This company was unable to install the HVAC system properly. Load calculations were based on assumptions and rules of thumb. Because of this, a very simple and straightforward install was compromised. The unit was effectively undersized, duct work is incorrect, return air is inadequate and the unit is unable to function as expected. They literally connected a return air grilled to the return air plenum with a 14" duct that was at least 10 feet long. The plenum is 3 feet from the grille!!! It has a tight switchback in it and the return air box is not deep enough to be effective. I had to be present during install give THEM pointers proper installation, and still it wasn't able to be done right. Plenum had to be redesigned because the wrong size was used. Poor cooling ability in one room resulted in them putting a duct off the END of the plenum. The plenum was not large enough to support all of the ducts coming off of it, so they just stuck it on the end. Very wrong. They used subcontractors to assemble things on my porch, most of whom spoke no english or had ANY clue about HVAC work. The unit leaks air at several connections. It literally frightens me to have them out for repairs due to shear incompetence. At one time, I had considered having another contractor fix the mistakes on my dime. I can use Google and Youtube to fix some of these mistakes, and I would prefer that. This company seemingly hired random laborers for install and repair. HVAC knowledge about airflow, heat transfer, load requirements, duct/plenum design, etc. was severely lacking. Second, third and fourth opinions from other contractors have confirmed the poor install. Installer competence is paramount to any AC brand. If the install is poor, the unit is poor and will not be efficient or effective.
Description of Work: This company was used by a contractor for HVAC install. Very simple install. Load calculations were assumed, not formally calculated, all ductwork was done by 'experience', and the install was very poor.

My sister took a half day of vacation to be available for the time frame they said they would arrive within. They were a no call no show. She had to call at 7 pm that night to find out what happened and they guaranteed they would come April 25th at 1pm. They assured her they would be at her house at 1:00' definitely. Never showed , never called and she we called the answering service, no one called us back. There are too many companies out there that want our business.
Description of Work: Nothing, he never showed up even the second time.they

We started this process last summer and I hope finally concluded last week. My experience included an estimated 20 visits to my home. Easily the WORST business I have ever had to deal with in my life. Here are my issues: 1. First many of the "technicians" that came to house were inept. They came out on many occasions and always had a different theory on what was wrong and how to resolve the issue. 2. They sent employees to my house that spoke very little English making it difficult if not impossible to communicate. 3. There was no communication amongst their employees. Every time someone came out, we were starting all over again because that person had not talked to the last person that came out. 4. They scheduled many appointments and never showed up or called to re-schedule, thus wasting days of my time. 5. At times, some of the employees were not friendly. One example of this was recently when they scheduled an appointment to show up between 8-12. They didn't show up until after 12:00 as coincidentally my wife was leaving to run errands. They asked if they could do work then. My wife explained that she had sat around all morning, but now she had to run errands. The employee was upset as if it was her fault the work wasn't being accomplished. I called their supervisor explaining this situation and I received no return phone call. In conclusion, I was forced to use BMI. If anyone was thinking of hiring BMI, I would say there are plenty of better alternatives.
Description of Work: We were forced to deal with the contractor as part of our home warranty from DR Horton. We had issues we the upstairs bedrooms not heating and cooling equally compared to remainder of the house.

Excellent service from this company. Prompt and professional. The HVAC on my rental home went out completely over the weekend they were able to come that Tuesday after approval from the landlord to install a new system. They arrived early and worked efficiently until the unit was installed. They took precautions to protect the carpet and other areas while they were working. The owner Mike came at the beginning of the work and came by after it was completed without to inspect for any problems and familiarize us with the unit. I would definitely reccomend them.
Description of Work: Buiders Mechanical installed a new HVAC system on the rental house I am living in. Including interior unit and exterior compressor unit. I cannot comment on price as it is a rental home and bill was paid by the landlord.

My first experience with this company--I won the service in a radio call-in contest. The technician was Saul Grimaldo who was outstanding. Personable, professional and patient. Answered my many questions, offered advice and details that other companies hadn't bothered to communicate; no pressure to sell additional services or items; in fact, told me certain services were not necessary at this time in response to my specific inquiries and offered services and prices in specific response to my concerns (drain pan overflow). I was so pleased with Saul that I signed up for a spring/fall service contract ($150). I would definitely use this company again--if Saul is representative of the company's standards and ethics, you can't go wrong using BMI's services

Service provided: HVAC checkup ($85 normal cost; -0- to me) Install float w/cutoff switch in case drain pan in danger of overflowing $45. Service contract (spring & fall services) $150.
