A1 Concrete Customer Review SAVE YOURSELVES A HUGE HEADACHE AND FRUSTRATION AND NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY! A1 Concrete has proven to be an extremely unreliable, inept company to deal with, I would highly recommend you think twice before ever hiring these irresponsible guys to step foot on your property, and here is why. 1. Consistently late showing up to job site. 2. Some days they did not show up at all after making promises to arrive in an hour, on multiple occasions. 3. They would show up late in the day, one time we turned them away and asked them to start early the next day because it was too late and would disturb us and our neighbors from all the noise, the next day they showed up late again. 4. Did not come to jobsite prepared at all. 5. Did not even show up with their own wheelbarrow, what concrete company does not even have their own wheelbarrow, seriously. 6. They used our wheelbarrow without even asking permission. 7. Extremely disorganized. 8. Blatantly lied to us, told us he was late because he was picking up rebar, then finally shows up late, again and had no rebar at all. Then needed to leave the jobsite again to pick up rebar, again getting back late to jobsite. 9. Signed contract specifically stated they would use ½” rebar spaced out at 12” off center, they did not do that, and we had to ask them to fix it because that was what was submitted to city inspector, they were supposed to follow what was agreed upon and submitted to the city for inspection. You are not allowed to deviate from what is submitted to the city after submission. 10. They used some plywood pieces we had in the back yard without asking permission. 11. They tried to collect money up front prior to completing any work, what reputable company does that. 12. The contract clearly stated they must invoice us after each milestone was completed, we had to insist on them sending an invoice and that we had 30 days to pay post milestones as per the contract. 13. They argued with us that the spacing of the rebar would be fine, but we called the city, and we were told they cannot deviate from what was submitted for city inspection. 14. A bit of a know-it-all attitude, my husband is a journeyman carpenter with over 40 years of experience and knowledge, so smug, arrogant, and dumb to think this young lad knows more than my husband. 15. The contract looked like something they grabbed from the web, and tried to tweak it for their company purposes, but left a different company name in the contract that had nothing to do with A1 Concrete, careless and sloppy with drafting the contract. 16. They told us they needed money to pay for the bags of concrete because they could not afford to spot that cost up front themselves, seriously living on the edge much. 17. They were terrible at responding to calls and text messages and at times totally blew us off. 18. They caused my husband to have to cancel a couple of appointments because they said they would show up and never did, and never bothered to tell us why. 19. They are not trustworthy to keep their word on ANYTHING. 20. They would leave the jobsite for hours and not let us know where they were at or when they would return, or they would give lip service they would be back shortly, and never show up the rest of the day, causing serious project delays. 21. We needed time for concrete to set and cure before our shed was installed, we will barely make that mark due to their lack of preparation, irresponsible work ethic, and extremely poor work schedules. 22. SHOW UP ON TIME, KEEP YOUR WORD, DON’T LIE TO THE CUSTOMER, COMMUNICATE RESPECTFULLY, DON’T HAVE A KNOW-IT-ALL ATTITUDE, AND GET YOUR BUTT TO WORK AT A REASONABLE HOUR!!!! 23. It should have never taken this long to finally get the concrete poured and all because they continually screwed around and did not show up multiple days or showed up so late, they got limited work done. 24. They also tore down the old shed as part of the contract, and in the process, they broke the PVC electrical pipe that fed electricity to the shed. My husband now must dig down to repair the PVC pipe, so water does not leak into the electrical conduit. They did not even mention it to my husband, nor did they apologize. 25. My husband told them to bring their own wheelbarrow next time they came to the jobsite on concrete pour day, guess what they did not listen, and again assumed it was okay to use our equipment, again without asking permission. 26. And finally, we reached out to A1Concrete the same day we received our final city inspection on 09-16-2024 and prior to our final payment being due, to let them know right away we could now pay them the remaining balance owed to them per the contract. After sending a text to the Gerardo Montoya, general manager, my husband received a phone call from Gerardo Montoya asking if he could come over that evening, it was already late in the evening so we told him no, you can come over tomorrow before noon to pick up your check. Then apparently the owner of A1 Concrete called and also asked if he could come over to pick up the check the same evening, again we said no that Gerardo Montoya had already called and he was instructed to show up before noon the next day to pick up the check. The owner of A1 Concrete accused us of paying them slow, when in fact we paid them early per the contract, we paid them for the first and second portions of the work which was tearing down the shed, and removal of shed, they were paid the same day after that work was completed, we did not make them wait 30 days for either of these two payments, but by contract we could have. Then the last portion of the work to be completed was pouring the concrete slab, we told them they would receive their final payment after the shed was installed and everything passed city inspection, which included the concrete slab, we were within our contractual right to wait until final city inspection passed. The owner of A1 Concrete then told my husband that quote, “he’s been helping out Gerardo Montoya, general manager and that the owner has not received any money from what we had already paid them so far”, we wrote both checks to Gerardo Montoya, general manager as stated on the contract, “Check written to Gerardo Montoya”. My husband told him that was not our problem, that he needed to work that out with his general manager. Then A1 Concrete also threatened by husband that quote, “he records all his calls”, he also threatened to put a lien on the project. My husband asked the owner, did you even read your own contract, he said he had, then my husband told him we have 30 days from final invoice date to pay them for the remaining balance owned. Since the owner was recording the conversation, my husband let him know where they had failed miserably in the performance of their responsibilities as laid out above. The final invoice was dated August 23, 2024, we notified them on September 16, 2024 which was 24 calendar days from final invoice date, or 16 business days, normal business practice is to count due dates based on business days, not calendar days, which would make the final payment due by October 4, 2024.

I hired A1 concrete on 7/18/2024 to replace damaged section of my patio, work was started and has not been completed have made a lot of calls and text messages to the contractor and no response from him, last communication with him was that they were going to pour the cement on 8/6 2024 and have not heard from him since. overall rating is not good.

James and crew did a great job with constructing a concrete slab for a shed. The project took only a couple of days, from quote to pouring of the concrete. The area was left clean and the slab looks great. I would highly recommend A1 concrete.

First off, James called me minutes after posting. I liked that! He was at my house within the hours and we went over the job and gave me a price then and there. I approved and he was there the next day to start. In less just days, the area was prepped, rebar was set and concrete was poured. It will all be set by tomorrow. I can’t believe how fast and though the Alfa Concrete crew was. While new concrete is not something I need very often, I at least know who will be getting a call the next time I do need it. A very big 5 stars to Alfa Concrete.
