Description of Work: Got an appointment rather quickly, took several hours to fix two broken pvc water lines. Plumber didn't have parts on his truck and made two trips to Home Depot at $89.00 an hour. Satisfied with work, price was rather much, over $600.00!

 + -1 moreHe did install a new flapper in the tollet. He made the flapper seal by increasing the water level in the tank. The toilet is repaired. He attempted to fix the flow from the shower head but shower head now leaks and the flow is no better. He was at our house for one hour Charged 10.24 for the new flapper and 126.30 for his expertise over an hour. He then added a 41.39 travel fee and a 3.16 fuel fee. The total bill for an hours work was 181.08 for which he fixed one of two items. The shower we will have to get another plumber. We were lucky in that we did have a $25 dollar coupon. This charge is excessive and we would not use him again even if he fixed both problems. He fixed one.
Description of Work: He fixed the toilet by raising the water level in the tank for the flapper would completely seal. He attempted to fix the shower by removing a flow restricter.

I have used a couple of companies I would not use again, so when I get a good one, I keep on using them. That is Staas.

 + -1 moreI went to Mike at Mike Staas and told him I really needed help. I explained how to other plumber did a shabby job and was still not right. Mike personally went out and fixed it his self. I am so impressed. Mike even found another pipe that was leaking and the control box alarm was broken. I highly recommend Mike Staas!
Description of Work: After a local plumber did a sorry job at trying to fix my lift station, I gave up on them. My lift station was leaking and not adjust correctly.

 + -1 moreThis is actually the 2nd time that I have used Staas Plumbing to work on my rental property (condo) in Waco. In each instance they were easy to schedule as they went according to my tenant's schedule rather than theirs. Each time, the plumber was able to diagnose the problem quickly and give me options on how to resolve the issue. The work was done quickly and professionally, and no mess left behind. When it came to billing the jobs, they did not demand payment immediately as some I have dealt with in the past (some won't leave the house without being paid), they invoiced me and took my payment over the phone at my convenience. Their office staff as well as their plumbers are courteous and knowledgeable. This is why I will continue to use them. It is assuring when you can have people you can trust to perform work for you when you are over 300 miles away from your property.

 + -1 moreThe experience was absolutely negative. I didn"t get what I wanted done and got charged $622.23 for less than 2 hrs work. When I looked at the bill I saw where they had charged me $153.04 for travel,and fuel expenses. I feel they could have told me about those charges when I called them up and told them where I lived. I can only guess they would have charged me another $153.04 for coming out again on Monday besides parts and labor. Live and learn. I'll never use Stass Pumbing again.
Description of Work: I wanted to replace old fixtures with new on the tube and shower combo in both my bathrooms. My wife and I had already purchased the new hardware from a hardware store. I didn"t think there would be a problem, but it didn"t work out that way. The service man said he could not replace the old hardware with the new hardware we had purchased.They weren"t manufactured by the same compay. He said the best he could do was to replace the cartridge valves in both faucets if he had them on his truck. He had the the parts needed and went to work replacing the old with the new. The job took about an hour and forty five minutes, and even though it wasn"t what I wanted the problems we wre having seemed to be fixed. Before he left he said everything was working better but that the job wasn"t finished,and that he would have to come back on Monday to finish the job and with that he handed me a ticket for $622.23

Description of Work: I had a bathtub at one of my rental properties that was backed up. The water would not go down and the tenant could not use it. I had another plumber out there to drain the water about two months for the same problem. They wouldn't warranty the work so I decided not to call them back out. So, I called Staas about this and spoke with a very nice lady who scheduled the appointment. I specifically stated that I wanted to speak to the plumber about this because I was not happy with having to pay someone else for the same problem I had a couple of months ago. The lady I spoke with said someone would call me to discuss this. However, no one did. I called a few days later and was told the problem had been taken care of. I spoke with a guy who answered the phone this time. I asked if I could speak to someone about the problem. He said someone would call me. No one ever did. I called back again today to request someone call me to discuss this and no one has called me at all. After three attempts to discuss this problem, I am giving up. Additionally, the bill also seemed high for the work they did. They did say because I was a business the would take $20 off after I asked for a commercial discount. Here is what they charged me for a stopped up drain. Travel fee - $41.35 Fuel fee - $4.35 Auger fee - $121.05 Sewer line treatment - $76.78 Diagnostic - $67.43 ------------------------------------------ $311.48

