We had to reschedule installation the first time due to going out of town. Allied was very flexible and had no problem doing that for us. Juan is very nice. He and his crew of two spent the next day-and-a-half working away. At my request, they wore shoe covers when coming inside to protect my new floors, which I appreciated. Some bricks fell off in a thin area around our breakfast nook from all of the disruption, but the brick man was out bright and early the next morning and did an excellent job repairing the area. I did find some glass and other debris inside and out that was missed during cleanup, but not too big of a deal. The only thing I can say that I was not completely happy with is the putty around the windows was messy. We'll have to come back with touch up paint to make it look right. I definitely think that part could have been done more professionally. Also, I would have preferred being sent a survey a day or so after the job was completed and I'd had time to fully assess the work. I did not like being asked to fill it out right in front of the crew manager. Just those few little complaints, but otherwise, we're very happy with our new windows and would recommend Allied to others.

After an awful 3 months dealing with a competitor, I was back to shopping windows and called Allied. I'd actually spoken to them months before and the sales guy, Greg, remembered me. He came over and gave me a quote and was very friendly. I asked for some references of similar type jobs and there was one just a few blocks away that I walked to and checked out. The owner wasn't pleased that his information was shared without his permission, but otherwise he had good things to say about Allied. I wanted some assurances so he had the installer/manager guy Rick came over. Rick really sold me on the company. He knew what he was talking about and he explained how they were going to install the windows (something that the competitor did not do.) It was a particularly difficult job which I was upfront with, but Rick had experience with it. Rick kept in touch with me and responded when he said he would. He let me know when the windows arrived and then we scheduled the work. I ended up getting them installed 3 weeks early (and on my birthday weekend too! Yay!) because they had an opening. Because of the complexity of the install, the job took 2 days; so the crew were out on a Sunday which they didn't complain about. They cleaned up after themselves, were very polite, and put up with my questions and additional requests. Really great job. The finished product is amazing. I live on a busy street and the new windows have seriously reduced the noise levels. I'm sure they'll help with the A/C bills in the summer but my main reason to upgrade was noise and they really deliver. My father recommended Allied to me initially (I really, really should have gone with them) and I'm definitely going to recommend them to my neighbors and friends. I'll recommend the competitor to people I dislike.

Thanks for the detailed reference. We're sorry that you had challenges with a competitor, but we're glad that we took excellent care of you. Greg has been with Allied Siding & Windows for many years, and he takes great care with ensuring that we deliver excellent service from beginning to end. Allied fully understands that the installer experience and knowledge level is essential to providing excellent service. That's one of the reasons that we pull them out of the field every quarter for training. In fact, most of our installers are going through training right now with representatives from Simonton. Most of our installers are experienced enough to teach the course, but we believe that refresher training is important to maintain our high standards. If you know of anyone else needing similar service, refer them to Allied at 713-WINDOWS. Make sure they mention your name so you can earn a referral bonus!

The only reason we went with another company was purely financial. Another AL company underbid Allied and we just had to go with them, all things being equal. Tom and Woody from Allied were absolutely the perfect salesmen, and we're totally committed to giving us as much information as we requested. Tom made at least two home visits, and did the best he was allowed to do on the price. Other smaller company we chose, apparently had more room to negotiate.

Thank you for your comments, and we're sorry that you weren't impressed with your service team. All of our installers are trained by the manufacturer, and they install per the manufacturer's best practices. Sometimes, people have different ideas in their minds about what installation/construction steps are to be followed and that creates some confusion. Typically, our crew leader will try to explain not just what they're doing, but why. We want our customers to be pleased with their project, and we also want their warranty to be protected. As a result, our installation procedures do not vary from the manufacturer's best practices. Allied is pleased to have an A+ rating with the BBB since 1988.

. The sales man was very informative and helpful. His quote was written up in detail and allowed me to know exactly what to expect of the completed job. The customer service I received was excellent. She guided me through the process, supplying me with the right contacts, dates, and answering all my questions. She was very professional and friendly. The workers were very polite and cleaned up after themselves every day. The foreman explained what work had been completed each day and detailed what would be worked on the next day. The workmanship of the job was outstanding. The workers all took pride in their work and they made sure, I, as the customer, was completely satisfied with each stage of the process. And they made sure I was happy with the finished job. I would highly recommend this company and asked them to list me as a reference. I already have one neighbor who has since signed a contract to have the same work done by Allied Siding and Windows(Dallas)to their home. And several other neighbors have stopped by and admired how my house looks. They were definitely impressed. I am an extremely happy customer with Allied and will continue to refer family and friends to them. Nancy

Beware. I spent $20k with Allied several years ago and one of the windows which has a lifetime warranty had condensation between the windows. Allied wanted to charge me $75 do come see if the window was really under warranty. To avoid additional fee of $75 I called Simionton Windows directly and they sent me a replacement window with no questions asked. When I asked Allied to come replace the window they still wanted to charge me $75. I guess they will try anything to get your money. I will be contacting Mand M Roofing and Siding to install my window. I know I can trust them and honestly I would rather pay any amount than to give Allied one my penny of my money. Greedy and dishonest.

