I've had a very good experience using Bantex. Terry has been excellent to work with and his subs have all done good work. I had a laundry room added including plumbing being moved and all the work was well done. In fact I'm having him start a new project now ( remodeling kitchen ) and probably a bathroom in the future too. I had Bantex bid the job based on the reviews here on A.L. and now am happy to add my experience for the rest of you. Like any contractor that is worthwhile, they stay busy.

The house was built in 1974 and needed quite a bit of work. Terry was prompt in giving me a quote (actually the only one that came though). The work started around the end of October and the majority was finished by Christmas Eve. It was a long process but he kept things moving and kept me informed along the way. The subs were all extremely courteous and professional and they all seemed to take a lot of pride in their work. It was my busy season at work and it was really nice to be able to trust Terry and his crews to take care of business without excessive involvement on my part. The house looks fantastic and came in under budget! I would be comfortable recommending Terry to anyone that needed remodel work done on their home.

We had several contractors come out and look at the job. Did not hear back from any of them. Terry came out on a Saturday morning to look at the job. A couple of days later I had a quote from him. We set up a date to start; his crew showed up right on time and did the tear out and framing the first day. Crew showed up the next day to put in the new door and opener. The were done by lunch time. Everything went very smooth. Terry did what he said he would do, the way he said he would do it, no messing around. Great job.
Description of Work: I have an older house in Hurst that needed the two garage door setup changed to a large single door. Terry came out to look at it and followed up with a qoute a few days later. He and his crew showed up on time and did great work! The whole job took about a day and a half from start to finish. I would recommend him to anyone. I will have him come back soon to put on a new roof for me.

Bantex Construction added a room to my home. What once was a patio/deck area is now a craft room/studio worthy of being spotlighted in a Creative Spaces magazine. I love it. The experience working with Terry and the people he lined up to do the remodel was great. The room progressed quickly (even with Christmas holidays and winter weather!) and I simply can't say enough about the professionalism and quality I received. This was my first remodeling experience and I must say that it was relatively "pain-free'! Terry made some great suggestions about things I hadn't even thought about that made my new space even more special. The addition looks like it was built with the original home construction and is my favorite room in the house. I highly recommend Bantex Construction. Oh, and the best part? The quote was spot-on and the only budget addition was the cost of the inspection fees and licenses. Great job, Terry!! Thank you so much! (Can I keep Jose the painter!?) HA!
Description of Work: Room addition, which included tying into existing roof line, installation of sky light "tubes", electrical, painting, staining a concrete floor, removing existing windows and sheet rocking over two of them and making a door from the other. Lovely concrete "moon steps" out the back door. Routing a/c, heating to the room.

I called several contractors to provide a bid to tear down an existing garage and rebuild a new garage and connect it to another out building. I eventually received 3 estimates, including one from Bantex. I decided to go with another contractor at first but that contractor backed out after I began asking questions about his estimate. I contacted Terry after several months since receiving the estimate and he was still interested. Terry was very easy to work with and he was able to keep up with my steady stream of questions which I appreciated. I'm very satisfied with the finished product and it looks great. Terry and his team were very easy to work with and Terry is always accessible. I plan to use Terry again.

Terry Banta responded promptly to our initial call. He provided suggestions for our project and prepared an initial estimate, followed by a formal proposal. He handled the permit process, including preparation of detailed drawings required by the city of Arlington. Our timeline has taken longer than we expected caused almost completely to our travel and work schedules. Terry has been very patient and often had to balance our fractured schedule with his contractors. Most importantly, the work has been of SUPERIOR quality - I wish our house (built in 1997) was of equal quality. Several instances of his standards: matching the exterior facade for the new room > the original brick on our house was a special single fire issue - impossible to make an exact match. Since part of our design was to leave the old exterior brick wall exposed in the new room and to affect a transition of the old brick with the new on the exterior, Terry took down the old brick from the interior wall in the new room, cleaned the bricks and blended the old and new bricks on the exterior in such a way as the difference is so subtle it cannot be detected. Since the interior brick wall does not abut the exterior brick, one cannot tell that it was not the original brick. Newly stained concrete flooring did not meet his critical eye (we thought it looked great), so it was re-sealed to his standards. We even change our mind on the ceiling style after the framers completed their job. We did not demand a change, but to make sure we were satisfied customers, Terry had the framer re-build the ceiling (from flat to panned). We changed our plans for an outside storage building to a storage/activity room (requiring insulation, wiring, A/C, additional finishing) so Terry is still working with us (and waiting for me to order the air/heat and lighting). We also added painting and minor refinishing to the room that adjoins the new room - this was not part of the original plan. Again, our delay not his. Terry is very accessible - even during the holidays and at night, he promptly responds to our calls and request. We are very proud of our additions and have complete faith in Terry Banta as a general contractor.

