It took 3 calls over 4 months to get a cost estimate on the work. After they finally scheduled to come out and provide a cost estimate, it was then scheduled for approximately three months later due to their work load. The work was performed poorly so that the two sections of the driveway will now have to be replaced. While performing the work to raise the two settled sections, they damaged several of the other adjacent panels. One of the two panels raised was cracked during the process, the number of holes drilled through the two panels was far more than was indicated by the salesman, and the edges were all chipped up when prying the wood from the expansion joints. Overall, the two sections looked worse than before the work was performed. I stopped payment on the check and contacted them to get someone to come look at the results. They sent a manager out promptly a few days after the request and he agreed that the work was substandard. We verbally agreed to a new price for complete replacement of the two sections and said he would contact me about the date the work would be performed. I have made attempts to contact them about the scheduled time for the work but cannot get responses after 6-7 weeks.
Description of Work: Raised two 10'x10' sections of my driveway that had settled.

It's a little bit on an expensive side. They were very organized. These people who came were like ten guys who spent three hours to do this. Everybody has a job. One team was the one who opens the holes, one team drills the holes and one team seals the holes. At the end, they took an hour and a half to clean up all the equipment. They cleaned up all their stuff. When they come to me, the equipment is clean. When they leave, the equipment is clean. Not a lot of companies do that. I would use them again.

Mr. [remove member name], I will keep this one short- (I have all documents, sales communication, tickets and phone logs); You WERE scheduled for December 4th, we (I MYSELF) called you 3 times the day (and night) prior as a reminder, NO answer, then your Sales person Mark asked that we still please show up that he was sure it was just a glitch, then we called another 3 times THAT morning WHILE waiting in front of your house- my guys wanted to do the job, even spoke to a neighbor, but I called it off. So, after coming to your home and giving you a free estimate, placing you within a few weeks on our calendar that is booked out till February, HOLDING that spot for you that went unfilled that day, calling you many times to remind you, AND showing up at your home to wait.... we get this. Not a phone call to Mark your salesperson, me the owner, or even our general office, ALL numbers available to YOU and everyone else at all times, but a long wait, followed by an "F"- well [remove member name], with respect to quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism, WE Southern Concrete Raising, give YOU an 'F!". Angies Lister's: As you know, we here at SCR value and respect ALL of our customers, and do sincerely regret ANY negative experiences with us, but it is truly is a customer-contractor RELATIONSHIP, not a servitude. It went very well. They were on time, very professional and explained what they were going to do before they performed the services; explained how long I needed to allow before driving on my driveway, and provided me with a barrier to keep other people from using my driveway before it was ready. And best of all, there was no clean-up by me after they left. They cleaned up and removed any excess debris

SCR did fine but I took exception with Mark the salesman who did not explain to me that to properly complete the job we needed to contact another company to seal the slab separations for another additional cost averaging $300.-$600! We were under impression that SCR did the whole job. We talked on the phone several times before the day of service and nothing was every mentioned. We're not the professionals so we didn't know to specifically ask that. Thus budget restraints and scheduling conflicts have put this "2nd step" on hold.
Description of Work: The work crew came out on time and did what they were suppose to do. They were great and finished well before the time we thought. We had some driveway slabs that needed raising/leveling. As well as sidewalks leading up to our front door.

This is a final update of a prior review. As contracted, the company attempted to level and stabilize my driveway. The initial work was performed in Sept. on one of the rainiest days of the year. The drive looked really good that evening, but the slabs shifted overnight. Second and third attempts were made to fix the shifting, including having a mastic company come in to finish the joints, fill the cracks, etc. Unfortunately, the final result is far less than anticipated for the money paid.

I moved in to my house in July and my insurance company threatened to drop me if I didn't have my driveway leveled. It was very uneven and I tripped on it myself several times. I called around and honestly chose Southern Concrete because I had to get it done ASAP and they were available earlier than anyone else I talked to. They were in line with most everyone else I talked to price-wise. They were very professional, timely and did a great job! I would definitely recommend them and would use them again if needed. Hopefully I won't need them again, but it is good to know I will be taken care of it I do.

