Handyman Connection of Austin-Westlake

The first experience I had them them went very well, but the other experiences I had after that did not go well at all. When I called them about it, they just said that they did the work and I needed to pay, regardless of my satisfaction of it. Also, when I had the outlet replaced in the duplex, one of the tenets pointed out some other work that needed to be done, so they just did it, without my authorization, and sent me a bill for it.

Price was a little high for the time it took but not unreasonable. Would definitely call them again!

Sloppy job-the texture was not knockdown and was not sanded properly. I only noticed a month later when I painted the wall it really stood out. I will have to have it redone. I just threw my money away.

The two guys called about 10 minutes before the originally scheduled time to say they were on their way. I showed them the problem areas and received what I believe to be a reasonable cost for the service. They completed the job to my satisfaction.

Was able to schedule him the day I called, which was appreciated. Arrived on time, showed him what needed to be done, and he quickly went to work. Was done within a few hours.

Very fair pricing. Professional service. Not as fast as I would have liked, but overall good finished project and great service.

Kevin was very nice. He came about three days after I called (he was about thirty minutes late, but no big deal), made a lot of really helpful suggestions, and basically told me I'd be better off removing the lead paint myself -- no kids in the house, no pets, and abatement is really expensive. I appreciated his honesty, but asked for the quote anyway, since I have roommates and didn't want to risk their health. He said he'd email me the quote. Instead, this morning (7/23/2012) I received an email from Kevin: "I hope you had a great weekend. I regretfully must decline your request for demoing your kitchen. We have recently decided to not take on projects in which lead paint is present. I apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. I wish you the best of luck with your remodeling project. Have a great day!" I'm not really sure why it took Kevin four days to email me and tell me he wouldn't give me a quote. I'm also not sure why Handyman Connection would suddenly effectively decide not to deal with any houses older then 1978. This seems like a cop-out, particularly in Hyde Park, where nearly everything is older than 1978. Mostly I'm just annoyed that they waited so long to tell me. A simple, "Hey, sorry, we're concerned about the liability" would have been enough.

Kevin Paczosa and his team did a great job on my house. I realized that we might run into more issues than originally scoped and I was right. Kevin and Cullen found issues with a porch covering that was built incorrectly and advised me of possible the possible issues and what it would take to make them right. I will be selling my home in the future and they were always cognizant of that and kept the project within my budget! I highly reccomend this Handyman Connection! My house went from the "Ugly" house on the street to one of the best looking ones! Thanks Kevin and Cullen and Handyman!!

Their service was excellent. One of the guys, who run the company, if not the owner, would come over all the time to check up and made sure all the payments were clear. He was really supportive about the project. He also gave me his number so that I could ask him any questions just for general home repairs. He was a really nice guy.

Contacted provider and was greeted by a professional and courteous woman. Scheduled an inspection with Bill the following day. Bill came out to the house on time and provided a very detailed inspection of my home and suggested several options for the repairs. I recieved a bid in about a week and we settled on exactly what work was going to be performed and exact cost for labor and an estimate for materials. Doug was the carpenter that performed the work. He arrived on time as scheduled and commenced work. He purchased the paint and got a spot on match. Doug finished the carpentry work, caulking and painting in the same day. The work was of very good quality but there was some very minor cosmetic issues that I wanted corrected. One call to Bill and Doug was out the very next day to correct the issues. The bid was on the high side compared to a few others that I recieved; however, the reputation on Angie's List convinced me to go with Handyman Connection. The level of service and attention to the customer were phenomenal and I currently have two more bigger projects scheduled with them. It was a pleasure working with Bill, he works hard to find the right solution that the budget allows. Handyman Connection has a new permanent customer!