The project began with the contact and estimate for the work needed to be done. This was done with mutual trust of the contractor which gave an estimate of the approximate value. It was disclosed from the beginning, that the project would not be much over the estimate and may be less if the situation turned out to be so. The agreement was verbal and the work was done as expected and the cost was not more than the estimate. This was a pleasant experience and my brother and I are very satisfied with the work and the contractor. The work was done as expected. Thank you.

I had an excellent experience with Terry. I interviewed three differnet general contrators to do the work. Terry was prompt in getting back to me to schedule a walkthru. Terry brought his electrical and paint subcontractors with him when we discussed the work. I gave Terry a detailed package of how I wanted things done and we walked through it step by step. I appreciated his attention to detail. I was pressed for time, trying to gte in house by early january and the holiday season looming. Terry was good at getting his bid back in less than a week. His bid was the best that I got. Based on that, my meeting with Terry and his excellent reviews on Angies List I chose Bantex Construction to do the work. This ended up be a reall good choice!!! His electrical contractor was outstanding. Very professional and worked with me every step of the way. The installation of all the recessed lights and fans went without a hitch. When they left the house was spotless. His painting contractor was outstanding as well. She came to my house on short notice so I could finalize all the paint colors, sheens etc. before she started the work. The job was done professionally and afterwards I did not have any items for her to fix, that is rare. Terry was very easy to work with and always responded to my phone calls or emails promptly. As a matter a fact when the job started he was on a short vacation but still coordinated his contractors and took my calls. When Terry returned he fell ill. I happened to call him and he answered his phone while in an ambulance on way to hospital! Glad to say Terry is doing fine! We wrapped up the project the first week of January and now I am ready to live in my new home. I will use Bantex Construction for future projects and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: I bought a 2000 sq ft house in Grand Prairie recently but wanted to do some remodel work done first. I had the following work performed: (1) Installed 36 recessed lights (2) Installed 11 new dimmer and rocker switches. Replaced ~15 rocker switches. (3) Installed 3 new ceiling fans and replace two others. (4) Dry Wall work to patch areas that had cracks, where old lighting was removed etc. (5) Painted the entire interior (all rooms, all closets) of the house multiple colors.

