Jason and Chris came our to our home to do an estimate and started working as soon as we gave the go-ahead. They worked about three hours and had to come back later in the week and spend the whole day. It was grueling work. Jason was underneath my house for five hours. Apparently, my plumbing system was a mess, with my kitchen and laundry room draining towards the field lines and city sewer. There were pipes all over the place, but still not draining properly. These guys got me fixed up! Everything now drains to the city sewer. We have no more backups. I can actually run the clothes washer and dishwasher at the same time! Believe me, this is HUGE. We have been in this house for twelve years, and we have always had issues. Things just kept getting worse. After trying to resolve the issue ourselves. We finally started looking for a plumber about a year ago. I didn't think we would ever get this resolved, but within a week of contacting Rudd, it was all done! Thanks so much!
Description of Work: I live in an older home, built in 1957. Part of our plumbing was draining into a gray water field line. We had been having backups into the laundry room for years! Our home has has a very small crawl space. We live in Brownsbor and had a hard time getting anyone to help us with the problem. Our local plumber, who has helped before on other problems, would not return our calls for this issue. Another Tyler company came out to do an estimate and then never sent it. I even emailed and called, inquiring about the estimate. It never came. A plumber from Mabank gave us a ridiculously high estimate, ranging from $4,500-$7,000. Nobody wanted to help us. Rudd helped us, and they didn't break the bank!

Rudd provided a quote of $5,352 to install a water line. This price quote included using a trencher to dig a trench 450 feet long, and laying a 1.25 inch poly pipe water line with appropriate connections at the street and build site. The depth of the trench was not specified in the quote, although i had told him i wanted it 3 feet deep. I liked the guy that came out to inspect the work site and gather information, and i was impressed by the fact that Rudd is family owned and has been in business for nearly 100 years. However none of that matters when the price quoted was more than double that of the competition. Also, the rep never called to follow up on the quote he emailed to me. It always reflects badly on a company when sales people don't follow through, in my opinion. The competitor that i chose to do the work did an absolutely fantastic job, including using a 2 inch pipe instead of the 1.25 inch pipe and making sure all components were certified for potable water. I could not have asked for a better job. Best of all, it only cost me $2,361. Because i chose not to hire Rudd, i did not want to specify letter grades for Quality, but it was reqiured by Angieslist. I gave Rudd a break and assumed their work to be worthy of an A. However i dinged them on responsiveness and professionalism for not following up. Bottom line: Rudd's quote was outrageously out of line with their competition and i will not be calling them in the future whatever my plumbing needs may be.

Neal came out on Monday and hooked up ice maker in fridge. Had to run a new flex hose through cabinents to sink. Then reconfigured dishwasher piping to also be all connected under sink for easy cut off. Called to advise the drain hose on dishwasher was broken so I went and got him parts to fix dishwasher. Installed garbage disposal under sink. Came back the next day to fix slow draining bathroom sink and was terribly blocked up. Heexplained what he was going to do in all cases. Gave me his card with all his contact information. Answered his phone promptly and returned calls promptly. Cleaned all up after work was compete. Very good experience!

Called in Artesian plumbing. They couldn't find the leak and suggested that a camera needed to be inserted to see if the leak was coming from pipes under the slab. Rudd came and conducted a cursory inspection of problem as I informed him of what had already been done. He suggested that the drywall be removed to reveal pipes near where water leak appeared to be. He did that and could see no visual reason. Ran water with no effect. I asked if an old hot water pipe left over from when the house hot water was re-piped several years ago could be a problem and was told no. They left with no resolution and asked that I inspect the open area in the wall after running water in other parts of the house to see where exactly the water was coming from and what was triggering the leak. My husband thought that the leak may have something to do with the a/c drain so as I filled a jug at a small sink in the living room he heard water running in the open wall. We figured out what was happening. An old hot water line had been opened and although it was no longer connected to the "system", the cold water was running through it to the "defunct" pipe that had not been capped off. I called Rudd again and the plumber returned and capped off the old pipe.
Description of Work: Cursory inspection of problem. Drywall removed to reveal pipes near where water leak appeared to be. Left with no resolution and asked that I inspect after running water in other parts of the house to see where exactly the water was coming from and what was triggering the leak. My husband and I figured out what was happening. Called Rudd again and plumber returned and capped off an old pipe.

