The outside of our house looks amazing! Our neighbors keep asking if we just installed shutters...nope! I tell them we've always had them but they were dull until Tony's crew painted them and our front door. It's amazing what a simple project with a great crew can do for your home! This is the second time I've hired Tony and again am beyond pleased with the completed work.

We recently hired Tony Ratliff of Ratliff Construction for 3 separate projects at our house, partial exterior siding replacement and full exterior paint, indoor vinyl flooring installation and window replacement. These have now been completed and we are very pleased with the quality and professionalism of the work. The subcontractors were punctual, polite and friendly. They treated our home with respect and consideration and always left it clean. Tony was very helpful and easy to work with. Best of all, was the care and quality of work on all phases of the job. The workers are craftsmen who showed a true commitment to the customer’s needs and concerns. Here are some of the most notable observations from our positive experience with Ratliff Construction. 1. During the estimation and evaluation part of the projects, Tony offered invaluable insights and suggestions for our jobs that we would not have thought of. These were recommendations regarding materials and processes that resulted in a higher quality and more economical outcome. 2. We were installing a new type of flooring product that required extra care and preparation prior to laying down the floor. The subcontractors were very diligent in their installation process, making sure to conform to the product specifications, resulting in an outstanding finished product. 3. We received the wrong materials for one job that resulted in a 1-2 week delay in the scheduled installation. We had to reschedule our installation for a later date. Tony was able to adjust the crew’s schedule on short notice and still get this project finished in time to meet our tight completion deadline. 4. Once work was started on any phase of our construction, they made sure to get finished before moving on to another job. They were efficient and focused on the task at hand. Our experience with Ratliff Construction was very positive and we really enjoy the new look of our house.

I HIRED TONY RATLIFF BECAUSE OF THE REVIEWS ON ANGIE'S LIST AND APPROVED BY BBB, AND HE TALKED LIKE A GOOD CHRISTIAN MAN. THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I'VE EVER MADE. THIS GUY TOOK A 2 WEEK JOB AND DRUG IT OUT OVER 2 MONTHS. ALL HE HAD FOR A CONTRACTOR IS 2 HISPANIC GUYS AND 1 HISPANIC GUY FOR A PAINTER. THE NEW SUB-FLOOR HAS SOFT SPOTS AND IS UN-EVEN IN SEVERAL PLACES. THE TEXTURE THEY PUT ON THE CORNERS OF THE WALLS WAS HORRIBLE. I FINALLY TOLD HIM TO COVER THEM UP WITH SOME TRIM. THEY FAILED TO PAINT UNDER THE VANITY AND THE INSIDE OF THE CLOSET IN THE BATHROOMS. TONY TOLD ME THAT WHEN THEY TOOK OUT THE APPLIANCES THEY WOULD PUT BACK THE NEW ONES THAT WE BOUGHT. WHICH WAS A LIE. THEY WOULD NOT HOOK THEM BACK UP. I HAD TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO HOOK MY WASHER AND DRYER BACK UP. WHEN THEY TOOK OUT OUR DRYER WHICH WAS NEW, THEY TORE THE VENT OUT OF THE INSIDE OF IT AND I HAD TO PAY SOMEONE TAKE IT APART AND REBUILD THE INSIDE OF THE DRYER. TO REPLACE THE RAILING ON THE PORCH THEY USED LUMBER THAT I HAD BOUGHT FOR ANOTHER PROJECT AND DIDN'T TELL ME THAT THEY WERE USING IT. TONY TOOK ADVANCES ONE AFTER ANOTHER AND PULLED THE WORKERS OUT FOR A WEEK BECAUSE I WOULDN'T GIVE HIM ANOTHER ADVANCE. PLUS HE CAME AND PULLED THEIR TOOLS AND HIS SIGN. I PAID TONY RATLIFF $13,850 FOR A JOB THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN FINISH. AND HE WANTED ANOTHER ADVANCE TODAY 3/31/17 TO CONTINUE WORK. I CAME HOME ONE DAY AFTER WORK AND THEY HAD LEFT OUR FRONT DOOR UNLOCKED AND STANDING WIDE OPEN. WE HAD OUR OUTSIDE ANIMALS RUNNING IN AND OUT OF OUR HOME FOR SEVERAL HOURS. I FINALLY TOLD HIM WE ARE DONE. I WILL HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE TO COME IN AND FINISH THE JOB HE STARTED. THIS IS NOT WHAT I CALL A CHRISTIAN MAN OR A PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTOR. (WE HAVE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING IF ANYONE WANTS TO SEE THEM. YOU CAN CALL ME ANYTIME ON MY CELL IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING HIRING THIS GUY) MY NAME IS STEVE SMITH AT 903-245-2872. I WOULD HATE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE PAY HARD EARNED MONEY FOR A CONTRACTOR LIKE THIS.
Description of Work: TAKE UP CARPET AND FLOOR COVERING, REPLACE SOME SUB-FLOOR, INSTALL NEW LAMINATE THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE HOUSE, PAINT KITCHEN, LAUNDRY, AND BOTH BATHS. RE-INSTALL NEW APPLIANCES, AND LIGHTING IN BOTH BATHS. REPLACE RAILING ON FRONT PORCH AND WASH AND RE-STAIN OUTSIDE OF CEDAR HOME.