Over a year ago we discovered that our upstairs balcony was becoming detached from the house and appeared to be falling down. We started researching - trying to find a contractor. We contacted 2 different ones. One never came. The other came out and gave us an estimate of about $25,000.00 leaving an unknown cost for internal damage. But, he stopped talking to us when he found out insurance would not cover the repair of the problem. I had heard about Angie's List. So, I joined. Luckily for us, back in July, 2012, Bantex Construction was featured. I read all the testaments. So, my husband gave Terry Banta a call. We were told right away that he was interested but busy. He kept us informed of our time line constantly. He always called to make sure bringing someone out to survey problem was OK. He always came with each crew - carpentry, metal work, EIFS people. After getting all his "ducks" in a row, we met with Terry on August 30, 2012 to get the estimate - $16,777.00 - leaving an unknown cost for internal damage. Although the job could not be started right away, Terry kept us informed every step of the way. The job was done in sections. We first had the demolition. We were extremely lucky. There was very little internal damage. They only had to shore up the structure in places. The real problem was with the balcony that was removed. The carpenters that built the new patio cover did an excellent job. They duplicated the front patio cover exactly. We added some cost because the front patio roof was not put on properly. So, since the carpenters, metal contractor, and EIFS were all here doing their thing out back, we had them repair and fix the front roof at the same time. I was really worried about the EIFS repair. But, I worried for nothing. The patch work repair looks good. The only thing left now is for the dry wall man and inside finisher carpenter to come in next week to repair inside of bedroom. My husband and I will be doing the staining and painting. This was not included in the original estimate. Terry would give us an estimate for that, but we decided to do it ourselves. Working with Terry Banta and his professional crews restored my faith in construction jobs. We have more remodeling projects to do in the future and Terry Banta and his Bantex Construction Inc will be our choice for the upcoming jobs. The one thing we did learn from this experience is to not assume anything. If you think something is going to be done, ask about it before hand. Make sure what you want done is actually written up in the description. Changes will occurr with any project. Luckily for us, we had Terry Banta as our contractor! Elaine and Larry Blumer
Description of Work: Remove balcony. Remove upstairs outside bedroom door. Replace with picture window. Tear out EIFS to repair any water damage. Build a newly constructed back covered patio to look like front covered patio. Bring in a metal work contractor to fix flashing on front of existing roof plus put on new metal roof in back. Bring in EIFS experts to repair EIFS in all affected areas. Bring in drywall carpenter and wood worker to repair inside bedroom.

Terry was a little slow on sending an estimate, called and apoligized, and asked if he was too late. He was told no and he stated he would email the estimate by Wednesday evening. The email arrive before promised Tuesday afternoon to my corporate email Junk mailbox and I did not see it until Terry called and affirmed he sent it as he said he would. The estimate was well within what I was willing to pay however, I hired another contractor because I did not see Terry's estimate.

After the house was hit by the tornado I did not know where to start. .It was recommended that I get a General Contractor because there was so much that had to be done. I did not know how to even start to find a General Contractor. One of my co-workers suggested I look on angie's list before hiring anyone. I found Bantex construction on Angie's list . When I called Bantex I spoke with the Owner Terry. I explained my situation. He met me at the house the next morning. I had a lot of questions and concerns. Terry was very patient and pleasant. He spent a great deal of time explaining how the whole process worked and gave me all his contact numbers. At this point I had not received the insurance appraisel and estimate. No work could start until I received that or the insurance would not pay. Terry had everyone lined up and ready to start ionce i received the estimate. I received it on Monday afternoon. The roof was on my house tuesday, and the windows were measured and ordered. I was very impressed how every thing was ready to go without receiving any money. Through out the whole process of restoring my house Terry was very engaged. I spoke with him everyday on the progress of the house. He did not seem to mind that I also called him frequently with questions and concerns.Terry came and inspected all the work after each project completed. On many occasions he would have them come back to fix or adjust things that I thought were okay. I was very confident it would be done correctly because he made sure it was. I really enjoyed working with Terry. I am very happy with all the work done on my house. I would definately use him again.
Description of Work: My Home was hit by a tornado on 04/03/2012. I had extensive damage to my Home, pool and shed and fence.I had the roof replaced. All the windows replaced. All gutters and soffetts were replaced. Brick work done. Wall and ceiling repair. Some flooring also replaced. I also had two doors replaced. My shed was rebuilt. The pool was resurfaced from tree damage. Heat/air conditioning repair. Entire wood fence replaced and two Vinyl gates.

