We first used J&T last summer (2019) to evaluate on my AC units that had stopped cooling. The diagnosis was the coil had a leak. In the interim, freon was added to the system. It was suggested that we wait until the winter to replace the coil as the prices would be lower. It seemed like decent advice. I wrote a 5 star review in fact. This spring, my other unit stopped cooling. J&T "looked" but didn't test the system. Again, the diagnosis was to replace the coil on this system as it too had a leak. I agreed to the change which cost approximately $2900 with taxes. Three weeks later, the system stopped cooling. I called J&T out to determine the issue. This time, it was a leak on the outside unit. Again, no test we're run to identify the exact location. The recommendation was to replace the entire outside unit. At this point, as you would expect, I asked if this could have been the leak in the first place. This is where things got nasty and totally unprofessional. Instead of agreeing and trying to figure out a way to help us, Jay asked when was the AC unit last cleaned and then began to blame me for the unit not working properly. After my wife sighed from his response, he then said he's not taking this and said he's done with us. We attempted to have a further conversation but Jay of J&T got in his truck and left. This situation could easily have been resolved with an apology and finding a way to work together. So, I had another firm come out and look at the unit. They found the leak which was indeed on the outside unit. He fixed the leak with parts and labor for $370. One last thing, the first unit that was determined to have a coil leak in 2019 was also tested by this other firm. It still has max pressure and running fine. Home Owners Needing Help with their systems: AC firms do have ways to test systems to find leaks. One way is to inject a dye and I suspect there are other ways too. These tests cost extra money of course, but it could save you thousands of dollars.

One of our units was not cooling. Jay came out quickly and tried the least expensive option first, while explaining everything to me. He gave me advice for how to take care of the unit and things I could do myself. The unit wasn't working the next day, so Jay gave us a temp fix so that we could replace the necessary part when prices drop in the off season. I've texted him a bunch of questions while trying to get the unit running better and he answered so many questions and walked me thru a lot of the process. He's been great. Definitely recommend.

Jay Winkler, owner, apparently tried to save us some money by replacing only what was essential but he cut too many corners. He replaced the condenser with a 3.5 ton unit and put a 2.5 or 3 ton evaporator inside a 4 ton air handler. He did not level the air handler and left it tilting several degrees, preventing proper drainage. The system is continuously overflowing into the emergency drain pan. No description of recommended follow-up service (such as leveling or replacing the air handler at first opportunity) was documented other than "watch for water". He was reluctant to return phone calls for follow-up service. When an appointment was finally booked to resolve the drainage problem he sent two kids (18-22 yrs old) who were not licensed professionals to perform a "routine seasonal inspection". The kids stated that it was normal for the air handler to drain into the emergency drain pan and did not bother inspecting the evaporator or primary drain. They stated that the only service needed was to replace the rusted drain pan. He did not respond to any further requests for follow up service. I know other families who have suffered similar reckless disservice. I believe the owner of this outfit should have his Texas HVAC contractors license revoked. I am in the process of filing a fully documented complaint with the Texas licensing board. The fine print in his contract states: "Buyer/owner agrees to arbitration before any credit card disputes or any bad posts are left via the Internet ... and releases seller from any liability from damages resulting from our work". I am spending this valuable time to document these abuses because I truly care about my neighbor.

My Mom called late Friday night and told us that her heat pump was making a loud noise. We searched for a repair company to get to her home as quickly as possible. J and T promised to be there at 8 AM the next morning (Saturday) and they were there as promised. They quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor. Since the compressor was only year old J & T contacted the manufacture and got them to send a new compressor via Fed Ex and the problem was repaired Monday A.M. Trying to arrange for this work from far away was taunting but the folks and J and T were helpful, responsive and very professional. all the work was covered by the manufacture.