I use Rudd Plumbing exclusively for plumbing. After trying several others they are by far the best. I have had a foundation leak, leak in interior wall, and various other minor problems and have found Rudd efficient and professional.

They clean up after themselves. They will give you a contract to move to the head of the line. They take 15% off the contract if you use it. They are very good. They are really nice guys. You don’t have to worry about them coming into your house.
Description of Work: They did some things under the house. They worked on some fixtures and unstopped my sink twice.

The job that Rudd did was Wonderful!
Description of Work: Replaced the gas copper pipe that Light Your Fire in Tyler, TX broke when they installed a grill. That is a different story. Light Your Fire needs a "BAD" report written about them. Rudd came in and put us back together. I'd choose Rudd again and again, plus we like their coupons.

If you believe in honest people then Rudd plumbing is not who I would call!!
Description of Work: Rudd plumbing called my 82 year old mother whom had just buried her husband of 62 years just 2 months ago, they said they needed to do an annual plumbing inspection she had signed up for. She does not recall signing but being 82 & forgetful she said ok, well you guessed it with in just a few moments they had found a problem with her hot water heater. A hot water heater that she has not had any problems with, my dad always took care of big repairs & she not wanting to bother anyone let them replace it. This is the 3rd company who has been at my mom's with their hand out since my dad died, luckily the other 2 companies where stopped before they milked her fir money. I just hope these men's wives, mothers & daughters get the same snake oil salesmen that they are, really tired of people who prey on the elderly.

Response from Rudd Contracting Co Inc
We want to express our condolences in the loss of your father. We know that this is a difficult time for you, your mom and the family. Thank you for allowing us to respond to your comments. The plumbing inspection is included in the Plumbing Service Agreement that was purchased by your parents. The inspector usually schedules these inspections 6 to 12 months after they are purchased. The inspection had already been paid for and its intent is to make sure that all of the plumbing system is functioning properly in order to make necessary repairs before something happens that causes a large loss, such as a water heater failing and flooding the home. Our plumber discovered, during his inspection, that the water heater supply pipes were leaking. The leak had gone on for some time and it had caused the fittings and pipe nipples, as well as, the top of the water heater to rust considerably. Our inspector pointed this problem out and recommended that your mom seriously consider having it taken care of before a failure of the pipes caused a flood in her home. We dispatched a crew, at her request. Upon examination of the water heater, our plumber explained the options, which were to make a repair to the supplies or replace the water heater with a new one that would have a 6 year parts / labor warranty. She opted to replace the water heater. Our plumber, knowing this was a sizable investment, asked her more than once if this was the option she wanted and she verified that it was. When a complaint was lodged with our dispatcher (not by our customer but other parties), our dispatcher offered to retain the water heater and show the damage that had been inflicted by the leak. That offer was declined. Our company operates on honest principles and our crews take great pride in satisfying the needs and wants of our customers. We have been in business for almost 100 years. We would not enjoy that kind of legacy without constant attention to being upfront and honest. We have performed plumbing work for this couple for many years and would never dream of taking advantage of them. Again, thank you for allowing us the privilege of responding to this comment.

It went great. The price was a little high, but I had some copper pipe that had to be replaced with steel. They explained everything and gave me estimates on the cost before the work was done, so the added expense wasn't a surprise.
Description of Work: I had a gas line leaking under my house and the gas company pulled my meter. I called Rudd and they came promptly the next day, discovered the cause of the leak and fixed it quickly. They were very neat and professional.

Too expensive and failed city inspection.
Description of Work: gas hot water heater removed. New gas hot water heater installed. Being in Jacksonville they had to obtain a city permit. Rudd charged me $60.00 for permit. Plumbers worked well and were very nice. Took about 2hours for everything. Only two problems for me 1) seemed very expensive and 2) when the City inspectors came out, the installation failed because there was inadequate airflow for the gas burners. Will not use Rudd again.

Very well. I had a leaky water supply valve on my toilet. I called and they came out and fixed it very fast. I also had them fix a gas supply line into our furnace. I am extremely satisfied with Rudd. The price was my only problem but hey I never like to spend money on unexpected home problems. It was an excellent value. They also have a plan that includes a yearly inspection of all your plumbing which I bought. It gives you a discount on existing/future work they do.
Description of Work: Replaced toilet water supply valve and gas supply line for furnace.