Bantex Construction came in on budget and on time. He was excellent at communicating with me as to what he was going to be working on and the time frame in which the work would be completed. We were very happy with Bantex Construction and Terry. I have a bathroom and kitchen that I would like to remodel in the future, and he is the contractor that I?m going to call first.
Description of Work: Terry Banta and his team did an outstanding job on our 1938 home remodel. I found him to be honest, trustworthy, and very professional. He has a vast knowledge of construction and was quick to respond to all of our questions. In addition, he always followed up to make sure all work was preformed satisfactorily. We bought a home that had a sunroom and porch enclosed. The work was not done properly, so we contracted Terry from Bantex Construction to remove and rebuild an exterior wall, replace the sheetrock throughout the house (where paneling was used), level a sunroom floor (which was now part of the breakfast room), add new hardwood floors, refinish the existing hardwood floors, do extensive wiring work, install a tankless hot water heater, replace all windows and doors, make some repairs to broken ceramic tile, repair the texture throughout the house, install a gas line for an outdoor grill, build a closet in a bedroom that did not have one, replace some light fixtures, and make some repairs to bead board. In addition, he was able to sheetrock over the exterior brick wall that was now our breakfast room, so the house looks cohesive. He added some new electrical outlets in our garage and leveled the garage floor. I am sure that I missed something, as he did all phases of construction work on our house.

I petitioned several contractors for the work and Terry Banta (Bantex Construction) was the best choice. We were near the closing date of our home and I had a very small window to schedule contractor visits for this work. All of the contractors were A rated on Angie's List. They arrived around the same time and, on hearing my work request, they walked off and talked among themselves. An hour later they left the property without providing me any feedback about the work request. Three of the contractors said they would, "Get back to me." But the fourth, Terry, did not walk with the group. He took me around the house and pointed out the issues and challenges associated with the work. Before he left he said it was something he could do, and that he would provide me a quote within the week. The following week the three other 'contractors' (whom I will not name as they don't deserve the additional recognition) said they couldn't do the job. One honestly stated that it was above his ability, which I respected, but the other two offered not explanation as to why they could not, or did not want the job. They just said they "declined". I suspect I might have hurt their feelings because I was searching for creative remodeling ideas and competitive pricing. Note to self: If you want more than one fair contractor quote - if you can - schedule them on different dates and times. It seems they're not fond of competition. As for Terry, he came back with a very fair quote and a reasonable timeline. Unfortunately, the City of Southlake permit office wasn't as cooperative and renovations were delayed by several weeks, but once work got going things went rather smoothly, including all the follow-on city inspections. Overall, Terry and his team were very professional, courteous and friendly. At times he may have put too much trust in the independent actions of his tradesmen, but I understand he can't sit on them all day. You have to trust your tradesmen to represent your business, and Terry always took full responsibility for their actions - which is something I respect immensely. I say this because not all his tradesman posssessed the same attention to detail that I do. However, Terry's attention was always there. Bantex Construction did excellent work, and I stand by them as a recommendation. I'll use them again.

Removal and storage of shower glass enclosure pieces. Removal of ceramic tile counter tops to be replaced with marble counter tops and new vanity sinks. Replaced ceramic floor tiles with travertine. Replaced ceramic shower tiles with matching travertine tiles. The contractor built an in-shower bench to support the re-tasking of original shower glass and also topped it with a matching marble surface. Attic conversion 1: This task included converting a 12x10 foot attic space into a climate controlled storage closet. The job required the removal of a hot-water heater and the installation of a new tankless unit in the upper attic. The room required decking, framing, AC ducting, insulation, sheet rock, a textured finish, shelving, painting, and carpet. Attic conversion 2: This task included converting a 15x18 foot attic space into storage space. The job required the installation of a load-bearing floor. When the first contractor that we hired took our money and then ended up in jail (domestic issues), Terry came in and picked up the job and ran with it. Our initial contractor had taken $20,000.00 from us and all we got were 7 windows, a door, and the concrete pad dug and rebar put in. After waiting for weeks for him to get back on the job, we were recommended Bantex Construction to finish the job. He started the job on July 3 and the last of the electrical was finished up on Sept. 11. We couldn't be happier with the job.
Description of Work: Did a sunroom, with faulted ceiling and skylights, and had a bedroom expanded into a master bedroom. Also had the entire roof replaced . Ceiling fans installed, and complete central heat and air. All work was done in a very timely manner. Was always notified when workers would be here. We are very happy with the job done by Terry Banta and his crew. Very courteous. Would recommend this company to everyone.