Mark arrived on time and reported back to Rene on the one item that was a question mark. Unfortunately, a 2' x 4' piece of the roof was going to have to be totally replaced, with new wood, tar paper and shingles to match our existing roof as closely as possible. Rene estimated that it would probably necessitate Mark coming out another day, and add another $600 or so to our estimate. We gulped hard, but knew it needed to be done. Mark went and got the additional materials and got to work. He went straight through the whole day and finished about 6:00pm. I was surprised, and so was Rene. Mark proudly showed me every job he did and he took pictures so that we could show them to our prospective buyers. While he was up on the roof, he just nailed down anything that was even slightly lifted and then sealed his nail holes. We were very pleased. We were even more pleased when Rene told us that since Mark had been able to complete everything in a day, he was waiving the additional labor cost he had estimated for the roof repair. Handyman Connection would only charge us for the actual materials the job had required. Our final total was within about $100 of Rene's initial estimate and the workmanship was meticulous. Mark obviously takes great pride in what he does and he was a pleasure to have around.We received a final invoice which detailed all of the repairs that had been done, and includes pictures of each job. This will be ideal for presentation to our new buyers.

It went perfect. He repaired it and I was happy with the results. He was here early and got right to work.

Kevin was the project manager. He worked with me to stay on budget and gave options to get it done the best way, while saving money. They did an outstanding job. They got it together for a very fair price in a very short amount of time. I especially appreciated Kevin's attention to detail. He came back after the project was finished to make sure that everything was working and completed, from the faucets to the caulking. They really did a stand-out job! The results are just fantastic--the floor and shower are beautiful! I'd highly recommend them to anyone!

Good overall experience with Doug Baker. Very knowledgeable of all the areas that I need to be fixed. Would use again.

They remodeled my bathroom and did some trim work outside. They finished the details very good. There were some things that were not quite right and he did a good job fixing it and following up. The price was fair for the service provided.

The administrative staff were very courteous and professional. The gentleman showed up at my house promptly, and performed very high quality work. I look forward to using their services again.

He's very personable. He was actually recommended to me by somebody else in my complex. I have no fear of him entering my home. He knows his stuff. He always gives suggestions.

The first installer's work was subpar and was done hapharzardly with no thought to aesthetics. When I gave my feedback to the first installer I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about. On a good note, Handyman was very receptive with my complaint, brought someone else to look at it and agreed that it needed to be redone. My complaint is that it took another 5 visits to get the work completed. There seemed to be a lack of communication between the office staff and the installer on times/availability. The second installer did a very good job and was very courteous. In the end, the job was done to my satisfaction, it just took a lot longer than it should have. Other than the original installer, everyone was very courteous and easy to deal with. I could tell they wanted to do the right thing.

I called Handyman Connection after looking on Angie's List and immediately spoke to a customer service agent about the various repairs we needed. She scheduled a craftsman to come out on Monday, April 9th and said she thought he would be able to finish all of the repairs in a few hours. On Monday, April 9th, Cullen the Craftsman, appeared-on time-to our house and assessed the repairs. He gave us a price quote and we agreed on the price. He started the repairs immediately and even fixed a few items that were not included in our original bid--he definitely went above and beyond. He was extremely professional and finished the tasks at hand. We were so pleased that we immediately scheduled them for other repair projects.

As stated previously, the work was never performed due to lack of follow-through by Handyman Connection. Of course, we will not call them again. Apparently, they are highly overrated.

They were initially supposed to come Wednesday afternoon, but did not make it. They had been in communication so it wasn't too much of a surprise. When we rescheduled the appointment for later in the week, Handyman Connection applied a discount to our price for our troubles earlier in the week. In all, Handyman Connection provided an honest and solid service. My fiance and I are very happy with the results and would not hesitate to use them again for other services. If I could give them a B+ on the rating, I would.

The cooktop we bought was larger than the opening in our tile counter, so the opening needed to be widened. The double oven was slightly smaller, so he also did some carpentry to close a gap that was left under the bottom oven. The person who did the work was very professional and courteous. He also gave us an estimate for additional work to install a vent hood (which we have not yet done). We were pleased with the results and would use them again.

What an incredible experience! This kind and talented man Gerardo immediately assessed the situation, related a detailed plan at the beginning of the week, and completed the job on that Friday. He came up with the PERFECT solution, making all the difference in the world. I'm writing this upstairs on our computer! There are now two railings that actually match, with plenty of room in between them. We feel very blessed to have found Handyman Connection. Thank you so much!
