Jeff comes across as a very friendly, nice guy, but trust me, he isn't. If you question him in any way, you will see a completely different side. I am a single mom, on disability, alone with no family or anyone to help me in any way so this experience has been beyond devastating. It took me years to be able to finally get us a decent home, and Jeff has made what should have been the best experience we've had into a nightmare. I still cry.
Description of Work: Jeff Roberts was contracted to do some repairs to our home prior to our moving in. The repairs were included in my USDA Rural Development home loan so they paid Jeff before the problems were corrected so now I am stuck with this mess because I have no more money to have it done correctly. The problems are way too numerous to go into detail, but in general the entire experience was a disaster. I have literally hundreds of pictures of the messes he made. PAINT: There is not a door facing or baseboard, light fixture or ceiling fan in the house that he did not get paint on, lots of it. There was paint all over the bathroom counters. Lots of corners and around the cabinets did not get painted. I dug huge chunks of dried paint out of the garbage disposal so I have to assume that large amounts of it made it way into my septic system. He agreed to remove the popcorn ceiling, but painted over it instead so not it won't come off. Used the same paint rollers that he did the ceiling with to do the walls, so now there are bits of popcorn all over the walls. He was supposed to take down the ceiling fans before painting but apparently did not know how so left the ceiling fans dangling GENERAL: He for some unknown reason removed the electric wall heater from the master bathroom. The central heat does not go to that bathroom so now there is NO heat in there. And the holes he patched are ridiculous cracked blobs of patch material with the patch fabric showing. I wish I could show pictures of these because you would have to see them to believe how bad they are. SHOWER DOOR: The master bath had a cracked glass shower door that he was paid to replace. He decided that if the last door got broken, a new one probably would too so just put up a cheap plastic curtain that wasn't even big enough to cover the opening. Needless to say, that shower cannot be used because there is no way to seal around the ends of the curtain, regardless of how big it is, so water gets all over the bathroom. Didn't give a refund on the cost of replacing the door, either. RANGE VENT HOOD: He was contracted to vent the range hood to the outside. He took down the old recirculating vent hood and put up a new recirculating vent hood and called it a gift.. ELECTRICAL: He wasn't even supposed to touch the elecrical because he is not qualified to do so, but said he rearranged the wires in the box to make it more efficient. Then he disconnected ALL of my outside electrical, including the deck lights and outlets, flood and yard lights and the the storage room. And took all of the romex wire. He was supposed to put flood lights on each corner of the house that worked both on motion sensor or on demand. He put one over the back door, but it is falling down so we can't use it. He put one NEAR the front corner, but placed it so that it does not shine down the dark side of the house. The other end of the house is just totally dark. And they are motion sensor only so I cannot turn them on when I need them. FLOORING: As for the floors, he was supposed to remove the carpets, then seal and stain the concrete. He used a sledge hammer and a huge pry bar to remove the carpet leaving HUGE holes in the concrete which he did not fill or patch. He ran a buffer on part of the floor but said the concrete was not good enough to stain so it needed painted. He swept or vacuumed the concrete, but did not wash it to get the dust off from buffing, did not prime or seal it, then put a very thin coat of concrete WALL paint on the floors - FLAT WALL PAINT ON ALL THE FLOORS. it is beyond hideous. He used Behr paint. When I contacted Behr to ask them what I could do with the mess on my floors, they said he had to be stripped because nothing would stick to that unprepared floor with the flat paint on it. They were so upset that their product had been used in such a wrong way, they offered to reimburse the cost of all the stripper, sealer, primer and paint that would be needed to fix my floors, and all Jeff would have to do would be supply the labor to correct his error. Would he? NO! He wanted an extra $3500 to correct HIS mistake. Finally being out of funds to be able to pay upkeep on both houses I had to go ahead and move into the house, so now have to live with these horrible floors. Then he drug all of the old carpet and old soffet and other trash out into the FRONT YARD and burned it, right there in the yard. We have hauled off several wheel barrow loads of toxic ashes and it is still a mess. Did I mention TOXIC?!?! Trust me, there is lots more I could detail, but this gives you the general idea. Like I said, I have hundreds of pictures detailing everything that I would be glad to share.