I contacted Bantex Construction and a few other GCs to get bids for remodeling my home. Terry Banta, with Bantex Construction, came out on a Saturday to look at the project, which was completely awesome because I didn?t have to take time off of work to meet with him. As we walked through the house I described the changes I had in mind. Terry listened carefully to my ideas, made some suggestions, asked pertinent questions and pointed out the areas that required structural modifications. We set a date for him to return with his sub-contractors for a pre-bid walk through of the job. On the designated date, I met with Terry and a small army of subs (electrical, plumbing, painting, sheet rock, framing, carpentry, and materials suppliers - windows, doors & trim and building materials). This was really nice because I was able to meet all the people who would be working on my property. We all walked the job and everyone took notes and asked questions on specifics. When the bids came in, I felt they were very reasonable and so I decided to award the project to Bantex Construction. All during the project, Terry stayed in contact with me. If I ever needed him, I knew he was just a phone call away. Honestly, we mostly discussed scheduling because the subs did such a great job. Each was a true professional and considered their work a craft. Great care was taken to keep the construction debris cleared and everyone was so considerate of the fact that I was in residence during the remodel. Terry was such a pleasure to work with; his honesty and integrity are beyond reproach! I had such a great experience that I am already planning a few more projects for Bantex Construction now that the major project is complete.
Description of Work: Every room in the house was altered during this remodel - it was really quite a large project. The work included: removing a load bearing wall; creating new openings in 2 load bearing walls; ; replacing existing windows and adding new windows, including brickwork for an enlarged window; relocating doors and closing up door openings; adding a new attic access and stair and replacing an existing attic stair; Electrical work which included replacing all the light fixtures, switches and outlets, as well as adding new outlets, light fixtures and ceiling fans; HVAC work to relocate return air and perform routine maintenance; Plumbing work to replace all hose bibs on exterior of house; Drywall work to repairing cracks caused by foundation issues, scraping popcorn texture from all the ceilings, re-texturing the ceilings and walls; Carpentry work for installing all new baseboards, cased openings and trim, and replacing all the doors (interior and exterior) - I also had a rail hung door (barn door) installed which was a first for the carpenter - it turned out wonderfully; and finally, Painting work which included all the ceilings, walls, trim, baseboards and interior doors, as well and staining the new entry door.

His crew was friendly, considerate, and professional (Bob the framer was particularly nice to work with and did a fantastic job). When the scope of work changed Terry refunded the cost of materials that were not needed. Terry was great on follow-up before, during, and after the work and returned all calls promptly. I would use Bantex again and strongly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I just purchased new home that had interior "Santa Fe" decor with wood posts and beams I wanted removed. This required removing ceiling headers, re-framing doorways, replacing some wood beams, adding rounded corners, and adding sheetrock and texture to part of the ceiling and doorways.

I had an overall good experience with Bantex Construction. It was surprising when his team of 4 people showed up to fix my door. There was a lot of concern that the door be fixed properly because it was glass and this was a daycare with kids going in and out of it. I really appreciated the concern and that he had a team of double checkers - meaning he had people that checked the checkers that checked the checkers, and then he showed up to check all the checkers. lol Thanks for a job well done!
Description of Work: At my daycare center, my glass entrance door hardware broke; causing the door to have no resistance and to slam . I immediately contacted Angie's list and found Bantex Construction Company in my area. Mr. Banta came within the hour. He gave me a free estimate. At first I thought his price was a little high, but after getting a few more estimates, I found that Bantex Construction's price was fair and lower than their competitors. I called Mr. Banta back to come fix my door. His team of workers showed up later that day and fixed my door perfectly.