Thanks for your candor, [Member Name Removed]. Allied works with individual homeowners to assess each person's individual needs. Allied offers a lifetime warranty on the installation - assuring each homeowner that the installation will be completely accurately and according to the manufacturer's best practices. Each of the manufacturers that we represent offer a warranty on their product. That warranty varies, depending upon the product and the manufacturer. Regular maintenance items are not covered. A good way to think of it is that if you buy a car, it will have a bumper-to-bumper warranty, but that won't cover maintenance items, such as brake pads and wiper blades. That said, we're sorry that you weren't a fan of Allied's service program. We are proud to have the very best service and warranty program in the home improvement business, and we try to be reasonable and helpful with every issue. In a case like you've described, most homeowners do not incur a fee. In the rare case that a window fogs between the panes, Allied would order the replacement window sash on the homeowner's behalf. It would be sent directly to the homeowner. Replacing a sash of a window is something that 99% of our customers are comfortable doing because of its simplicity. Thus, we rarely have a case where a service technician has to visit the home for sash replacement. Thanks again for your comments and for the opportunity to share Allied's warranty information.

Thank you for the comments and the review about our company. We try to measure very accurately, limiting the amount of siding that would be remaining after a job is completed. That said, the homeowner is welcome to keep any leftover siding, paint or trim that may remain. I apologize for the confusion with the installer not being aware of that. Most homeowners don't want the leftover pieces, but for those that do, there is absolutely no problem with us leaving them. Allied is proud to have an A+ rating with the BBB, and we're glad that you trusted us to do the work on your home.

The workers who completed the glass, window, and door work were wonderful. They were friendly, cordial, and professional, and I had no issues with them. They worked efficiently and even had all the window and door work completed in one day. Everything looks great, and they did a beautiful job. They also made sure to clean up after themselves each day, and even vacuumed after the work was done! My original plan for the siding, was to have only the siding that was rotting, replaced with HardiePlank. The siding worker did point out that replacing the rotting siding only would look funny around the garage area. This was very true, and I appreciated his honesty. The issue I had was with the project manager. He never came out to the job, or checked on the work. He did not return phone calls so I had to ask his managers to get answers to my questions. I did not feel like the project manager was very helpful. When it came time for the exterior painting, the painter did not plan to pressure wash the home, prior to painting it. I called the project manager inquire about this, and found out the painter did not have a pressure washer, so that needed to be purchased before the painting work could begin. The project manager also failed to communicate to me, that the painter was leaving the company to take on another job, and could only finish my job on the weekends. It ended up taking one solid week and two weekends to paint my one story home. The actual paint job did turn out well, despite how long it took to complete. All in all, the workers for the jobs were wonderful, it was just the way the job was managed that I disliked.
Description of Work: I used them for several jobs I needed done. They replaced my sliding glass doors and window panes in the living room and master bedroom. They also replaced the storm door on the front of the home, and put in a new threshold and replaced the wooden door on the side of my garage. I also had them tear out the sliding glass door in the living room, and replace it with a wall. They replaced some rotting wood siding with HardiePlank, and painted the exterior of my home.

It was just a bad experience. The guys that came were nice and worked hard, but the size of the job needed to be done by more experienced people perhaps. There should have been follow-up instead of hurrying through the job to get done.
Description of Work: They put in picture windows in my bedroom. They were the energy efficient windows and they looked great. I had to paint around the windows myself because they did such a sloppy job though. There was sheet rock damage and it had to be sanded and repainted. I called them and told them about it and they asked for me to take a picture and send it to them. Once I did it took quite some time for them to respond. I had to actually have a window replaced through the warranty company because there were scratches in the window.

Overall I was happy with the work however, I asked Darryn Finn if they could do some extra work in addition to the siding and windows. He said that I should work directly with the subcontractor Ted Sains. Ted gave me a bid to do the work and mid way asked for me to write a check. Stupid me, I did. He proceeded to adds things to his invoice which were a part of the work that Allied charged me for. When I tried to resolve this with Darryn he refused to help. Not only that he tried to make it confuse the issue of what was on the Allied contract and what Ted charged me for. I emailed the owner of the company but never got a response. Ted was tryingto charge me for $1500 for work that was covered in the Allied contract. He also stole my ladder. When I told Darryn about this Ted did bring back a ladder but it was not my nice clean ladder but a used and dirty ladder. I finally gave up fighting with these people.

