After 21 days into phase 2, three failed attempts to complete the stain work, multiple problems with the new shower, multiple leaks in our new kitchen ceiling, and significant damage to items in our home, I decided to terminate our contract. We subsequently learned the shower drain/pan was improperly installed, no certified electrician nor plumber was used, and there was not any contractor insurance as previously advertised. AND by the way, his team never addressed the punch list from phase 1. Total nightmare!!!!!! After 4 months of trying to find a resolution, which would involve accepting substandard work product. I'm now having a hard time finding a reputable contractor who is willing to finish the projects without completely redoing the work. As a summary, I'm now need to redo the kitchen cabinet stain, repair of kitchen ceiling, repair of entry ceiling, inspection of electrical work, complete rework and materials of shower, repair of poorly performed paint work, replacement of chipped ceramic bathtub (source of 1 or 4 kitchen ceiling leaks caused by contractor), repair and rework of laundry room countertops/cabinets (example: counter-tops were not mounted to studs), and replacement of damaged items in home (e.g. did not prep kitchen properly before staining which left over-spray on a lot of kitchen items). After close to $30K spent, I'm now looking at possibly 50% increase to complete the work to a reasonable completion point.
