They cracked the corner of one panel of sidewalk. I contacted them, they said they were not responsible for any cracking they made during work. There is a small font note at the bottom of the contract. You should read everything carefully before signing the contract. I appreciate their quick, sincerely lengthy response. I really like their job attitude. I raised their grade, and not going to cash their refund check.

Response from Southern Concrete Raising Inc
Mrs. [member name remove], First I would like to apologize for your negative experience with Southern Concrete Raising. It always stings me personally when I read "They cracked my...." Yes, old, dry, eroded, sunk, and voided concrete can crack thru during the raising and/or resettling process- We are honestly at every job to help not hurt, and if we can provide the customer with a permanent low-cost less intrusive solution then we feel good about ourselves. Aesthetics certainly are a priority but this process doesn't allow us to always keep that atop. Fact is, concrete cracks from the bottom in sunken cases because of the conditions mentioned above along with the gradual bend and pressure build- our process relieves that but in ~10% of cases, can result in a crack. This unfortunately has occurred in your case, resulting in your disappointment, and in keeping with my pledge I will be happy to refund your money. We have put a check in the mail. Finally, thanks for advice to the A-Listers- you couldn't be more correct about reading contracts- We certainly do also stress during our sales calls the disadvantages to our process vs. the advantages, and yes, we do list it on our contract, but not necessarily in small font or just once, in fact 3 times- take a closer look at your contract and you will see it mentioned in bold face just below your written quote, again just below that in our guarantee, and yet again right where you sign the contract in BOLD Capitalized letters. Point is, it is not something we try to hide, in fact just the opposite, due to the fact that these are certain risks that are taken with this process when the contract is signed. Again my apologies, be well.

The estimator showed up on time. The day before they were scheduled to perform the work, someone called to verify time. The employees showed up on time. Great, friendly and knowledgeable employees. They did great work and the driveway and sidewalk look so much better now. Would definitely recommend this company and would use them again.

It looks ten times better than it did and now I don't have to worry about people tripping. We didn't want to replace the sidewalk and now it will hopefully be good for another 50 years!

Work was completed in a day. Did a good job blending the holes that had to be drilled into the pea gravel sidewalk & patio. I had to really look closely to see where the work was done. I no longer have standing water on the corner of the patio where the slab had sunk beneath the surface of the grass.

They did an excellent job to begin with. About a year and 7 months later one of the driveway slabs had shifted and cracked very badly again, as well as another slab cracked and shifted slightly. They were so pleasant to deal with and came back with no hesitation to re-level this again?at no extra charge. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. They are prompt, professional, and very pleasant to work with.

They came and raised, leveled, and stabilized the area, and that was good... for a while On the contract, it said "Southern Concrete Raising will come back once, if necessary, to repump the areas mudjacked if they resettle more than a 1/2-inch within a period of 1 year." I called then back about 3 weeks before the warranty was to expire as the area has sunk again. First, it took about two weeks to actually get someone to call me back. I probably left my contact information with the woman who answered the phone three separate times. I finally got a call back, explained the situation, and the gentleman scheduled a visit for the next Saturday, I think it was like Sept. 23, to come out and redo the area. I remember that it was going to be the same time that my kids played soccer, so one of us was going to stay back while they were here. The date came and went, with no workmen showing up to do the job. Now this is the part that is a little fuzzy: I am not sure if I called them back to inquiry why no one showed up, but I definitely can remember that I have never heard back from them thus far. Yes, I realize I have waited a while to give this review, but I came across the agreement again as I am preparing to move, and I remembered the unprofessional way they were. I would like to be able to give the new owner of my house a nice front porch, but I am afraid to call them again as I am sure I will not receive a return call. I think we will look on here for someone else to do the work.
Description of Work: We hired Southern Concrete Raising because the sidewalk meeting the foundation slab in the front of the house was sagging. We wanted to remove the trip hazard and correct the sinking due to soil erosion and washout.

I got a quick response on my request for quote. An estimator came to my house the next day and performed an evaluation of my sidewalk and driveway while I was away from the house. He called me and have me a descriptive detail about the work to be performed and gave me the quote. He also left a detailed quote for me on my door for when I returned home. The price was higher than I was anticipating, which is why I didn't hire them to do the work. I would recommend them to others because of their fast and friendly service obtaining a quote.

Dale came in to provide the estimate. He seemed quite experienced and indicated that it would be a fairly straightforward job. He pointed out what needed to be done and what was optional. He gave me a quote right away and indicated that it could be done at an early date. I also got a quote from another reputed concrete raising company who indicated that I may not be completely satisfied once the work was done. That person seemed to indicate that perhaps I should consider the new concrete route. This put a bit of a doubt in my mind, but since Dale was quite emphatic that this was a straightforward job, I let him do it. I am glad to say that the work came out very satisfactorily. Southern concrete recommended mastic masters to do the expansion joint filling (whom we used as well) and the end result was quite pleasing. These guys are definitely good at what they do and I will not hesitate to use them in the future.