Response from Ratliff Painting & Repair
Homeowner was not told this job would take 2 weeks. In fact, I clearly specified in emails and in the bid that we would not know the full scope of the job until we saw the amount of damage to the subfloor. This was a mobile home with particle board subfloor damaged by a leak. Homeowner was told it would take a week or longer just to replace the subflooring alone, not to mention all the other work. Homeowner asked me to use specific wording in my bid as to convince the insurance company that all of his rotten flooring was from one particular leak. In actuality, he's had leaks in the past because the floor was rotten and it wasn't all damage done by this one particular leak. Homeowner did not want the insurance company to know this though. This should have been a red flag for me. I gave him the estimate and he also asked me to raise the price enough to cover his deductible so he wouldn't be out any money. I appreciate that he is now referring to my very hard-working, honest crew members as "Hispanics" in this review, because to my face and in texts (and even in earshot of them,) he called them my "Mexicans." My guys became very discouraged and unhappy about this and were reluctant to continue the job. As far as the lumber of his that we used, yes, we used five 2x4s --- a value of about $20. My guys were short lumber and he had some out there. Instead of my guys standing around waiting on me for an hour or more to purchase the lumber and deliver it to them, I told them to continue with that lumber and I would replace it. This was all plainly discussed in a text and he said it was no problem. On one particular day he texted me that he and his wife were "disgusted" with our work. This came as quite the shock after multiple texts of him telling me how great everything was looking. The things that he was upset about were minor things that are always repaired when we do what we call a "punch list." This is a common practice among people in the remodeling industry. There were some areas of texture on the walls that needed to be touched up where we had installed wooden strips. The job wasn't even complete and we had not yet started the punch list. Because of his negativity and complaining, I had my guys pull all the tools from the job and leave. I could see things weren't going well at this point and I wasn't sure if he even wanted to continue with work he claimed to be disgusted with. He asked me why we weren't at the job the next day and upon explaining why, he threatened to sue me and call the TV stations. After he and I spoke on the phone and sorted this out, we resumed the job. I thought things were going fine again and we continued to work several days with no issues. I texted him one day to say that my guy would be out to finish the inside job, which lacked about an hour or two of work, and that we would get started on completing the outside. No money had been collected for the outside work yet, although we had completed approximately $500 worth of work there. He stated they were going to hold off on doing the outside work and that they were "done." He said they would hire someone else to finish that. He says the damage to his dryer vent (He told we tore the aluminum dryer vent which is about a $5 part, I know nothing about rebuilding a dryer???) and the lumber we used make up for this. At this point, I am happy to leave this job behind me and he can keep the $500 he owes me. Some things to note: It is virtually impossible to have perfectly level floors with zero soft spots in a double wide mobile home that has been settling for years, had major flooring damage and is seamed together in the middle. Particle board is nothing more than glued-together sawdust. We did the best we could do. Painting inside closets was never discussed and was not on the contract. We did however paint the inside of the pantry which was also not on the contract but we agreed later to do for free. Removing and hooking up appliances was not on the contract. New appliances were never discussed upon starting the job. Midway through, he informs me they are buying new appliances and asks if we will set the new ones in place. My guys removed the old ones, set the new ones in and hooked up the washer and dryer for FREE. I only received 3 draws on this job. I did not repeatedly ask for money as he states. I make all homeowners aware up front of how often I will ask for money and how much work is to be completed before doing so. Regrettably, his door was indeed left open as he states. The guy who was responsible for that was working with Bond-o and oil-based primer that day which left him feeling rather loopy. After cleaning up from the job and leaving, he failed to lock up the house. He felt horrible about it and both myself and this employee apologized profusely for it. I even had this crew member stay late the next day until the homeowner arrived home so that he could apologize face-to-face. The homeowner told him it was no problem and to please be more aware the next time. I have screenshots of text messages to back up everything I am saying here. I will not say this job went off without a hitch, but I am struggling to see how this was the "worst decision" this homeowner has ever made. I also refuse to stoop so low to call into question someone's faith or lack thereof because of a mistake. Thankfully, the only One who judges me knows otherwise.