I think that the job went very well. They showed up on time and got right to work. They had to drill quite a few holes and pump in the mixture to get the driveway level and flat. Because of the drought, some of the pieces of the driveway have moved a little, but I think that is to be expected around here. This is not the same as having a new driveway poured, but it is a lot cheaper and faster. I would use them again.

[member name removed] job was indeed very small, and he has a special (old-fashioned) stamping and orange coloring that we needed to secure in order to do his job; we did so (on temp loan) from another company. The day prior to [member name removed] job we seemingly had another good chance of some rain, when we called to let him know we would see him the next day, but maybe a little later in the day due to some delays, we did not get him so just left him a message letting him know such. [member name removed] had apparently returned our call, but we were just out of the office and did not receive it (though we gave her the reminder call just before we left the office)- this apparently, when we did not show up first thing in the morning, got her seemingly very upset. She called to let me know- I asked her two things: 1) please try to control the emotion and negative attitude in her words and suggestions and 2) please allow me to explain... well, half way through my explanation she said she wasn't interested in hearing 'all of this stuff, and details...." she simply said "Are you coming or not!"- at that point I did what I always do in these situations- I thanked her for calling us, for her time, but I respectfully requested that she seek service from another company, I then said "God Bless, and goodbye". The rest is pretty predictable: the "Mr." calls me back saying "What's your problem?" Of course when I was only a sentence into the explanation (Yes, I tried to salvage it again, but with him because I hadn't ever seen or spoke to his wife prior to that incident, and against my own advice and practice, but I loathe to see anyone leave SCR with a negative experience) [member name removed] in a not so adult-like manner started calling me a "Fool" repeatedly, for not wanting his business; My faith lead me down one last road- I said "[member name removed], let's just stop- I can come do your job RIGHT NOW" - he didn't believe me and started letting me know what he thought of that and me, but as soon as I started hearing the additional comments (I won't share here) and [now] threats, I just hung up. Simply Unprofessional, and border line uncivilized. Southern Concrete Raising sincerely regrets any negative experience that ANYONE has with us, but I certainly do not regret the decisions I made above, with exception perhaps to trying that one last time, because I was sickened by the real-life mankind results of such. There is simply too much unnecessary hatred in this world. Decide for yourselves and Be well Angie's Lister's.

Every part of the process, from initial meeting for an estimate to completion of job far exceeded my expectations. The work turned out considerably better than I anticipated. In fact, our original reason for leveling the deck was to prepare for an an overlay but the end result looks so nice we've decided to just redo the expansion joints and leave it as is.

I contacted the provider through Angie's List and had followup conversations with their representative, John. He came at a convenient time and we discussed the work needed, and he provided a written estimate. A few days later we confirmed that we wanted the work done. The crew arrived on schedule and confirmed that we wanted the work done. They were done a few hours later. We got exactly what was promised--a level driveway without cutting the tree roots. The cost was only 15% of what a new driveway would have cost us, and they were happy to do the work. I can recommend their work without any reservation.

I called them, and they came out. I wasn’t even there when the gentleman wrote the estimate, but he left it in my mailbox. I looked at it, thought the price was reasonable, and they came out on time. I was there to watch for them. They explained to me what they were going to do, and they went right to work. I explained that I was concerned due to a water line running under the driveway. They reassured me that even if something was to happen that would damage the water main, they would replace it. They leveled out the work and got it completed in a very short time. I was very pleased with the work. Thankfully, there were no problems with the water main. The price seemed reasonable. I have no way of judging the quality just yet but it looks good so far. The workers were all very professional about what they did, took responsibility for the job being done right, and they cleaned up after themselves.

The homeowner's association worked with Southern in sending out mailers to the homeowners. Southern offered a special volume discount to any homeowner who signed up. Once we got responses back from the homeowners, we turned these over the Southern. Southern did the rest in contacting each homeowner. Southern performed the work on two separate days. The second day was for followup of additional customer inquiries. Southern was very responsive to all of our questions. We have heard no complaints from the individual homeowners. This was a win-win for both our neighborhood and Southern.
Description of Work: We arranged to have Southern provide sidwalk and driveway concrete leveling services to homeowners in our subdivision. About 70 homeowners signed up. In addition, Southern provided concrete leveling of several sidwalk sections in the common area of the subdivision.