We are confused by this information – 4 years after the project. When customers make ‘side arrangements’ with our installers, they assume liability for that work. I received bids from four companies and investigated them thoroughly. The job went very well. The crew arrived promptly each morning at 7:30 AM and worked until dark each day. Since I was having both siding and windows replaced, it took about 5 days. They were very courteous and pleasant to work with. The job leader was George and he did a great job keeping me informed of the progress each day and patiently answered all my questions. Customer satisfaction was very important to them and they cleaned up well each day. There was a minor problem when they installed one of the new doors. They made a small 3' crack in the wood laminate flooring at the threshold. They wanted me to believe the crack was already there, but when I pointed out they would have informed me of that when they began the installation if it were true, there was no argument. They paid the $200 fee it cost me to have the flooring replaced. Fortunately, I already had some laminate on hand from the installation several years ago. One large window had to be reordered due to a manufacturing defect. That window was replaced several weeks later due to a delay during the Christmas holidays, when the Simonton Plant shuts down for a week. I am very pleased with the quality and professionalism shown by Allied. I have already recommended them to a friend, who has decided to use them, also, after looking at several companies. It was a big investment, but I love my new windows and doors! Not only do they look nice, are more energy efficient, but I feel much safer due to the thickness of glass and better installation than the builder grade windows, I was replacing. The screens fit tightly so I can enjoy opening the windows occasionally without being concerned bugs could get in the house. I look forward to the ease of cleaning by tilting them inward, when the time comes. Thanks, Allied Siding and Windows!
Description of Work: Allied replaced both windows and siding on my home. They installed 34 Simonton Generation Windows and two Therma Tru doors with blinds. We recently had a very unsatisfactory experience with Allied Siding and Windows, now known as Allied Custom Homes. We contracted with them for a stamped concrete deck in back and a stamped concrete overlay at the front entrance. The job was to take 2 weeks; it actually took 2 months and twenty days. I was concerned up our lawn being torn up by the concrete being moved to the back. I was promised the crew would put down boards to protect the grass. No boards, we now have torn up grass and deep ruts in the lawn. I asked about non-English speaking crews and was assured there would be at least one English speaking member in each crew. No one in the concrete crew spoke English. There is, or was, an Azalea border at one end of the deck. We asked that special attention be paid to the bushes. Half were trampled down. We asked if the front and back would be done at the same time. We were told they would not. They ended up being done at the same time so we spent three days climbing in and out of a window in order to leave the house. I’m 71 and my wife is 66, not the easiest thing in the world to do. Before any work was started Mike Haisten of Pattern Pro Concrete showed up and told us that Allied had given him the job. No notice from Allied. Mike came out twice with the wrong dimensions for the deck even after I had contacted Allied after the first time. There seemed to be a total lack of communication between Allied and Mike. Mike’s crews caused numerous problems which we reported to Allied but the response always came from Mike. Allied never checked on the progress of the job and never sent anyone from Allied to address the problems cause by Mike Haisten’s crews even after Mike insulted us by accusing us of seeing things, fabricating stories and outright lying about things. The last email from Allied promised to set up a meeting with a representative from Allied and Mike to look at the problems but only Mike showed up. Allied sold the job, turned it over to a sub-contractor and then totally washed their hands of the project. While we have settled with them just to get them to go away, other people should be made aware of the way Allied treats their customers. Why did we not stop the work when these problems arose? At that point in time we were so tired of the whole thing we just wanted to get it done and over with.

We know we are not perfect and we make mistakes. The difference with Allied is that when something goes wrong we don’t ignore it and we make it right. I’m surprised to see this posting since we took several measures to address Member’s concerns. Some other facts about this job include: • The customer delayed two pour dates for pest spray • We did not collect any money until the job was complete • We offered to make corrections / repairs / replacements to anything he had concerns about – he refused • In the end, the customer short paid a significant amount – perhaps the goal all along • The use of sub-contractors is standard in the industry • The customer demanded all the work be performed at once – due to Allied, weather and homeowner delays As the owner of Allied, I personally spoke to Member on several occasions. I’m sorry for the problems and his dissatisfaction. However, we did not ignore the situation; we did not collect money and run; we did not demand full payment and in the end we offered to do anything to satisfy the customer. It went great. They cleaned up after themselves everyday and did the house in sections so it would be protected from the weather.
Description of Work: They removed my old shakes and replaced the siding with Hardi Plank. They also put insulation in the walls and replaced rotting fascia boards and painted the entire outside.

