Services we offer
Air conditioning & heating maintenance, repairs & replacement. Duct cleaning. Attic insulation. Air purification. Ductless split systems.
Chose this company because of the, absolute mistake. I called because we bought a home and the master suite addition wasn’t getting enough air and was concerned about the duct work. The tech came looked at the unit and within 2 min said we needed a larger unit and didn’t even go into the attic to check the ducts. Closed a vent and said we had no options but to buy a bigger unit. Also, tried to tell us the motor was going bad was leaking oil. Paid $115 service charge to have him close a vent and be on his way 27 minutes later. I called Rose City Air for a 2nd opinion and they showed up within 30 min. Lo and behold, the duct work is tied in incorrectly and needs to be fixed and no oil leak - it’s just a “weep” plug which is normal. Yes I could use a larger unit but we came up with a solution for a couple of hundred dollars before I spend $7000 on a new unit. I called the owner to explain the situation with his tech, he told me Rose City was taking my money and thanks for doing business with them. I’d say $115 well spent to not use this company and know what kind of service you could have expected.

I apologize in advance for the wall of text below - but it's necessary to include all relevant information. The tech showed up, looked at some things, and informed me that I was low on freon. I asked if that was what was causing the failure to cool completely, and the ice on the copper line, and was told, "Yes, definitely." He added 2 lbs of freon to the system, and AFTER doing this, told me, "You have to find the leak and fix that or adding freon doesn't do any good." Really? Now you tell me - after charging me $270. OK - so he looks further, finds that the leak is in the "master valve" of the outside unit. He quotes me $866 to replace this part, stating the leak in this part can't be repaired w/o replacing it. Also, my inside coil is very dirty, and this will cost $317 to clean (I do not dispute this - the coil was dirty). Tech gives me the quotes, and says if it was his system, he'd replace it with a new system rather than fix these problems. He calls a salesman who came to my house, agreed with him, and quoted me between $6,500 and $8,500 for a new system (mine is about 8.5-9 years old). I told him I need to think about it, and please email me a quote. He did not want to email it, saying he'd rather give the quote in person, but agreed to email the quote due to my work schedule. I never did receive a quote. I'm no expert in AC, so I called my dad, a retired engineer who worked at Trane for 30 years, and asked his advice - he advised I get a second opinion (since he's out of state and couldn't check it out himself). I called a licensed, independent contractor that I located off a different website, and he agreed to check everything out for his $55 service fee. He came out a few days later and looked everything over. He cleaned the inside coils for $150. He informed me that since I was only 2 lbs low on freon, the leak may be very slow (2 lbs lost in 9 years?) and he thought it would be crazy to replace the master valve ($866), and instead put some loctite on the valve cap (no charge), stating he had fixed multiple minor leaks this way. He opened the outside unit, and informed me that it was obvious no one had cleaned it at all - he showed me that it was inches deep in wet leaves and mud on the bottom, making it impossible for moisture to drain, and my condensor was sitting in this muck (which would eventually cause it to rust out and fail). He cleaned the outdoor unit for $25. Add $55 for the service call, and I spent a total of $230 to fix a problem that Aire Serv had told me warranted a new in AND outside unit - an entire new system, OR that I could spend approximately $1180 to fix (coil cleaning and replace "master valve"). My system is working perfectly, almost a month later. If it fails, I'll update here. Anyway - the contractor took pictures of the outside unit showing it had not been touched when Aire Serv did their tune up. I called Aire Serv and let the dispatcher know I was not happy with the service, and was told to forward pics to the owner, which I did. I called just before 5, and was told "they are reviewing them and will call you tomorrow" (would have been Friday). They didn't call Friday. I waited through Monday, and halfway through Tuesday. After receiving zero response, I called the corporate office of Aire Serv, disgusted. I detailed my problems with the work, and sent details in an email at their request. My complaints, specifically were 1) Non-completion of the tune-up and leaving my outside unit untouched/unchecked. 2) Being charged $270 for freon, and being told before it was added that "that's the problem," without being told there'd be additional costs afterwards for the leak, 3) The assertion that the leak required an $866 repair - and the fact I got it fixed free, and 4) the fact that they tried to sell me a new unit at a cost of several thousand dollars, for a problem that has been fixed for just over $200. They forwarded this email to the owner. A couple days later, the lady from corporate called me back and asked if I'd heard from the owner - I had not, and she expressed surprise, saying she spoke to them and thought they'd have contacted me by now. She then called them, and called me back saying they were mailing me a letter with a $49 refund. I got the letter 2 days later, with the $49 refund. In the letter from the owner, she acknowledged that the tune up was not done correctly, and informed me that is why they were giving me a refund. However - the letter went on to blame me for not letting Aire Serv fix the problem - without acknowledging that I would NEVER have even known of a problem without calling the other company! Some quotes: "You are right, those (leaves) should have been cleaned out at the time of the tune up, but you did nto call into the office at the time of the service to let us know you were unsatisfied with our work. You called another company out instead. We were never given the opportunity to address the issue and fix it ourselves...." "Our company has a great reputation for taking care of our customers but were not given the opportunity to do so in this situation." I called and spoke to the owner, and tried to explain why I had to get a second opinion before spending several thousand dollars on a new system, as her company recommended. She continued to say, "You should have let us fix it - and couldn't understand at all why I didn't feel I could count on her company after learning they didn't do the work promised (thinking I wouldn't know, because I'm ignorant of this kind of thing - exactly why I called the "other company." Here's one problem with that logic - I had NO idea your company didn't do the work "at the time of service." I didn't know until I got a second opinion, you know, just in case the first one was incomplete, and to make sure I wasn't getting taken advantage of. Without calling the second company, I cannot see inside my outside unit, and I trusted your tech to do what I paid for. I had no idea he had not done that part of the job until the second company showed proof that the work wasn't done. After I learned of the problem this way - I should have sent the honest service person I hired home, and called you back? If one company does terrible work, it is reasonable to get someone you trust more to fix their mess - I am not obligated to give you a second chance. Second problem - you NEVER addressed the fact that your tech told me that low freon "was definitely the cause of the problem" and put $270 worth of freon in before telling me "it won't help at all if you don't fix the leak." Third problem - you NEVER addressed the fact I was quoted $866 repair for leak repair - and the "other company" fixed this very minor leak as part of a $55 service call. Also not addressed - the fact I was told that due to the high cost of repair, I should go ahead and replace this entire system, and that has proven untrue. I don't doubt that the owner of this company is a good person and many people have received good service from them. I took the time to write this over long review so someone else may look twice before spending way too much for repairs, or replaces a system with years of good use left in it - because that's what would have happened to me if I didn't get a second opinion. It is ALWAYS a good idea to get a second opinion before making a decision of this magnitude, and I'm still annoyed that the owner of this company even now believes I'm somehow at fault in this matter. I'm just glad I didn't make a huge, expensive mistake and take their advice in this case.
Description of Work: My AC was only cooling to about 78 degrees before the copper line on the inside unit iced up. I used a coupon from AngiesList for a "Tune Up," $49 with coupon. Freon was added ($270), then they tried to sell me a complete new system - the tune up was not completed, and my problem was not fixed. $49 for work not done was I got the problem fixed for a tiny fraction of what Aire Serv quoted me by someone else. After a complaint to corporate, $49 was refunded. and I got a letter blaming me for getting someone else to clean up their mess. See details below.

