimation. I originally wanted an estimate to replace my door sill. The contractor said I didn't need to replace my door sill, which I already know. Nevertheless, I want a door sill remodel. You can tell my door sill is not originally part of the door frame. In short, he was not the guy for the job, so I settle on the caulk since I already paid. Please note that the first appointment is a scheduled "work order" with this company and not an estimate like you told the dispatcher; and, you have to insist an estimate with the actual contractor when he calls to confirm your appointment. The lesson I learned is you need to get a few estimates from different companies and perhaps handyman service is not for remodeling. I am glad the Big Deal provided me an opportunity to try out a handyman service. Although the contractor did not charge me $50 for getting the caulk and weatherstrip at home depot, I felt he would have if not for the Big Deal. I did give him the 2 caulk tubes since I didn't want them to go waste.

Excellent - on time and efficient in figuring out what needed to be done [for support] and then improvising that.

These guys were great. The sanding and staining of the cabinets was meticulous and matches beautifully. They corrected the door jam problem that two other handymen had been unable to and the work was flawlessly done. They were thrown a loop when the exisitng flooring was no longer made, but got around it by ordering unfinished and finishing it to match the existing. (This was harder than it sounded because when the flooring arrived it was thicker than the existing and Frank had to plane it down board by board.) I was incredibly impressed with their professionalism, craftsmanship, and professionalism.

I signed up for Angie's list big deal and got 2 hours for $75.. One of the jobs I needed done was to put weatherstripping around my wooden front door. I had bought the weatherstripping and he put it on. Another gentleman did the second job. That was to remove the wood rot around my garage window and replace it. Also there was a whole in the window frame which needed repairing. He removed as much as he could of the wood rot and put treated wood in its place and primed it. He filled the hole in the window. He primed the wood and I said I would paint it. He also caulked around the window. I paid for an extra hour and supplies. He was very professional and polite. I would use them again.

The only major problem I had was not the fault of Gary Evans, the handyman in charge. The salesman at Lowe's mixed up siding stain for me instead of deck stain which supposedly takes foot traffic better than siding stain. I had pointedly requested the "best deck stain you have." However, when it turned out that I needed 5 gallons instead of 3 gallons and when I went back to Lowe's to get the other 2 gallons, I complained about their selling me the siding stain, and the "Paint guy" at Lowe's agreed that a mistake had been made and he gave me the remaining two gallons at no cost. Back to Handyman Connection: every job was done as requested. I do think the charge for washing and staining 600 sq ft of deck was too high ($600). But it's done and everything looks good. I would like to say a special thank you to the woman who answers the phone and does the scheduling for Handyman Connection. I called her to inquire about getting an electrical problem fixed. When I told her that it seems that the electricity was just suddenly cut off from my garage door opener as well as bathroom outlets, she suggested that I look around the garage for an outlet with a red button. I did and voil?, there it was. I pushed the button, and all were working again! I sure got that fixed at a good rate!

Called others and were told it would be seven days till they could get to me. Based on previous evaluations, I called Handyman Connection and they were able to get to me in two hours. Perfect repair. Replaced offending pipe and done. Can't beat that for service. Very impressed when the freezing weather is causing such a mess.

The leak was $194 and $972 for the water heater. They were on time, got it done so fast I was stunned, they were very professional and did exactly what was needed. They were great. They were outstanding on everything.

First off, Rebecca in the office was extremely understanding of my desperation and frustration and she quickly located someone for me. In an time when poor customer service is the norm, her excellent customer service was a welcomed relief and gave me confidence that this company cares about the work they do. Doug did amazing work in freezing temps! He explained everything that he did as he went along. His professionalism is to be commended. All the repairs that needed to be done were completed in a timely manner, and I am very satified with the results: the air is not seeping, the trim is fastened, the door guard is on properly, and the door itself was repaired, now opening and closing normally again. I definitely recommend this company and plan on using them again.

He did an okay job. After the job was complete, I found out I probably paid too much.

David Hughes fixed the drywall on our 2nd floor ceiling due to a leak from the air-conditioner. He did an excellent job making it all blend! David is a real perfectionist and he has an awesome work ethic. It is so refreshing to see someone that has so much pride in his work. He also painted our 2 story living-area. Again, he took great care and did an awesome job. We will definitely use this company again, and specifically ask for David!

They show up time. When they say they will be here they whole day, they are. They haven't broken anything and they clean up after each days work. I rely on their expertise for purchasing the materials.

Today he showed up 15 minutes early, and last time he was also ontime. I was very impressed with that. He got the work done very quickly. The prices were very reasonable. I will continue to use him in the future.

The contractor went the extra mile as far as suggesting fixes for unobvious situations, everything was done professionally, the guy had lots of experience and was familiar with several aspects of home repair and made everything look great.

He was very pleasant and efficient. He did a good job.

I had a list of several things to do around my house. This is the third time I've used the service. They are always prompt and professional. Every task was completed satisfactorily.

Our rental house required loads of general repairs that needed to be quickly done so we could get it leased. I had not contacts in Austin and reached out via Angie's list to Handyman's Connection. Richard was the BEST. From flooring, painting, outside siding repair, installation of blinds, replacing countertops, and more - EVERYTHING they did was of quality work and was obviously professionallly done. They were punctual, did what they said they would (and more) completed the work as promised, cleaned up along the way, but what was really important to us was their constant "long distance" communication. Would I use them again? Without question, I will. I recommend them to EVERYONE. There's a reason every Angie's List review gives them a solid "A" rating. Don't hesitate - give them a call.

I have used Handyman before- and asked for Kevin- who is extremely professional, and honest. On a prior job, Kevin repaired a door that had been damaged by another Company. (They did not know how to install a simple peep hole in my front door.) The damage was so bad, that Kevin had to come up with a custom designed plan to repair the damage. He designed a glass opening that was much better than I could have imagined. He even went with me to buy the correct type of glass. I would call them again, and highly recommend Handyman Connection.

We discovered that our patio french doors were leaking on Tuesday Sept 7. I called Handyman Connection and the earliest they could get here was Wednesday Sept 8. We made the appointment. Stephen arrived on Wednesday...on time...during Tropical Storm Hermine. I was prepared to replace the doors....but I was told the doors were fine...they were just installed incorrectly. This gesture saved me nearly $1000. He called and got a quote and we scheduled the appointment for Wed. Sept 15. I was called on Friday Sept 9 and asked if Monday Sept 13 would be ok. I agreed. Stephen called on his way to notify me of his arrival time. He arrived on time. Stephen was very professional and friendly. He took the time to make sure that it all looked correct to me...I was happy the way the door swung open and closed. We are very happy with the workmanship and the money saved. We will use Handyman connection again and we want to give Stephen the high praise he deserves!

I was able to schedule an appointment quickly and for a time convenient for my schedule. David arrived exactly on time and worked quickly. He did a fantastic job on patching the drywall and did a beautiful job removing and replacing caulk. He also discussed with me my long term project of removing the wallpaper and painting in the master bath. I will very likely call and request David for some of this future project.

Joseph was great. He called on Sunday evening to confirm a Monday appointment and to make sure he was clear on the details of the job. He arrived right on time and looked over all the work to be done. The original bid was $175, but when I saw how efficient he was I added a few tasks (even ran over to Home Depot for another light fixture to install). I ended up spending $250, which I considered very reasonable. In addition, Joseph was personable, patient with my 1962 house quirks, gave lots of free advice, and was fun to have around. Will definitely call on him again.