Tony's crew was always here right on time and worked very hard all day. They always kept me informed of what they were doing during the time they were here. The end product is amazing! Our game room went from ugly 80's to a beautiful upgraded room that I can't wait to show off! The drywall repair looks great too! I will definitely be using them again!

What was interesting about it, I never met the gentleman and never saw them. We were out of town. He was able to get to the job earlier than he had anticipated. We were in Vicksburg, MS and we conducted all of our business by cell phone. He sent me pictures and we just texted regularly but he got the job done and we came back and it was quite satisfactory. I would say he went above and beyond.
Description of Work: They stained a fence for me. They pressure washed and cleaned certain areas that needed it and applied stain.
Description of Work: Tony and his crew are prompt and professional and did a fantastic job of repairing my older home. Projects included replacing a floor, the roof, and decking, plus other smaller jobs replacing doors, carpet, and painting. Awesome clean up as well. I can highly recommend Tony and his crew.

Tony and his crew have always done exceptional work, and are very flexible. More importantly, they do a great job cleaning up after themselves so that you don't have to come in and work behind them. The last job I had him do was to paint 3 bedrooms in the house we were buying the day we closed on the house. They did a phenomenal job coming in behind the previous owner who had JUST moved out, getting the job done quickly (and painted beautifully!), cleaned up and out of the house as our moving truck was pulling in. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!! You won't regret calling Mr. Ratliff for any painting or repair needs!

Tony does a super job, is very reliable and our results have been awesome on everything I've hired him to do for us. He works for many of our friends and we all trust him totally as to integrity, workmanship and honesty.
Description of Work: Tony has done interior painting and repairs and outdoor projects for us over many years.
Tony and his team have a high standard of work quality. They are meticulous and always clean up afterwards. I am always amazed at how well new paint matches the old when I don't have the paint. We have used Tony Ratliff over the last 15 years for our rental properties, business and home. He has done everything from laying slate on the patio, installing tile all throughout to repairing and painting. Even small jobs like installing mailboxes. Tony is my "go to" when I needed anything done.

Tony's workers are deliberate, but you want work that is done with quality rather than fast work done in a sloppy fashion. Tony has been doing repair work for us for twenty years. He has probably completed 20 or 30 jobs to our full satisfaction. We have recommended him to dozens of our friends and they have been satisfied with his work. He is an honest man, and he stands by his promises. I trust him completely. He and his workers have had access to our security system for years, and we've never had a problem with anything missing.
Description of Work: The most recent job was to sand, seal, and paint all exterior windows, and paint the entire exterior of house.
really good! I love Tony's crew and feel my home is perfectly secure when they are here. I don't feel a need to stay at home when his guys are working. Tony is totally trustworthy. When he says something needs to be done or replaced, it does. If it can be touched up satisfactorily without being totally replaced, he will tell me. His prices are reasonable. I recommend him to all my friends.
