Description of Work: First time they retiled a bathroom floor; second time, they painted my garage door and external shutters.

Description of Work: Start by saying I did not use this group for any work. But I did have multiple (three or four) detailed conversations with them (Greg) over the phone. He was prompt returning my calls, and spent a significant amount of time talking with me about options, process, general pricing, etc... So as it relates to communication and responsiveness, these guys are great.

Description of Work: I spoke with them over the phone and we scheduled a time for them to come out to go over the remodel we wanted to do on our house. They never showed up or returned phone calls after the appointment date.

Description of Work: Rebuilt a closet and bathroom after extensive hidden termite damage.

Description of Work: Repaired flood damage and built an office and a new closet and painted, repaired wood floors and installed carpet and built a garage cupboard. Did an amazing job.

Description of Work: A leaky roof and subsequent damage to interior drywall and door trim was repaired.

Description of Work: Greg built a 600' cottage to match my existing home. He had foundation engineered, arranged for subcontractors (who were all excellent), and was top notch in communicating choices and progress. This is a builder who gets things done and has a sense of urgency in his progress - rare traits! The quality of work was exceptional and after 6 months we have not had a single problem with the cottage. Greg suggested efficiency items that are saving me money in heating and cooling too. I would absolutely use Black & White Construction again. I just wish my $500k home was as well built as my new cottage is.

Description of Work: At my parents house Greg built a brand new garage, while in this process he did a new roof for my parents as well as put in a concrete pad for some additional work my parents want to do one day, while in all of this he came over to my house to perform a few handy man jobs that I needed. We are in the process of getting a estimate for the addition that my parents are wanting to do.

Description of Work: Called and spoke to Alyssa the receptionist about needing an estimate where we are purchasing our home in Willis-she assured me it was within Mr Simmons work area, but according to Mr. Simmons it apparently is not-we did not even get a bid/estimate out of him.

Description of Work: Enclosed an open "bonus" room with glass french doors. Constructed two small closets. Installed a custom fixed window into a second-level opening. Installed new trim, fresh paint.

Description of Work: I had water damage to my house due to a roof problem. I contacted Greg of Black and White Construction and he made arrangements to go out and take a look at what work would need to be done. He was there when he said he would be and actually found more than the insurance adjuster did. He even did a second inspection with myself and the insurance adjuster, as I live out of town and he wanted to make sure I was aware of everything that would need to be done. He has really be awesome. A GOD SEND!!! If I ever need anything else done again, he will be the first person I call. Oh, he is very resonably priced. And it included everything that the insurance said had to be done. He even offered his assistance with dealing with the insurance company and mortgage company restrictions if necessary. Love, Love ,LOVE this company!!!!

Description of Work: Greg and his crew tore out the existing flooring (approximately 1600 sq feet) in our first floor and replaced it with stained concrete.

Description of Work: Greg built a shed for the back yard. This shed was an energy star rated shed with full brick on the outside and a dog door on the left hand side with and angled slope so the dogs do not have to jump to get in and out of the house. The front side of the shed has two french doors that open outward.

Description of Work: I had an electrical issue in one of my occupied rental properties. All of the kitchen outlets went dead and knocked out most of the appliances. It was rather urgent to get repairs done since there were tenants living there. I called Black and White Construction (my go-to company) and was referred to an electrician because of the urgent nature of the situation.

Description of Work: Sheet rock repairs, mildew repair, painting. Attic ladder replaced.

Description of Work: Black and White Construction did a fantastic job on my house. The external masonry repair job was perfect. No small feat, considering the type of brick used on the house was discontinued. Greg's estimate seemed fair and even though extra effort was used to try to find the same brick, he kept to the estimate. Well done! I love doing business with people like Greg. Description of Work: Black and White Construction has done multiple jobs around my home including, replacing an exterior door, install security lights, installation of a solar powered "attic fan" to help control my costs to keep my home cool in the summer. I recently purchased an investment property that needed a major renovation. The house was built in 1983, had been vacant for at least 3 years, there were holes in the siding where the "critters" had chewed holes thru the siding and the walls to get inside. The last owner must have had a really BIG dog that was allowed to chew on the block panneled walls. The shower in the master bathroom had "not aged well" and needed to gutted and rebuilt. The front walk was nothing short of a hazard, the tree roots buckled the pea gravel walkway, it was uneven with huge cracks throughout the 27 year old concrete walk. The main water line from the meter to the house was toast! It leaked so badly, the water department would not turn on the water. All of the bathrooms needed updating as did the kitchen. Black and White Construction owner, Greg Simmons came to the house to measure and to give me an estimate, which included a scope of work, when he expected to have all the work done and of course the cost involved. I asked several general contractors to do the same, while most responded, Greg was the only one that showed enough interest to actually go the house, and we did a "walk-thru" he pointed out all the "hidden repairs" that a home inspector would report to the mortgage company that could prevent the bank from funding a loan. Greg knew that I had a limited budget and took the time to help me priortize the all the tasks to insure that the repairs were worked in according to their priority. Greg's team started on the repairs as promised, first they installed a new water pipe, a total by-pass of the original, his crew back filled the trench. The next day the tile crew showed up and began removing all the old tile, meanwhile I was franically running all over Houston to find the tile to match what had been installed originally. Greg noticed that I was getting really frustrated with that futile endeavor and sent me to his tile vendor, where I found in about 20 minutes, what I'd been trying to find for 2 weeks prior. The tile was ordered on a Friday and it arrived on Monday, Greg delivered the tile and the crew was completely finished in about 3 days. A picture of the shower is attached, and if I may say so myself, it's simply gorgious! Remember the pet damage to the woodwork? Well as luck would have it, molding and chair rails weren't in production any longer and not avialble locally, Greg made a few calls and a few days later, the molden wood arrived from some where out of state. The same thing happened with the siding and Greg knew where to order the siding and it arrived about the same time, just a day or two before the crew showed up to do the work. All of the bathroom and kitchen fixtures were updated, including a double oven and new sink. Greg's crew jack hammered the old walk way out and poured the new one, in same day! It too, looks great, too, even the neighbors stopped to thank me for all the work that had been done to restore this once beatiful custom home back to it's intended appearance. Everything was beginning to take shape and the better the house looked, the worse the counter tops stood out. Close to the end of the job, I asked Greg about replacing them, wondering if he'd get upset with my last minute change. His reaction was very pleasant and professional, when I returned the next day, Greg left samples for me to pick out which color I wanted to use to replace the original formica. A week later, it was done! All I can tell you is that I've always choosen the lowest bidder and paid the "price" of either a unreliable contractor, you know the ones, they show up the first day, tear everything out and promise to return the next day to finish the work but don't and disappear until they're ready to come back. Or a contractor who does just enough to say it's done and the finished product looks as if I did it or worse! After working with Greg and Black & White Construction, I'll never do that again! When there's a repair that needs to be done, the first and only remodeling company that I'll call from here on out is Black & While Construction. Greg is an expert in home construction, he is honest, hard working, he follows through on the promises that he mades and his work is consistantly high quality and "spot on". I hope that this review is helpful to the members. I cannot say enough good things about Black & White, it's truly a wonderful experience to work with them.
