Description of Work: This company came to the rescue and finished a job someone else started and walked away from. They are great. They screened in my back patio and I love it for the cats and myself!

Description of Work: The swing of the door into an unfinished basement was reversed. The door threshold was replaced and adjusted. Duct work and central vacuum pipes which interfered with the new swing of the door were moved.

Description of Work: Installed 8 new smoke detectors - had to convert prong attachment. Replaced a broken light switch.

Description of Work: The mortor was cracking around the fireplace and Cullen removed and replaced it.

Description of Work: Initial visit Dec 19, then Dec 27, then Dec ?, fourth/last Jan 30 Asked for plumbing service that could give a firm estimate for installing single handle valve and trim (which I had already purchased) into a double shower. The challenge was minimizing the damage to the 25 yr old shower tile and having a water tight and attractive shower interior with the updated finish and type of shower handle-valve. A minor item was releveling a toilet that was rocking. The initial call to HC and the plumber call to set an appointment was quick, prompt and would receive an A rating. The initial visit by the plumber was very positive as he suggested staying with the two handle old style controls and just put in the brushed nickel trim on the parts for the 2 handle valve and avoid the $2000 worth of tile repair-replacement. On the first visit the toilet was leveled and no longer rocks. The second visit was not successful as the plumber had the wrong internal parts but more importantly could not provide the brushed nickel finish for a 25 yr old valve set (Delta- not made in China). I felt an obligation to have the plumber do more than a toilet leveling for his coming out ftwice so I said to come back and put in new guts of the controls, not remembering thinking this was half the cost of the almost a $500 job for replacing parts for controls that worked OK now. The original major point was upgrading the finish in the shower to the finish throughout the bathroom and the house. The third visit resulted in the new guts installed in the controls but the operation of the controls was backwards or half backwards on both showers, respectively. Several calls to the plumber and then HC finally resulted in the plumber coming out a fourth time and spending 10 minutes to correctly set the operation of the cartridge. At the fourth visit I asked for the valve parts numbers so I could do my own parts finding and final trim assembly as there were options to get the trim updated but because the plumber could not get a set straight from Delta it was deemed unworkable for them to do it. After another couple of weeks and calls/emails to the plumber and HC, the plumber called with the valve parts numbers (these numbers were what they used to order the parts they replaced in the controls so if they plumber kept any records it should have been a matter of looking up the job parts invoice and reading them off to me).

Description of Work: I've used Handyman Connection twice. Once for adding sheetrock and painting and once for cutting vents into a water heater closet. Both experiences were positive. The individuals who came were punctual, professional and completed the work requested.

Description of Work: Replace back door and rotting wood (I ordered the door). Installed garage attic ladder. Repaired some drywall. Caulked outside of house and inside tub are. Faucet replacement.

Description of Work: I had birds getting down the chimney chase (in between the flue and outside wall - they were basically getting stuck in between the walls and dying) and needed someone to put mesh up on the vent to keep it clear, but it is up 20 feet on the roof. It was a quick job, but I am not willing to get up that high to do it.

Description of Work: I had The Handyman Connection installed new door and locks for both my front door and back door. Theses were also commercial steel security doors and high security locks. All doors including door jams were painted and jams were also re-enforced. I had an outer rear storm door also installed

Description of Work: I wanted to fix broken hinges on the door. The Handyman found an easy solution for this problem and helped me save a ton of money.

Description of Work: We had what is probably an unusual experieince with Handyman Connection. Everything went very well, from making the first telephone contact to the visit itself. The only thing is, what we wanted was a sort of jerryrigged job and Handyman Connection doesn't do jerryrigged! They do it right or they don't do it. And since all of us had planned our day around the time it would have taken to do the jerryrigged thing, we couldn't go ahead and have the gentleman do it the right way at that time because there wasn't enough time. So Handyman Connection will still work for us for the agreed-upon and paid-for length of time, but it won't be the job we first had in mind and we will have to reschedule, which we haven't done yet. Does that make any sense?

Description of Work: I had the representative from Handyman Connection come give me an estimate for replacing a window. He said he would do it the following week, but he never called or came back to complete the work. He was not sure that he would even be able to do the job, but instead of calling to find a different serviceman or just telling me he did not want the job, he just never showed up or contacted us again.

Description of Work: Installed an attic access ladder in the garage.

Description of Work: He fixed a toilet, leaky shower head, hooks in the walls, hole in the wall, and installed carbon monoxide detectors. He was efficient. I would use him again if the hourly rate wasn't so high. It was two hours for about $50 which was a deal. The regular rate was $65 an hour.

Description of Work: We had some gutters that had to be replaced; they took the old ones down. We didn't want new gutters so we did not have them replace them. They did replace some wood and repainted the wood under the gutters where it had rotted.