Both of my AC units are now cooling. One uses the Old R-22 Freon the newer one uses the new Freon. The serviceman came out two days ago and repaired what he could. He needed a part to complete the repair he did not have on his truck but said he would get the part and be back on the next day to complete the Job. He was and he did. He did not mind me looking over his shoulder. I always enjoy watching a person with mechanical skills because I have none. I had a lot of questions and wanted information about options and approximate costs many of which were for future reference. He happily answered them all.
Description of Work: they serviced both of my outside units. One needed a new condenser the other had a small leak. They also added more Freon to both units.

First, I called Air Serve last month when my compressor unit fan stopped working. Fernando responded quickly to the call, on a weekend, and soon determined that a contactor had failed. He replaced it, cleaned the coils, checked the freon level, and the system worked great when he left. Then, this month, the system suddenly stopped pushing cold air. Again, on a weekend, I called Air Serve and Kenny responded within 2 hours. Fernando had mentioned an old capacitor that might be trouble in the future, and sure enough, Kenny discovered that the capacitor had blown. He quickly replaced the capacitor, checked the rest of the unit, and happily reported that it was now running "like a scalded dog." I was very pleased with both service calls and the professionalism and honesty of both Fernando and Kenny. I have a very old system and discussed the eventuality of having to replace it. I was given an upfront opinion of the system's condition and was told that it was difficult to say how long it would last, but was also told it may well operate for another few years. I wasn't pressured to buy a new system and was given good advice about how to keep my current system functioning well in the meantime. Kenny was especially helpful with that. And, for both service calls, the price was reasonable. So, I would definitely recommend Air Serve for AC system repairs, and will also hot hesitate to call them again in the future when I need them. Very pleased.