Bantex was very responsive to my request for an estimate. Was on time for scheduled appointment. Discussed what I wanted to achieve from the project. Asked thoughtful questions and made sensible suggestions. Provided a written quote by email within 72 hours. Project actually came in $280 less than quote. Mr Banta brought framing, materials and roofing subcontractors to site ahead of project start to insure they new exactly what I wanted. I was able to ask and answer questions before the project began. The only hitch in the project was that the materials were delivered later than scheduled which delayed the start of the project by a few hours. All subcontractors were professional and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. I would recommend and use Bantex for future projects.
Description of Work: Built roof over existing patio approximately 12' x 24'. Tied into existing structure to appear it was part of original construction. Matched existing shingles and gutters. Ran electrical wiring for outlet and ceiling fan.

Member Comments: The existing ceiling in the garage had begun to sag, as it was framed with 2x4 joists, and I had stored too much stuff in the attic. The existing sheetrock was cracking, and the roof was also sagging. I received two bids from Angie's list contractors, and planned to get more. But we were so impressed with Terry's knowledge during the bid process, that we selected him. Also, his bid was very competitive, and in line with our budget. Terry was clear on his pricing for labor and materials. He took the time to answer ALL my many questions. His crew was efficient and kept me informed of the progress of the job. The project was completed in the agreed time frame, and the attention to detail was excellent. We have two other projects to do later this year, and we will ask Terry to bid on those as well.
Description of Work: Description of Work: For a two car garage, replaced the existing ceiling joists and some framing. Added insulation to walls. Added OSB board as wall covering. Raised and re-enforced the roofing trusses. Converted two single car garage door openings to a single two car opening. Installed new garage door and opener. Replaced door leading from garage to back yard.

I had interviewed 6 contractors that I had found via other online services, church bulletin, friends, etc. One told me the job couldn't be done (re: closet to half bath conversion). Two never got back to me. Two had an initial bid that was $17,000 and $20,000. Then, finally, there was one that we liked and we were going to go with him but before putting our names on the dotted line, I decided to google the contractor I thought we were going to go with. To my surprise, I couldn't find anything on them! That worried me. It was then I decided to join Angie's List to see if I could find them on there. I didn't find them, but I found Terry. I read the reviews and saw that he was or had done work in my area and so I figured - what was one more bid. I emailed Terry. I heard from him via email right away. We met the next day. He looked over everything and said he would like to come back with his crew. What a crew! They showed up 2 days later and there must have been 15 people in my house. They were all nice, respectful - they obviously have a lot of respect for Terry and vice versa. We could all communicate easily with each other. It was at this time that I figured we would use him even if the bid came back at $20,000. Suddenly, I could tell the difference between the first 6 people I contacted and Terry. So- within a short period of time, less than a week - he gets back to me with a bid - $13,000-give or take. I was floored. He was the second LOWEST bid. We jumped on that and he started the work the day after we signed the contract. We had 5 weeks from closing day to our move in - Terry got it done. My house was clean and ready for us on move in day, as promised! Now, we hit some snags along the way. But, what was most impressive to me was that Terry always had a solution. And, he was always very mindful that a change in plan did mean the price was going to go up. For example, when they did the demo in the closet, they were expecting sheetrock, but instead we had plaster. That took a little more time than expected. In installing the new bedroom, we hit a snag in trying to get ventilation to it. Terry came up with an awesome idea of hiding duct work within a plant ledge. It gave the living room some architectural detail and the boys new room has proper ventilation. As we were working with electrical, they made suggestions about how to do the closet lighting and we added grounded/ dedicated (?) outlets for the computers with data lines. His electrician even made my electrical gate work when another contractor could not! So - here is how it went. The original bid was $13,000 + we would directly buy some of the supplies, such as the tankless water heater, vanity, mirror, lighting, toilet, tile, grout - those supplies cost about $2000. Then, with the changes and surprises we ran into, that was about another $2000. Our budget was $20,000 -so while Terry thought we were over budget, we felt like we were under and everyone is amazed at how awesome everything looks. Really just an A+ job from start to finish. This was my first remodeling project and I think I have been spoiled. If Terry cannot help you right now and you can wait - it is worth the wait. He and his people know what they are doing and they do a fabulous job. You will LOVE all of his subcontractors. You will love the service you are given. You will love your home. I already have a growing list of things I want to do next year and Terry is definitely the person for me.