 + 0 moreNeeded several small things done/looked on Angies list then called plumber/came out and gave estimate. Said he couldn't fix it that day but would call before the end of week. Never called. The next Tuesday he called and gave me 10 minutes to get home from work in the morning to let him in. He fixed 3 things but I needed to order parts for the last. I received parts and called plumber to come back to finish job. Never heard from anyone. Finally called 1 week later and they set up an appt. In meantime, I received a billing that is past due even tho I never received a bill. Called office who said I was supposed to pay from proposal. Looked at proposal and there is nothing that says I was to pay it. Because of terrible responsiveness and poor accounting practices plus my paying for plumber to drive back and forth to his office I will not use again!
Description of Work: fixed 2 toilets that were continually running/unclodded bathroom drain as well as hot water valve. Fixed hot water valve in another bathroom.

 + 0 moreI had a great experience! I have never had plumbing work done before, so joined Angie's List to get a recommendation. Scheduling was prompt and easy. I had already purchased the new faucets that I wanted to use to replace the old ones, but when the plumber got to my house he talked me out of using the ones I had purchased. He gave me some good advice about choosing a different faucet and even recommended a couple of places nearby that I should look. I went right away, found some new faucets, and was able to schedule for them to come back that same day and have them replaced. My only complaint was that there seemed to be some sort of smudge on the countertop when he was done. It's almost like it's into the surface of the countertop, but is just a small area is only noticeable when the light is shining on it from a certain direction. I've scrubbed on it, and it got better, but is still there just a little bit. Overall, I was very happy and would definitely call them again if I ever need a plumber again!
Description of Work: I had 3 bathroom faucets and drains replaced with a different style of faucet and drain.

 + 0 moreIt went well, overall, after we met with the owner. See the "services performed" description, above beginning with "We expected a big bill...." Mr. Staas was completely fair with us. We expect to utilize Staas Plumbing Co's services again. We want to do so. Staas comes recommended, and I join those who do so.
Description of Work: We have used this plumbing company for years with prompt service and good results. Our most recent experience involved service over three days at our residence. It began with an overflow of an upstairs toilet. This had happened several times in the past, but snaking and rooting the line had always cleared it up. This time, no. Called for service and they came promptly. First with one employee - replaced 50-year old toilet with owner-supplied new toilet, and replaced water closet supply stop. Snaked/roto'd drain from upstairs to outside - found massive roots and blockage. Second day with three employees, two, sometimes three vehicles, with one employee operating a sewer line video camera on two trips. With a rented excavator - located and dug up approx. 40 feet of old clay line filled with roots, replaced with PVC and provided two cleanouts. Third day, continued replacement and repaired outdoor faucet copper line and PVC sprinkler lines damaged by excavator, replaced excavated dirt, packed, smoothed and cleaned up. We expected a big bill, but it was far above expectations. The same day I received the bill, I wrote the owner, Larry Staas, President, telling him we had questions about amount of the statement and needed explanation of charge. I invited him to come in person to residence. He called upon receiptof my letter and came out immediately. He listened to my concerns, wasn't defensive at all, and went over charges and entries and explained. After reviewing the billing, he indicated some revisions were in order. We received the revised statement promptly and were satisfied with the downward adjustments. Overall experience was good with good result. They couldn't have been more responsive to our concerns and reasonable with adjustments. Our rating is "fair" for price, but that is not to imply that we weren't satisfied overall. I'm not sure I've ever experience an "Excellent" or "Good" price for excavated sewer line repair service. I think "fair" is what one should expect.

Description of Work: Checked around house for cleanouts, could not find any. So he got on roof, ran sink machine. Flush toilets to check that everything was ok. He even tightened my toilet seat for me.

 + -1 morePlumber removed toilet and used different sized "snakes" to unstop drain line. Finally cleaned out dead and rotting squirrel which had apparently gotten into line through roof vent. Plumber was nice and polite and explained process, suggesting putting wire screen over vent to prevent this happening in the future. He cleaned up after himself and got bathroom back in order. He also petted my kitty and she liked him too!
Description of Work: Toilet and shower were stopped up.

The plumber from Staas was respectful, courteous, took off his shoes, and even drew drawings for me so that I could understand where the leak was coming from and how it would be fixed. He was able to convince my downstairs neighbor, who does not speak English or Spanish very well, to let him fix what needed to be fixed from her apartment (she's a handful to work with, so this is a major feat). It's on the pricier side, but I would use Staas again in a heartbeat.