One of the worst experiences in remodeling we have had! Although this work was performed in 2009, we are still upset over the way they handled business and feel the need to share it with others. When we started the process we were told if we did business with Allied Siding and Windows, we would receive a Best Buy gift card for $150.00. We did business with them, but what we received was a $150.00 discount called Best Buy (that should have been our warning.) The work started on time, but what was suppose to take two weeks to complete, took 3-4 months.A few examples of issues are: Tile was broken in a window seal, and one of the and quot;foremanand quot; told me he would put it back. Days later, he told me I could put it back in and quot;it was real easy to doand quot;. I ended up having to put the tile back in after I went and bought them. When the workers lost an outside electrical wall plate cover, I ask them to replace it with one like it. They replaced it with an inside decorative wall plate. I ask them to install the lock on the bottom slide portion of the new patio sliding glass door and they told me there wasn't one to install. I told them I had just seen it in the box on the table, they said I had not seen it. After insisting they find it, it reappeared (seems someone stuck it in the trunk of his car). Day after day, the workers would not show up. Sometimes they would call to say why they weren't coming (baby sick, flat tire etc..) and sometimes I had to call to find out if they were coming to work or not. One foreman was supposedly fired for some of these issues and another, who turned out to be just as bad, showed up. The new foreman also showed up when and if he wanted to and there were issues with his work ethics as well. Currently we have spots all over the siding where nail heads were covered up with and quot;matchingand quot; caulking and every time we drive into the driveway, the caulking shines like a beam in the night. Also, some windows are hard to close and lock, but we are not sure it is worth having this company come out to repair.
Description of Work: Tore out old windows & wood from home. Installed new Simonton windows & siding on home.

While every customer is important to us here at Allied, we recognize and regret that circumstances occur which may result in customer dissatisfaction. We can’t say that we’re going to be perfect every time; although, we certainly work for that to be the case. However, when something goes wrong, we make it right, period. Happy customers are the cornerstone to our success and we regret that any customer’s experience is less than satisfactory. While we have over many thousand satisfied customers, seldom times, customer dissatisfaction occurs and when it does, it is of great concern to us here at Allied.

I had the company give me a bid on replacing all the windows in a recently purchased rental house. After installation I called to ask about two windows that were not replaced in the breakfast area. An email from the rep indicated that all windows were replaced and I may be mistaken. I was not. When I pushed the issue the rep came back out and explained that these were not windows. I am not a window professsional. I am simply a homeowner. It looks like a window...glass...wood...in the wall of a house. That is a window to me.The company eventually sent a supervisor out. Nice man. He explained it would be an additional cost to replace them. When I emailed the manager in charge that I would not entertain a settlement that involved any charge to myself...the settlement process was stopped.Bottom line...I asked for a bid to replace ALL the windows. The rep did not tell me at the time of the bid that these 'windows' were not included in the bid. No mention of additional cost was noted to replace them. It is my opinion that the company should have replaced them at no addtional cost to me. I trusted them to do a professional bid and to deliver me a price for total replacement. They did not.
Description of Work: Install eleven windows and 1 sliding glass door.

The crew showed up promptly and did an OK job taking the old windows out. Some window sills were gouged, some plaster around the windows themsleves was knocked out due to the excessive hammering/banging. Some ceramc tiles were knocked out of the master bath from the same excessive force. At our request/expense, we substitued privacy windows in the bathrooms as the water from the shower was collecting in the tracks where the windows slide in/out. Allied did not finish the exterior trimming of these 2 windows for 3 months until I complained about it, citing they didn't have the right color hardiplank to frame the windows. I had to have the foreman, Dewey come out to look at the problems, follows by the owner, Leonard, but only after I posted negative feedback on BBB. Allied had to come back and recaulk all the windows citing "the caulk must have shrunk due to a bad batch of caulk". There were gaps between the new windows and the window frames that had to be fixed. At the time of installation, I noticed ALL the windows had wavy water/dust seals at the bottom the windows. The Simonton field rep came out 3 times with the same seals that looked terrible. The Simonton rep just left this afternoon saying there is nothing they can do to fix it, this is how their subcontractor in Illinois makes them. DO NOT BUY SIMONTON WINDOWS, they are unable to commit to the quality product I would expect for having paid this amount of money
Description of Work: We had 4 companies come out to bid on replacing our 35 year old single pane windows. We chose Allied because Nolan Ryan backed their product on their brochures and Allied seemed to have a superior product over the other contractors. We had 18 windows replaced with double pane argon-filled windows manufactured by Simonton windows.