Their core job of slab-jacking went very well. They certainly seem to know what they are doing. They made about 100 perforations for underslab access to where they pumped the mud. My driveway was in very bad shape, with many parts raising over 3", it was trip hazard city. They did a good job of getting everything level and safe. It's not like new, but your not paying like new prices. I was left with some wide expansion joints, up to 3" I had those taken care of by Mastic Masters (which is an A+ company). I'd like to make future possible clients aware of the following, because nobody told me: They do not supply their own power. They used high current drawing machinery to make the perforations, among other tools, and they did this from my power source. I was never told that they would be using my power. If it was my company, I would be sure that the customer knew that I would be leeching power from their plugs. Using a small amount is one thing, but this was an especially large amount, all day long. They do not supply their own water. They used only what I can estimate to be at least 500 gallons of water that I paid for. They got to the job site and just helped them self to my hose off the reel like they owned the place. They used it to continuously spray into mud mixer, and used it to spray down all the surfaces, all day long. Again, I was never made aware that they would be using my resources for their job. They do not supply their own hoses: They used my hose in the backyard, and they damaged it. This wasn't a cheap hose either, it was an $60+ 100 ft. hose that was a year old. I contacted them about it, sent them pictures of the freshly damaged hose that was squirting water all over the place from the middle where they apparently nicked it with heavy machinery or tool. They never got back to me. Therfore, when they give you an estimate and they give you the 10% off, well just add that back in for electricity, water, and possible damaged property that may not get replaced. The above three dings are not egregious, but does come off as unprofessional. For these reasons, I can't in good consceince give them an overall "good" rating, even though the core job, the slab jacking, went very well. They did leave the place clean, the smokers on-site were good about not leaving there butts on the ground, and the place was at least as tidy as they found it.
Description of Work: SCR raised up qty 16, 9' wide x 6' long driveway panels. They also raised up 8-10 smaller sized panels around the permiter of the pool. They also "stabilized" part of the pool decking. This was an area of the deck that had not yet moved, they sold me that it was a good idea to pump the mud to prevent it from moving. In hindsight I probably would not have paid for this, but then again who knows, maybe it will save me future trouble.

They were very nice and pleasant to work with. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves before they left. The two gentleman were wonderful to work with.
Description of Work: We had some cracks in our patio. We had pea gravel that was cracking along the expansion joint. They raised the area and patched the pea gravel. They also fixed another small patch area. You can't even tell where the patching happened at.
The estimator, Dale, was on-time. The repair crew (3 guys) was also on-time. The work crew proceeded to work immediately. They mixed a fill slurry to use for the raising and back-filling the area to be repaired. The crew leader drilled 70 holes to pump mud into and raise the old concrete. Work proceeded until all areas were filled and stabilized. All three men worked to clean the drive and their equipment. One man did the drilled holes patch. This repair of the existing concrete was a very reasonable alternative to replacing the driveway. Replacement estimates were over $10K. There has been no significant settling of the driveway. My next step is to have the cracks repaired and filled. Dale provided me a nunber for a specialty company. Southern Concrete Raising did a fine job.
Description of Work: The drought 2 years ago left my driveway with 2 major cracks. Dale, the estimator for Southern Concrete Raising, proposed raising and leveling the 2 major areas and filling voids and stabilizing my entire driveway. The bid was accepted.

and left a clean Contacted Southern Concrete Raising based on Angie's List and was definitely not disappointed. After coming out for a free estimate, I was given a reasonable quote for both pool panels and driveway extension. Due to the rain, they would need to be scheduled on separate days. The pool panel leveling looked great and was done with 3 days. The driveway extension was scheduled out about 2 weeks and was completed in 2 days. The crew was professional and courteous and left a clean job site after completion. I would definitely recommend Southern Concrete Raising to a friend and would use them again in the future!

We need a driveway poured, approximately 1300 square feet. Dale returned our call right away, made an appointment for an estimate and came exactly when he said. He was very nice and very professional. He told us up front that his company was higher than most but we never expected the quote we received. He said he would give us a discount but the discount he applied was only 5% which we believed for the amount of money the job was costing didn't seem like much of a discount. We checked with some neighbors that have had concrete work done, got a bid from their concrete company and it was $9000 cheaper for the exact same job as quoted by Dale. We have seen several jobs performed by this new company, they do excellent work and came highly recommended as well, we were just covering our bases by getting more than one estimate. I'm sure Southern Concrete Raising does excellent work as well but for that price difference??

Response from Southern Concrete Raising Inc
[removed member name], Foremost, we sincerely regret that you have received a seemingly disappointing estimate from us; We provided you with an estimate for : - Removal of 2 tree stumps - Excavation of 4" of the land soil, debris, etc. - wood frame and reinforce with #3 rebar on 16" centers w/full risers - Pour 1300 sq ft. of 3000 psi concrete - full dowel to existing concrete with a 30'x2' ramp addition off extension Now, if you have found someone to provide you the above, whom is fully licensed, fully insured, will use fresh concrete delivered from a real tumbler-truck (vs. ready-mix & wheel barrel), will take 1-2 days at most, and whom will stand behind their work, and include all taxes, permitting fees, debris removal and full haul-off, for just over $10 sq.ft., THEN THAT'S A GOOD THING for you; why such a negative effort here then? I can not apologize for my pricing (you are fairly South for us as well, geographically) as our fair and honest practices have always served us and our customers well, and this is the First complaint of such we have received. But I do wonder why it has angered you to the point of giving us an Overall grade of 'D'....? If your total price for the Same above job is Truly just $5k (or less then $4 sq.ft.) then hopefully you have an awesome economy-driven local deal, I would just pre-confirm some of the aforementioned details above. Good luck [removed member name].