Although our job was small compared to a full drive or road type work - we feel they treated us very well and did an excellent job. We needed to add to an existing driveway, to make an extra parking space for where we Installed an electric vehicle charging station. They were on time, and very professional through many weeks of rain and reschedule. I appreciated all of the updates and communication -as well as the last minute change that made to make the project more sustainable in the long run. They did a great job and even though my job was small, they still gave me a discount for being on Angies List. I will hire them again to work on our new home build as well as a re-drive for an older rental house that we have. Very happy.

We have a large, beautiful old oak in the front yard that had broken up a section of our driveway and tilted our sidewalks topsy turvy. Our front walk had just plain sunk into the ground in front of our porch and we had made a bridge out of bricks to be able to cross. Rich Faust was friendly, professional and honorable in his dealings with us. He gave us the best quote of the four companies we interviewed. Not only was the price very fair, but Rich was knowledgeable and clear in his explanation. In addition, Rich stuck to his original quote even though it turned out that we would need a costly permit to begin work. Since he was not aware of this when delivering the quote, he did not charge us for the permit cost! The raising and leveling was done quickly and well in one morning. The driveway took longer, of course. The old crushed and broken pieces of driveway were hauled off. The new driveway was framed with wood and reinforced with rebar : "in 12" - 15" centers." We were concerned because as the driveway started to dry, it began to crumble at the edges. But Rich sent someone out to look at it right away and he assured us that the driveway was solid and reinforced correctly and the situation was cosmetic only. Work started on Monday March 1 and we were expecting to have the job finished up (frame removed, curb repaired) by the following Friday, but it took a few extra days for the concrete guy to get to us. The job was finished up by the following Monday. It wasn't really a problem, but there was a bit of phone tag and a few missed appts. That's why I rated punctuality a "B." But Rich always answered the phone, every time we called, even on Sunday! He was always responsive, professional and got the job done. We have had many compliments on our new driveway! We have given Rich's contact information to several neighbors already. And my mom can walk down our front walk now without tripping! It all looks very very nice and we are very satisfied! The one thing I didn't know is that you have to fill in the sides of the driveway with soil. I have twisted my foot a few times getting in and out of the car because there is an empty crevice between the edge of driveway and where the grass begins. The concrete guy said he would fill in these crevices, and I think he did, partly. But you may want to plan on having some extra topsoil around to fill in the edges. Also once the concrete is raised - you want to keep as much water out as possible. Since our sidewalk is so old, there is no longer anything between the slabs of sidewalk. Water can pour into these divisions and also, just for cosmetic reasons, it's nice to see something between the slabs. Rich was great and gave us the number for Magic Mastik - who will come out and put mastik ( the black stuff) in between the slabs for a great price of $125. The downside - which is no big deal as this is not an emergency - is that our little sidewalk project is very small and we have to wait for a bigger project to surface in the neighborhood before they'll come out to do the work. However, they came out right away for the estimate and the owner is very friendly and professional. Like I said, it's not a problem waiting. But this is just something that might be helpful to know if you're planning driveway or sidewalk repair. Also some of the sidewalks slabs have this gray clay mashed up against the side - that you can't remove for at least three weeks or water may get underneath and cause the slabs to sink again. Once the mush is good and dry, you can remove the unsightly clay and pack this area with topsoil as well. At least that's what I've been told. So you may want to stock up on some topsoil or have your gardener bring a few extra bags to pack into the crevices along the drive or along the sidewalks once all the work is finished and completely dry. All in all, a very positive experience! I should have taken a picture of before. Our driveway was full of crumbling holes and our sidewalks were almost unusable - now we have a lovely smooth drive and walkways ( the crumbling issue was resolved adequately). All the neighbors comment on our lovely driveway and don't have to cross the street when they walk their dogs on our sidewalks. We are grateful to Rich and to Southern Concrete Raising for great work at a great price!!
