+ -1 moreI did use him for a little while. If I were to scale it on 1-10, I'd probably give him a 5. It was one of my rental properties, or a couple of my rental properties actually. It was a turnaround on a rental property. I don't have anything bad to say about him, it's just that I found a much better handyman that can do plumbing work. Dennis was a little bit slow on responding. I like my contractors to at least be able to text or email, all of the above, and he really doesn't do any. He's an older generation. When I'm an investor and have many properties, I don't have time to pick up the phone and call everybody. It's a lot faster to text. The quality was great. I might use him again, but actually probably no. I just hired a different handyman because my one handyman is getting married this week. I probably won't use him again.
Description of Work: He did some light sheet rock work and just some general repair work like repairing some toilets and stuff like that.

Description of Work: Patched drywall in family room ceiling / replaced outside door at the rear of the garage. The drywall person Dennis used decided when and if he was going to show up to work. I took time off of work to be there. Some days he wouldn't show up at all and others he would get there in the afternoon. No one ever called me to tell me when he was coming. I complained to Dennis but all he ever said was to agree that the guy kind of did his own thing...but that when he did work, he usually did a good job. Finally, Dennis called for payment and the drywall hadn't been painted. Dennis had to come out and finish the job.I was disappointed in the worker disappearing for a couple of days at a time and I was more disappointed in Dennis that he seamed unaware of what was going on until I told him. I should not have been the project manager on the job, but I felt like I was.

+ -1 moreHe is very honest. His prices are fair and he does a professional job. He is always on time and will call ahead. I would definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: He removed a vent fan that was broken in the bathroom. He recut the ceiling and put in a new fan. There were stain marks above the shower and he was able to put stain cover on it and then he painted the entire ceiling. He filled in cracks that were near the shower and the toilet and painted the walls after he filled them in. He also put two wind ventilators up on the roof.

Description of Work: Dennis is sure a nice man, but after picking him from a list of 4 other painters we are very disappointed. We spent quite a bit of time and energy lining him up, going over details, paint colors, and solidifying our plan and on the second day of the job he called to quit saying the job was just too big for him and that he could not line up the crew he needed. | |This is not a review of his work skills, but of his business skills.

+ -1 moreI live in a double wide mobile home and under pinning is the skirting around the bottom. I had someone give me an estimate 2 or 3 years back, and his estimate was 1,500, so Dennis' price wasn't so much more, and he showed up when he said he would. They were doing that work during the Texas summer when it was 100 degrees. They did knock off around noon when it got really hot, so the job took 4 working days, but I didn't expect them to work whole day long. They did a very good job, I was pleased with the finished project. The price was for material and labor, and they gave me a senior citizen's discount.
Description of Work: We used Dennis Wood Construction. He removed the old under pinning and replace it with handy board.

+ -1 moreIt didn't go well. I was never able to meet the man. I got a run around after scheduling an appointment. Not very professional.
Description of Work: I contacted this company mainly due to the reviews on Angies List about punctuality. To me punctuality is VERY important, as I do not have time to waste waiting on somebody. On my first contact the person I spoke with was more interested in telling me what he didn't do, as opposed to all he can do. I was not impressed. Even though I was still interested in trying him out, as I have a lot of work that needs to be completed. So, I scheduled an appointment for the next day for him to view the job I had available. He then calls me the next day wanting to re-schedule his time to visit with me, and then tells me he is going to be tied up for a couple weeks. He knew the job was on a rental property that I have, and time was of the essence to get it ready to rent once again. I have been through this same type of run around before from other contractors, so I simply have a bad taste in my mouth over this. What he doesn't know, is I have a large inventory of rental properties and has now missed out on many thousands of dollars of jobs annually.

+ 3 moreOur experience with Dennis was excellent. He was on time for our initial appointment which is a good sign. He was able to do everything we asked him to do and then some. Dennis is not only a painter - he can build, fix or remodel. He is completely trustworthy. Once Dennis starts one job he stays with that job until finished. He even worked over the 4th of July on our project. As the job progressed I kept finding more things for him to do that I had not thought of when we originally asked for his bid. Dennis never said no and he cheerfully put up with me and my ideas. I do not hesitate to recommend Dennis and would definitely hire him again.

+ 1 moreThey are very good, punctual and honest workers. I have been very pleased with them. They are very reasonable in their charges. They could have made a lot of money of the paint since they have a contractors discount but they did not do that. I would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Dennis Wood Construction to paint the interior and exterior of my house as well as to replace some wood in the siding. They perform both residential and commercial work.
