PEGASUS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

I was a tenant in a property managed by Pegasus Property Management. I moved in October of 2005. I had financial hardships and had to move out of town back in with my family. I spoke with Kelly at Pegasus and she left me instructions that included to send them a letter stating that I am moving out with my forwarding address with the keys and put it in the realtor lock box that they never removed from my door. I went back home to San Antonio to start moving. I came back to Houston to the condominium and they had cleared out everything I had left in there. They took the keyboard to my Apple IMac, they took my stereo and several CDs, they took my Christmas tree, my toilet paper, and everything else left in the unit. There was no sign of forced entry so it had to be someone who had a key. I never gave a copy of my key to anyone so it had to be them. I left my forwarding address and the key in the lockbox like I was instructed and left. I found out that my friends sister purchased that condo because the owner had died and is now the current owner. They were supposed to have disclosed that to me. If I had known this, I could've easily arranged a payment plan with the current owner to stay. A few years later, there were two entries on my credit report that totaled around $8,000. I reported this to the Better Business Bureau. I was able to get one of the listings removed. They charged me for the remainder of the lease term even though the owner did not own the property during the whole duration of my lease. I brought this up and the BBB of Houston tried to mediate. Kelly, who I had dealt with before was very abusive in the back and forth discussion. She told me that they had turned over a check of mine and there was a warrant out for my arrest. I had not known about this in the whole 3-5 years. They said if I paid them what they claimed I owed they would have the warrant removed. They kept asking me to come to Houston to arbitrate the dispute. I know this is because they wanted to have me arrested when I stepped foot in Harris County. I contacted the Justice of the Peace Precinct 8 and found out that the check for $400 was returned to them so I paid the Justice of the peace for the check and had it removed. I forwarded evidence of this to Pegasus. I was even going to try to negotiate a settlement with them until Kelly referred to me in the record as a "felon" which is not true. That check would be a misdemeanor and I was not told that it was turned over. I have decided to not pursue legal action since there is only a limited time this can go against me. I am sharing this review to keep others from getting into my situation.