Peterson Rdunder stooThey quoted me very high prices then when I questioned it they lowered it to still very high price. The service fellow who came to the site had two different pricing books. He said one was the old pricing. I under stood it to be that I was buying a coupon from Angies list for $35.00 and that was suppose to take care of the service call. Well it didnt and I just threw 35.00 away.Th ecompany said they would credit me $35.. off the price of the service call. I still had to pay $52.00 for a service call that should of been free. I will never purchase another Angies List coupon again.

Garret did the initial estimate. He was courteous and did a great job explaining the process and the pricing. Of the estimates we received, they had the best pricing. When there was a hiccup with the estimate not reaching my email, the owner of the company called me from home and verified the address so she could resend it, which she did promptly. The service technicians were clean, polite, and courteous. They fixed the units quickly and checked for other problems as well as advising of other issues that would need attention in the future. They were great to deal with. Highly recommended, will do business with again!

They were excellent, called to confirm appointment, showed up within their time window,, I showed them around, they started diagnosing the systems, they numbered them, and gave me documents detailing what each system needed, told me which ones needed replaced, the age of the units, the expected service life, typical problems, etc. Extremely knowledgeable about HVAC systems, very polite, answered all of my questions, gave me lots of useful information, charged a more than fair price, and we were extremely pleased with the service provided. These guys have definitely won us over as a customer. If we buy the place, they are going to get the replacement work for sure.
Description of Work: I was in the option period on a house and commercial building in Ben Wheeler with 5 HVAC systems. It was an estate situation and the sellers knew nothing about the property's condition, and it had been neglected for years. I hired Aire Serv to come out to do an inspection of the units and give me the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I asked for an estimation on a new coil for my unit. I was comparing companies before I decided who to use. My unit leaks freon and I was told this is where the leak is. My unit stopped working again and I just assumed the freon was gone again. They said they had to come out to give me an estimate - other companies I called gave me the estimate without looking at the unit. He came out and looked it over, on his way to the car to write up the estimate he wondered out loud if I was sure this is what my problem was. I told him I wasn't positive. He decided to check the outside unit and came back in a couple of minutes later with a small part in his hand. Told me that was my problem and didn't charge me for the part or his time! So he saved me about $2,000 and has a new customer for life! I'm sure in the not to distant future I will need the new coil or an entire new unit and I will definitely use them.

Ive had some shoddy service from AC companies in the past. Air Serv is an exception to the rule. I joined Angie list for the sole reason to find a good AC company They didn't disappoint. My ac seemed like it ran way to long, so i wanted someone to come just check it out for me. I found a coupon for $29 bucks for diagnostic (regular 89) on angies list to Air Serv which was the #1 rated company in Tyler. Lucky me. I bought the coupon and scheduled the service. They sent out Joe Martel to do my service. I knew when he walked in the door it would be a good experience. He was nice, friendly, great personality and seemed to know what he was doing. I explained my issue, and also the issues i have had with previous companies then he went straight to work. He diagnosed my inside unit and said all looked good. except he found the fan speed was set to medium instead of high. he changed that and then sealed up my unit. He then went to check my outside until. He found it was OVER Charged with freon, so he recovered the excess and then had to stop because of the rain that day. I rescheduled on Monday and they came back out and Joe checked my outside unit. There he found that someone had replaced my run capacitor with one that was half the size. He quoted me a price and I got him to fix that. He adjusted the freon and then checked everything else. He explained that the incorrect capacitor being on there could have damaged my compressor, but only time would tell, when he left all was working good. He answered all my questions and was a true professional. He even stuck his head in my attic to look at my insulation and told me that part of my problem could be insulation as i don't have enough. His company does not do insulation, but he recommended a few companies. I may be giving them a call. Overall i couldn't be happier with the service i received. Air Serv has a customer for life here. I will call them when i need help.

Aire serv was the only company to actually come to my house and see the unit in question. They gave me options as to products available and were able to schedule me within a couple of days. The installation crew arrived on time and completed the quoted work quick and professional. After the installation the owner called me and asked if I was satisfied. It was good customer service at a fair price. This is a family operated business who treat other as they would want to be treated. I would use them again and recommend them to my family and friends.
